When a God of Destruction Was Reincarnated in Tensura:

Chapter 96: Tempest Attack

The Situation in Tempest

As Raphael delivered her report, Rimuru's expression darkened. His voice, calm yet firm, cut through the air.

"So, it's finally happening. Falmuth and Charybdis at once, with Clayman, Carrion, and Frey waiting in the wings for the aftermath. A coordinated strike, just as we expected. Raphael, confirm again—how is the counterattack plan progressing?"

Raphael responded immediately.

"Report: The counterattack plan is proceeding as designed. The designated commanders are effectively neutralizing enemy forces while minimizing casualties. Veldora has successfully lured Charybdis into the weakened zone, and containment is underway."

Rimuru sighed in relief but kept his focus.

"Good. And the Falmuth army—how many?"

"Approximately 20,000 soldiers, with 1,000 knights and elite magic users among them. The rest are standard infantry."

Rimuru's gaze sharpened.

"So they're betting everything on this. Typical."

Rimuru Prepares

Turning to the children, Rimuru knelt down and patted Chloe's head gently.

"You'll all be safe, but I need you to trust me. I'm teleporting you to a secure location where Ranga will stay with you. Ranga, guard them with your life."

Ranga lowered his head in a bow, his deep voice filled with determination.

"Understood, my Lord. I shall protect them with all my might."

With a wave of his hand, Rimuru teleported them to a fortified location outside the battlefield. Then, taking a deep breath, he activated his teleportation skill and disappeared in a flash of light.

The Battlefield in Tempest

Rimuru materialized at the heart of Tempest, where chaos was unfolding. The skies roared with energy as the battle raged across multiple fronts. Raphael immediately began feeding him updates.

"Report: Shion and her elite unit are defending the southern flank against Falmuth's heavy cavalry. Benimaru's forces have ambushed their main infantry from the eastern forest, dividing their ranks. Souei's shadow corps is infiltrating their command structure, disrupting orders.

Rigurd and Hakuro are holding the central line, ensuring minimal breaches. Gabiru's airborne troops are neutralizing their mages, while Madox's artillery unit is bombarding their rear lines."

Rimuru's lips curved into a small smile. "Looks like everything is going according to plan."

Shion's Unit at the Southern Flank

On the southern flank, Shion stood at the frontlines, her massive greatsword gleaming with purple energy. Around her, her elite forces—composed of ogres and hobgoblins—fought fiercely, holding back Falmuth's heavy cavalry.

Shion let out a laugh as she cleaved through a group of knights in one swing.

"You think you can break through here? Don't make me laugh! As long as I stand, none of you will take a single step into Tempest!"

One of her commanders approached her, shouting over the din of battle.

"Lady Shion! The cavalry is regrouping for another charge!"

Shion grinned.

"Let them come. We'll smash them again! Ready the frontlines and reinforce the barricades!"

As the cavalry charged, Shion leaped into the air, her blade glowing with immense power. She brought it down with a devastating attack, creating a shockwave that sent the knights flying.

Benimaru's Ambush

In the eastern forest, Benimaru stood atop a hill, his crimson flames swirling around him. His forces were executing a perfect ambush, setting the Falmuth infantry into chaos.

Benimaru turned to one of his captains.

"The enemy is scattered. Signal the next wave to push forward. Don't give them time to regroup!"

The captain saluted. "Yes, Lord Benimaru!"

As the flames spread through the enemy ranks, Benimaru's voice roared.

"Burn it all to ash! Show them the power of Tempest!"

Souei's Infiltration

Meanwhile, in the enemy's command tent, Souei's shadowy figure loomed over Falmuth's generals. One by one, his subordinates eliminated key figures, leaving the chain of command in disarray.

One general, pale and trembling, turned to his colleague.

"What's happening? Why aren't our orders reaching the frontline?!"

Before he could say another word, Souei's dagger silenced him. Emerging from the shadows, Souei spoke coldly.

"You shouldn't have come here."

Rigurd and Hakuro at the Central Line

At the center of the battlefield, Rigurd rallied the hobgoblin troops.

"Hold the line! Protect the city at all costs!"

Beside him, Hakuro moved like a blur, cutting through enemy soldiers with precision and speed. His blade seemed to dance, each strike leaving devastation in its wake.

Rigurd turned to Hakuro.

"They're pressing hard, but our defenses are holding. What do you think?"

Hakuro sheathed his blade for a moment, his expression calm.

"Their formations are sloppy. They underestimated us. If we push now, we can drive them back entirely."

Gabiru's Aerial Assault

High above the battlefield, Gabiru and his dragon knights rained down attacks on Falmuth's mages. The sky was filled with bursts of energy as spells clashed with dragon fire.

Gabiru laughed triumphantly.

"You dare challenge the might of the Dragon Knights? Face our wrath!"

His subordinates cheered as they unleashed devastating strikes, neutralizing the enemy's magical advantage.

Veldora vs. Charybdis

In the designated containment zone, Veldora faced Charybdis head-on. The massive, mindless beast roared, its enormous body pulsing with destructive energy.

Veldora crossed his arms, grinning.

"You're not so tough, are you? Let's see how you handle my power!"

With a single swipe of his claws, Veldora unleashed a storm of energy that tore through Charybdis's defenses. The beast retaliated with a barrage of energy blasts, but Veldora shrugged them off like they were nothing.

"Is that all you've got?!" Veldora roared, unleashing his breath attack. The sheer force obliterated Charybdis's outer shell, leaving the creature severely weakened.

Falmuth's Leaders in Panic

Back in the Falmuth command tent, the remaining leaders were in chaos.

"This isn't possible! How are they countering us so easily?!"

One of the commanders slammed his fist on the table.

"We underestimated them! We need to retreat before we're annihilated!"

But before they could act, Souei's agents descended on the tent, silencing them.

Rimuru Arrives

As Rimuru arrived on the battlefield, his presence radiated authority. His generals quickly gathered to report their progress.

Benimaru approached first.

"Rimuru-sama, the enemy is in full retreat. Should we pursue?"

Rimuru shook his head.

"No need. Let them run back to their masters. We've sent a clear message. Good work, everyone."

His generals saluted, their morale high. Rimuru's eyes narrowed as he gazed at the horizon.

"Clayman, Carrion, Frey, and Yukki... Your plans have failed. And now, it's our turn."
