Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Teleportation Once Again
After Chloe left, Jaxon continued his jogging exercise, and then returned to his rented apartment.
Because he had been doing barbecue recently, during the day, Jaxon needed to skewer various vegetables and meats, which was a time-consuming task. Although Jaxon only rented a room, the house itself was a three-bedroom, one-living room apartment, with the other rooms empty. In the living room, there was a refrigerator. Since no one else lived there, Jaxon stored the ingredients he usually purchased inside it. His business was average, so he didn't buy much in the way of ingredients, and a small fridge was enough.
"If I could bring some vegetables and meats from that space, I wouldn't have to buy these things anymore. The cost would be reduced," Jaxon thought to himself while busy.
This was indeed a good idea. Since chicken could be brought out, other things could naturally be brought out as well. However, he didn't know much about that space and wasn't sure if he could get those ingredients. As for whether those ingredients would be edible, Jaxon wasn't worried. After all, he had eaten the chicken he had brought out, and it had tasted quite good. Moreover, the backpack was very special. The chicken kept in it not only didn't go bad but also remained warm, with its flavor intact. So, there shouldn't be any problem with storing other ingredients in it.
In the evening, Jaxon went out to set up his stall and do barbecue again. Before he could use that space-time to change his life, Jaxon didn't dare to disrupt his current life, otherwise, he was afraid he wouldn't be able to survive.
The evening business was still lukewarm. Jaxon enviously looked at the barbecue shop across the street, thinking that when he had money, he would also take over a store. With more space and a better environment, he believed there would definitely be more customers than now.
Previously, such thoughts were just wishful thinking for him. It would be very difficult to really achieve. After all, his luck had always been poor, and he didn't know when his barbecue stall would have to close down.
However, now that he had that special ring, everything was different. Opening a store was no longer an unattainable dream.
If the old man who gave Jaxon the ring knew that after obtaining the ring, Jaxon was satisfied with just being able to open a store, he would probably be so angry that his eyes would roll back.
When he got back to his place, it was past one in the morning again. After a simple wash and rinse, Jaxon lay on the bed once more, with a slightly excited mood, he turned the ring on his hand and silently chanted "teleport".
This was the method the old man had taught him. Sure enough, the next second, Jaxon's vision once again plunged into the familiar darkness, not a glimmer of light, the dense blackness enveloped his entire body, making him feel a little uncomfortable.
Fortunately, this sensation quickly passed. The next second, his vision was filled with the familiar village again.
Compared to the confusion of his first time here yesterday, today's Jaxon was obviously better prepared and more excited. Because he knew that this ring might really change his fate and allow him to bid farewell to his previous life.
Of course, as the old man had said, the god had only given him the opportunity to change his fate. Whether he could really change it or not still depended on himself.
With an excited mood, Jaxon ran towards the village chief's house. He was very satisfied with the Appraisal skill he had obtained from the village chief yesterday, and he was thinking of getting more treasures from him.
"Grandpa Chief, I'm here. Do you have any tasks for me to do?"
"Tasks? No, no, you'd better leave quickly. I don't want to see you," unlike Jaxon's excited expression, the old village chief had no good face when he saw Jaxon. Apparently, he still remembered that Jaxon had "extorted" the Appraisal skill from him yesterday.
"Come on, Chief, we're old acquaintances. It's really hurtful for you to say that," Jaxon said with a thick skin: "If you have any tasks, just go ahead and tell me. As for rewards, you can decide on them yourself".
"Really?" The village chief seemed a little skeptical of Jaxon's change of attitude. He clearly remembered that yesterday Jaxon had been very insistent on getting rewards, even demanding legendary weapons and mythical pets. How could he have changed his character in just one day?
"Of course!" Jaxon thumped his chest and said: "How could I be the kind of person who is only motivated by money and won't move an inch without rewards? I couldn't be!"
Although this was only his second time entering this world, Jaxon had already realized that although this was a game world, the people here were real, not just strings of data. They had emotions and thoughts. This was a real world.
So, it was not a bad thing to get along well with the people here. Moreover, if the chief really gave him tasks, he would probably give some rewards, just like Aunt Wang had given him a bowl of chicken before. Anyway, Jaxon was now a pure novice. He needed everything and was not picky.
"Not bad, not bad, I really didn't make a mistake in choosing you," the old village chief seemed to believe Jaxon's words and was very satisfied with his attitude. "However, I don't have any tasks for you at the moment. You can go to see Old Li first".
"Old Li?" Jaxon was taken aback.
"He is the pharmacist in our village. Don't underestimate our small village. We have everything: pharmacists, chefs, blacksmiths, and they are all top-notch. Even in the entire continent, they are at the very top!" The old village chief said with pride, his face glowing, and he seemed to have regained some of the aura that Jaxon had seen before when he thought the old man was a charlatan.
Blowing his own horn!
Jaxon muttered to himself. In his heart, this place was just a beginner's village. Based on his past experience, this beginner's village was a place for new players to get familiar with the game. Players wouldn't stay here for long, and the people here could only give out some basic tasks. The "NPCs" here wouldn't be very advanced. Jaxon thought the old village chief was just trying to make himself and his village look good.
However, Jaxon wouldn't say this out loud. After all, you don't slap someone in the face. He didn't want the old village chief to get angry and drive him away. He was still very weak at the moment. If he left the beginner's village and went outside, he would probably die very miserably.
After learning the location of "Old Li" from the old village chief, Jaxon planned to go and have a look. Although the chief didn't have any tasks, it was the same if other people did. As long as there were tasks, he would take them. He wasn't picky.
