Chapter 6: Chapter 6: So It Was Like This!
Aunt Wang's generosity was truly abundant, as she gave Jaxon a full bowl of chicken stew. Although Jaxon had a hearty appetite, he still couldn't finish it all. After letting out a contented burp and a sigh of satisfaction, he put the remaining chicken into his backpack, planning to eat it when he got hungry again.
"Right, I should check my attributes!" It then occurred to Jaxon to review his attributes.
However, the result was quite disappointing. None of his attributes had increased at all. In other words, the bowl of chicken he had just eaten was just an ordinary bowl of chicken stew.
"Nevertheless, the taste was indeed excellent. Aunt Wang is quite a skilled cook. It seems I'll have to come back for more when I get the chance," Jaxon thought to himself.
Although he felt a bit let down that his attributes hadn't increased, he was still quite satisfied with the taste of the chicken. Moreover, catching chickens was just a very simple task. It was normal not to receive any legendary weapons as a reward.
"It seems that in this place, one shouldn't expect to level up to 999 with a single strike, nor should one expect to be given legendary weapons at the start," Jaxon roughly understood that this game was clearly different from the exaggeratedly promoted games he had seen online before. It wouldn't level up so quickly, nor would it give away any equipment. However, the realism of this game far exceeded those junk games. Whether it was visually, in terms of pain, or even taste, it was just like the real thing.
"Judging from this, it seems that the so-called god does have some abilities, being able to create such a realistic game world," Jaxon thought to himself.
After completing Aunt Wang's task, Jaxon didn't immediately go to fight monsters or take on more quests. Instead, he wandered around the village. After all, he was the only "player" here and there was no need to rush. Moreover, since this place would be a regular spot for him in the future, it was best to familiarize himself with the environment first.
It wasn't until the sun set in the west that Jaxon muttered to himself, "If that old man didn't lie to me, I should be heading back soon."
Sure enough, the next second, his vision turned pitch black again. However, soon after, his sight returned, and he saw his familiar rental apartment once more.
"I'm back again?!"
"It seems that the old man might really not have lied to me!" Jaxon looked around and said to himself, "But he said that this teleportation could change my fate. However, what's the use of that? It's just experiencing a realistic game world. How can it help my real life? He really should have explained it clearly instead of leaving me to figure it out on my own."
Jaxon sat on the bed and thought for a long time, but he couldn't figure out how teleporting to that world could help his real life.
"Never mind, don't think about it. First, get up, eat something, and go for a run." According to what the old man said, time in the real world would also pass while he was in that world, just at a different rate. There, he could stay for 12 hours, while in reality, only four hours would pass.
So, when Jaxon teleported back, it was already daylight.
"If only I could take out that half bowl of chicken from my backpack," Jaxon thought of eating and immediately recalled the chicken Aunt Wang had given him.
He had saved some of the chicken, planning to eat it when he got hungry, but later, while wandering around the village, he had forgotten about it. However, the next second, Jaxon was stunned.
As he thought of his backpack, a familiar virtual screen actually appeared before his eyes. The screen had ten squares, which was exactly the appearance of the backpack he had seen before!
"Whoa! What's going on?! Why can I see my backpack in the real world?" Jaxon couldn't help but shout out loud, his expression as if he had seen a ghost.
Thinking he might be hallucinating, Jaxon blinked hard several times and confirmed that what he saw was indeed the backpack he had seen before, with the half bowl of chicken still inside.
Jaxon quickly tried to bring up his attribute panel, and to his delight, it appeared just like the backpack page.
Then, he tried to take out the half bowl of chicken. The next second, a bowl appeared in his hand, and inside the bowl was the chicken stew Aunt Wang had given him!
Afterward, he tried to put the bowl of chicken back into his backpack, and it worked as expected. Jaxon felt like he had discovered a new toy and kept taking it out and putting it back in, enjoying himself immensely.
"I wonder if I can put things from the real world into it," Jaxon thought and tried to put items from his room into the backpack.
The small table, no good! The clothes hanger, no good! The stool, still no good!
Jaxon tried many things and found that none of them could be put into the backpack. In the end, he had to accept this reality.
"However, this is not bad either." Jaxon quickly recovered from the disappointment. "Now I finally understand how teleporting there can help the real world. It turns out that I can bring things from that time and space into reality!"
Jaxon had wandered around the village for a long time during the day. He knew that there were mines around the village, and those mines were unclaimed. There was also a forest with herbs and other rare and precious fruits. If he could bring those things into reality, they might be of some help to his life.
The more Jaxon thought about it, the more likely it seemed, and the more excited he became.
After a long while, Jaxon finally calmed down from his excitement, ate the half bowl of chicken, and then went out. Despite having been up all night, he was not tired at all. On the contrary, he felt more energetic than usual.
The place where Jaxon lived was not far from Goldenleaf University. Goldenleaf University was a prestigious school, ranking first among all universities in the province and even making it into the top ten nationwide. The housing prices around such a school would definitely not be cheap, and even renting would be expensive. However, Jaxon was able to live there not because he was wealthy, but due to a bit of coincidence. Once, while taking the bus, he saw a pickpocket stealing a wallet. At that time, he had just graduated and was still a young man full of passion. Naturally, he couldn't stand by and do nothing. He not only scolded and stopped the thief but also subdued him. Of course, during the struggle, he sustained a few minor injuries.
However, good deeds are rewarded. The target of the thief was a forty-something aunt, who was very grateful to Jaxon afterward. When she learned that Jaxon was looking for a place to live, she rented him one of the rooms in her vacant apartment at a very low price. This apartment is where Jaxon lives now. Although it is not very large, many people want to rent it, and the price is not cheap. After all, the surrounding environment is good, and it is also near the city center. Therefore, Jaxon has always been very grateful to that aunt in his heart.
