The Streamer From Another Dimension

Chapter 7

Chapter 7 – A True Broadcast Legend (1)

—–CROW—–

A dull headache lingered.  It felt similar to a hangover after a drinking stream.

I picked up my phone from the bedside table and checked the date and time. It was April 5th, the day after my first broadcast, and it was 7 AM.

“How long did I sleep?”

I must have slept for about 17 hours, passing out after showering and drying myself.

The 14-hour broadcast yesterday had been a bit much, and the fatigue from using the Cube was greater than I’d expected.

The reason I hadn’t noticed the fatigue during the broadcast was, of course, the excitement.  That broadcast was the kind I’d always wanted to do for the past seven years.

“The viewer count went over a thousand at its peak.”

I opened the dashboard and looked at the viewer graph; it was astonishing.  Seeing numbers I hadn’t seen in seven years felt strange.

“Ah, I’m hungry…”

I suddenly realized I hadn’t eaten anything since starting the broadcast yesterday.  While using the Cube with the solution provided some nutrients, I’d slept after getting out.

Since all I had at home was instant food, there wasn’t much choice.  I took a few things that looked decent from the refrigerator and put them in the microwave.

“Finally feels like I’m living like a human being.”

After eating and washing my face, I went out for a short jog.  I felt I needed to take care of my body.

Since there wasn’t an epidemic in this world, I didn’t need a mask when going outside, which made the run feel even more refreshing.

I returned home, showered, got myself ready, and turned on the computer.

“Right, I need to upload the video to CubeOn.”

I opened the recorded broadcast file and started editing. I added subtitles using images I’d commissioned or outsourced.

“First, let’s just pick out some highlights.”

I started piecing together the important parts from memory.  I skipped adding sound effects or visual effects due to time constraints.

Still, it didn’t take long, thanks to seven years of experience.

After putting together the necessary parts, I skipped the parts where I was practicing and retrying to shorten the video as much as possible.

“This is really fast.”

One of the things I still wasn’t used to in this world was the incredibly high computer performance.  It was so fast at rendering high-quality edited videos.

In my previous world, I needed two computers for broadcasting, but here, I didn’t need to, thanks to the improved performance.

Of course, even if I’d needed two, one would have been enough for me, since I mainly focused on Cube games.

“Uploaded… “

Since it was my first uploaded video, hardly anyone would watch it. I’d add a link to it in my Switch introduction later.

Ah, it was about time to start the broadcast.

“Should I do Chat Mode instead of gaming today…?”

Chat Mode was similar to the “Just Chatting” category on the platform I used before.  It was a Switch category used for broadcasts where you interacted with viewers without playing games or having any specific plan.

It would have been nice to have more time to learn about Cube broadcasting, but since I didn’t, I planned to stick with the familiar computer broadcasting for now.

“I’ll just start the broadcast and think while talking…”

I opened Switch and browsed through the broadcasts. Quite a few were playing Blood Emperor.

Many of the broadcast titles even included the words “Heavenly Demon Route.”

Wow, were they doing this because I discovered a new route yesterday?

Scrolling through the recommended broadcasts on Switch, I noticed a streamer named SnowFlowerMoonFlower in the Chat Mode category.

“She’s the one who hosted me and gave me the mission yesterday.”

I thought about going in to thank her and looked at the stream thumbnail. The webcam showed a cute face.

“…Huh?”

She was a female streamer. And incredibly pretty, too.

“Was I being too narrow-minded?”

I paused, taken aback by this unexpected reality. I’d assumed she was a male streamer because of her chat style and donations.

“I really don’t know anything. I should check Sprout Wiki.”

I felt I needed some information to avoid making mistakes.  I couldn’t possibly know everything about every other streamer.

But I felt I should know at least enough to avoid making mistakes with people I might become friends with.

“SnowFlowerMoonFlower… Real name: Jung Bom. 22-year-old female streamer.”

She switched to Switch TV after being permanently banned from Gunbbang TV. Agency: Candy Box. Crew: Avalon?

“There’s a strikethrough on the crew part.”

A crew was similar to a team formed by streamers. You could think of it as a group of streamers with similar styles.

The strikethrough meant she was no longer part of the Avalon Crew.

This kind of thing was always a sensitive topic…

“It disbanded?”

The Avalon Crew had six members: ‘Kang Joohyun’, ‘PokaButterChip’, ‘Luna’, ‘Soojeungi’, ‘Consomme’, and ‘SnowFlowerMoonFlower’. The reason for disbanding was…

“The crew leader, Sword Saint Kang Joohyun, quit broadcasting and disappeared?”

Ah, so *this* streamer was the Sword Saint I’d seen mentioned in chat.

Even the crew members didn’t know the reason for his disappearance. The crew eventually disbanded, but the former members were still on good terms.

“I should be careful not to mention Sword Saint-nim.”

I’d been thinking of asking about him because of the chat yesterday. That would have been a disaster.  It was always best to avoid potentially controversial topics.

“By the way, Soojeungi-nim is here too.”

I hadn’t seen any streamers I knew while watching Switch broadcasts.

So, it felt quite nice to finally find one. Soojeungi-nim had helped me a lot in my original world.

I checked the wiki entry just in case, and it was indeed the Soojeungi-nim I knew.

“I should watch her broadcast when I have the chance.”

Soojeungi-nim wasn’t currently broadcasting.

Greeting SnowFlowerMoonFlower-nim in her broadcast was the priority.

With that thought, I clicked on SnowFlowerMoonFlower-nim’s broadcast.

“Ah, so hot, sex…”

– ?

Startled by the sound, I instinctively typed a question mark.

Then, my brain froze, and I was rooted to the spot. Did I hear that right?  What was that? Wait…

– Yas, lol.

