Chapter 7: Chapter 7:Chloe
During his university days, Jaxon had cultivated the habit of exercising early in the morning, a routine he hadn't abandoned even after graduation. Given the proximity of his residence to Goldenleaf University, he often chose to work out on the university's sports field.
When Jaxon arrived at the sports field, a handful of people were already there, though the number was sparse. Not many university students were disciplined enough to rise early for exercise, and with the semester not yet officially underway and the time still early, the turnout was even smaller.
After a brief warm-up, Jaxon began to jog around the track.
As he ran, his mind inevitably wandered back to the space he had visited before. He pondered whether the skills he had learned there could be utilized in reality, especially since he could now access his attribute panel and backpack page in the real world.
Curiosity got the better of him, and he decided to test it out. He targeted a student running ahead of him and used the only skill he knew: Appraisal!
Name: Liu Guang
Sophomore at Goldenleaf University, majoring in Civil Engineering, 21 years old, 186 cm tall, 160 pounds, a key player on the college basketball team, enjoys basketball and dating, from Mei Province, lives with parents...
Sure enough, after using the Appraisal skill on the student ahead, a series of detailed information appeared before Jaxon's eyes. He also realized that this information was visible only to him, so he didn't have to worry about others discovering his secrets.
"I didn't expect to get so much information," Jaxon muttered to himself. The details provided a comprehensive profile of the student named Liu Guang, including his hobbies and family background.
The Appraisal skill was indeed useful and delivered quite detailed information.
As Jaxon was reflecting on this, a familiar and attractive figure passed by him, bringing with her a refreshing scent that made him involuntarily sniff the air.
It was her!
Jaxon's eyes lit up. He was very familiar with the figure in the white tracksuit ahead. In fact, whenever he came to exercise here, he would see her. Sometimes, he would even come earlier just to catch a glimpse of her.
Of course, although Jaxon was familiar with her figure, he had never approached her to strike up a conversation. He would just steal a few glances during his workout.
Jaxon knew that she was a student at Goldenleaf University, but beyond that, he didn't know much else about her.
Unable to suppress his curiosity, Jaxon used the Appraisal skill on her as well.
Name: Chloe
Junior at Goldenleaf University, majoring in Economics and Management, enjoys martial arts, lives in the capital city.
That was it?
Jaxon looked at the brief information on the virtual screen in front of him. It was significantly less detailed than the information he had received about Liu Guang. He was slightly stunned, unsure why the information was so sparse.
Could it be that his Appraisal skill had failed?
That didn't make sense!
While Jaxon was still pondering, he suddenly noticed that Chloe, who had just passed by, had stopped abruptly. She turned around and looked at him.
Jaxon once again saw Chloe's celestial-like appearance. Her delicate features were perfectly combined, and at first sight, the words "stunning beauty" would immediately come to mind. Coupled with her graceful figure and unique aura, one glance was enough to make anyone involuntarily captivated and unable to tear themselves away.
Jaxon felt a bit guilty. After all, he had just used the Appraisal skill on her, which could be considered an invasion of privacy and a disrespectful act.
"Wait!"
Just as Jaxon was about to pretend nothing had happened and pass by quietly, Chloe suddenly spoke up.
Jaxon instinctively stopped.
Chloe took a few steps and stood in front of Jaxon again, looking at him intently and asking, "What did you just do to me?"
"What?" Jaxon looked at her with some confusion, which was genuine as he truly didn't understand what she meant.
"What did you do to me just now when you were behind me?" Chloe asked again.
"I didn't do anything," Jaxon shook his head and then added with a bit of embarrassment, "I just took a couple of glances at you."
"Is that all?" Chloe frowned, her expression skeptical.
Chloe was well aware that her appearance drew a lot of attention. Whether on campus or on the streets, she always had a high turning-head rate. She was used to people looking at her. However, just now, she distinctly felt that the gaze from behind was different from the usual ones. It seemed as if the eyes could see right through her. She had only seen such a gaze in a few elders before, and those elders were not ordinary people.
Yet, when she turned around, she found that the person behind her was just an ordinary young man, around her age. This puzzled her.
How could such a young man have that kind of gaze? It didn't make sense.
Did she feel wrong, or was the gaze not from him?
But there was no one else behind her. The nearest person was more than twenty meters away.
"That's all," Jaxon nodded, which was not a lie. He had indeed only taken a couple of glances, albeit while using the Appraisal skill.
Chloe nodded, her expression inscrutable. Just as Jaxon thought she was about to leave, she suddenly spoke again: "You're not a student at our university, are you?"
"No, I'm not. I just live nearby," Jaxon replied honestly.
Goldenleaf University did not prohibit non-students from entering, especially places like the sports field. So, Jaxon didn't mind her knowing that he was not a student there.
However, Jaxon was also puzzled. How did she know he wasn't a student at the university? Although he had been out of school for a year and had some work experience, in terms of appearance, there was not much difference between him and the university students. In fact, some students on campus looked more mature than he did.
Chloe looked at Jaxon again without saying anything, then turned and left, leaving Jaxon standing there in confusion.
Jaxon didn't dwell on this question for long. He wasn't close to Chloe. He just happened to see her often on the sports field because she was attractive. He had never really thought about anything more than that.