– MoonFlower is on fire today.

–  Wait, is that WhiteStar-nim for real?

–  Crazy, it’s really her.

–  Lol, of all times.

– That question mark, lol.

“Oh my god, WhiteStar-nim, it’s a misunderstanding.  I mean…  Anyway, welcome, WhiteStar-nim.”

– Not a misunderstanding, is it?

–  She gave up on explaining herself.

–  That question mark is so funny, lol.

– I thought she was late today, but this stopped her.

–  Who is that?  A streamer?

My mind started to reel.

What was this broadcast? Did female streamers usually broadcast like this?

My existing worldview was crumbling.  She was quite something, unlike her voice and appearance.

– Ah, sorry. I was a bit surprised, haha.

– Thank you so much for yesterday.

I calmed myself and sent a message.

Well, she was a bit intense, but if that was her broadcasting style, it wasn’t my place to interfere.

Considering how she’d helped me yesterday, she couldn’t be a bad person.

“No, I just came to visit as a Soosu.  Oh, thank you for the follow, WhiteStar-nim.  Together forever?”

– Huh?

“It’s a follow reaction! Hey, Snowflake MoonSnowflakes, be quiet!”

– Why should we be quiet?

– Lol.

–  Oppression, I see.

– Suspicious.

–  Why bother with a follow reaction she doesn’t normally do?

–  Honestly, it’s a bit scary.

–  A broadcast that starts with “sex.”

–  “Together forever,” how terrifying.

[‘Soosu Mukbang’ donated 1,000 won!]

– (Switch clip)

“Ha, the MoonSnowflakes are so hot today.”

“I want to eat them.”

“Hey, showing that clip without context is misleading!”

– MoonFlower, oh la la.

– Misleading?

–  What’s misleading about it?

– ??????

–  You’re usually like this.

–  Trying to hide it now?

Okay, good. This time, I was able to handle it since I was expecting it.  By the way, her voice tone was different in that clip.

– Uh, hmm, good luck. I should get ready for my broadcast.

“No, I’m really not like that. WhiteStar-nim!”

– Running away, lol.

–  She’s escaping, lol.

–  Honestly, it’s understandable.

–  A streamer who devours both Soosus and… other things.

“No, I’m not!”

I turned off the broadcast. I absolutely wasn’t running away. I turned it off because I had to prepare for my own broadcast.

“Are my clothes okay?  Ah, I should warm up my voice too.”

I loaded the settings I’d prepared for Chat Mode. I double-checked the webcam and made sure the follow and donation notifications were working correctly.

“Huh?”

As I was about to start the broadcast, I received a message on my Switch account.

Considering it wasn’t there before, it must have just arrived.

“An offer to become a Verified Streamer?”

Switch had different streamer tiers: Regular Streamer, Verified Streamer, and Partnered Streamer.

You started as a Regular Streamer and had to meet certain requirements to become a Verified Streamer.  But I hadn’t met those requirements yet.

“The Verified Streamer requirements include a minimum number of broadcast days.”

I’d only broadcast for two days, since my last broadcast went past midnight.

This meant that Switch had made an exception and offered me the opportunity.

Of course, I would become a Verified Streamer soon enough once I met the day requirement, but I was grateful for them handling it in advance.

“I have to take this.”

I filled out the necessary documents related to revenue and entered some additional information, and the approval came through quickly.

[You have become a Verified Streamer.]

[You will now receive a share of ad revenue.  The subscription feature has been unlocked.]

“Time to start the broadcast.”

[Give advice to a rookie streamer’s broadcast]

I didn’t necessarily need specific content for Chat Mode.  In Chat Mode, the content itself was the interaction between the viewers and the streamer.

But I was still a newbie without a regular audience, so it was better to have some kind of topic.

“There will be surprisingly many Soosus who know a lot about broadcast settings.”

This was partly due to “StreamSoosus,” streamers who were also active viewers, but broadcast settings were surprisingly often a topic of conversation in Chat Mode.

Those viewers who frequently discussed such topics would know more than I did, as I was still unfamiliar with this world.

And people liked sharing their knowledge and learning new things.

That’s why I chose this topic.

[Live Broadcast ON]

– Oh, it’s on.

– Star hi.

– Heavenly Demon, lol.

– Oh.

“Oh, you all came in quickly. Hello, I’m rookie streamer WhiteStar.”

–  Her looks, oh la la.

–  I only saw her in clips from Blood Emperor yesterday.

– Good cam quality.

–  Star hi.

“Ah, thank you, ‘OnlyFollowPrettyStreamers’-nim, for the follow.  Ah, I’m not Heavenly Demon.  Or am I?”

–  Living up to the nickname, lol.

–  Honestly, the Blood Emperor stream yesterday had quite an impact.

–  Star-nim is the real Heavenly Demon-nim.

–  Star hi.

–  No makeup? Confidence, damn.

I started the broadcast without makeup because I wasn’t used to it. I figured it wouldn’t be a big deal since my face had already been revealed in Cube yesterday.

“Hello. I’m not wearing makeup because I’m not confident in my makeup skills.  And my face was revealed yesterday anyway.”

– That’s true, lol.

– Lol.

– You’re pretty enough without makeup.

–  I like the natural look.

–  That was no makeup???

“Haha, thank you for the compliment.”

I said that, but I also thought Ahyeon-ssi’s appearance deserved such reactions.  Ahyeon-ssi’s looks were definitely top tier.

– Goddess hi.

– What’s the title? What are you doing today?

–  What game?

–  What game?

“I won’t be playing any games right away. I’ll decide later, depending on the situation.”

I cleared my throat and started explaining to the viewers.
