Chapter 9 - Test (4)
Test (4)
There’s one thing I’ve realized while living. The fact that if ‘enemies’ arise for whatever reason, it’s good to trample them using every means I can take. … Whatever it may be.
I looked at Ariel who had collapsed after being hit by my mace. Perhaps because she had been operating under the Heaven God cult’s orders for a long time, I see her activating a mana shield in reaction in that brief moment. Thinking this is indeed befitting of a torture specialist, I brought the mace down on her head again.
Crack.
The sound of the skull collapsing comes along with the shield breaking. After looking at Ariel who had completely lost consciousness, I spoke while slowly trampling her back.
“… Don’t cross the line.”
If a third party saw me, wouldn’t I look like an extra chaebol villain in a movie or a villain who dies early. Looking at the bloodstains on the mace, thinking the impact feel given by a mace weapon is better than expected, I turned my gaze.
“Kyaaah!” “W-what?” “Wasn’t Deren on our side…?”
Bewildered voices at the unexpected situation echo here and there. Seems their minds can’t catch up since the one they thought would be their most reliable ally turned into an enemy. I wiped off the blood on my face while slowly approaching such people.
“Next.”
At my word, they all look back and forth between me and Ariel checking the situation. From their perspective, they just came out feeling like they were coming to play but. Not only facing violence they couldn’t handle, but seems they’re hesitant since their opponent is the youngest of the Lercier family.
Looking at them who can’t even meet my eyes because they’re scared, I let out a sneer then. Soon spoke briefly while swinging the mace.
“If you’re not coming, get lost.”
Since it would be ambiguous even for me to handle this many numbers alone, I said that thinking to reduce even a few numbers but. Whether they’re checking their surroundings or something’s holding them back, they don’t think about running away. Looking at their appearance, I let out a wry laugh then hardened my expression and brought the mace down on the shoulder of the one closest to me.
Crunch!
Screams spread around along with the sound of bones breaking. From that sound, the noble kids who had been hesitating start fleeing from me in chaos.
“Kyaaah!” “R-run away!” “Fuck!”
Thanks to their noble status they might have hit others but never been hit themselves, so the effect is excessively good. Looking at Ariel still lying down, just in case I brought the mace down on her back again then opened my mouth.
“So Professor, aren’t you running away?” “……”
New professor Siris. No, to express precisely, Siris the priest of the Heaven God cult was silently smiling while looking at me. Looking at her like that, I judged the situation.
‘… Can I catch her?’
Actually even catching Ariel earlier was a result of luck and surprise attack overlapping, not feeling like I caught her because I was strong. But I can’t even get a sense of whether I can catch Siris who is several times stronger than Ariel. After contemplating for a moment, I fell into contemplation recalling the description that appeared in the novel.
[No matter how much one struggled, facing teacher Siris was impossible… no, furthermore it was impossible to endure even for a moment.]
That it was completely unmanageable. Therefore while contemplating what to do, Siris spoke to me in a calm voice.
“Did you step forward to protect this child?”
Since I didn’t feel the need to answer those words, when I kept my mouth shut. Siris looks at me while taking out a dagger from her bosom.
‘Wasn’t she a magician?’
Wondering why she’s taking out a dagger while looking. She immediately turns around and grabs Rumi’s head who was collapsed nearby, pointing the knife at her neck.
“But what will you do? She’s about to die now.”
She provokes my temper with a sneering face. She spoke to me while lightly stabbing Rumi’s neck with the knife tip.
“I don’t understand why you’re trying to protect this one… you’ll regret it terribly. The people who want her to be unhappy are quite extraordinary people you know.” “……”
It’s not wrong. Among those belonging to the Heaven God cult, there were many positioned in high offices starting from quite famous figures.
“So won’t you stop now and join our side? I think you could become a splendid member of the Heaven God cult.”
At those words, after pretending to contemplate for a moment, I then threw the mace straight at Siris.
“…!”
Siris tried to block the flying mace by manifesting magic but. Before that, I infiltrated the ownership of the magic Siris was using.
Then Siris seemed to realize what I was trying to do and let out a sneer with an expression mixing ridicule and anger. Soon tried to easily block my invasion but.
“Kyaaah!”
Just before blocking, my foot was planted in Siris’s stomach. After confirming Siris rolling on the ground, I immediately picked up the mace.
‘She let her guard down.’
An effective hit I could land luckily because Siris was careless since our level difference was extreme. Probably if Siris had tried to properly face me she could have blocked sufficiently, but seems her reaction was delayed since there were many things to consider. I narrowed my eyes thinking the Lercier family tag sticking to me helped more than expected.
‘Then what should I do now?’
Though I succeeded in saving Rumi thanks to luck and force overlapping. No matter how much I rack my brain, I can’t think of any way to win against Siris. Therefore around when I was absorbed in how to escape this situation.
“… You little brat. You keep climbing because I keep letting you.”
Siris’s sunken voice is heard.
“Because you’re the Lercier family’s youngest I was being very gentle trying not to hurt you. But you’re really crossing the line?”
As if she has no intention of even acting anymore, she glares at me while grinding her teeth. Roughly throws away the dagger she was holding and takes out a magic book from her bosom.
“Right… since it’s all fucked anyway, let’s go all the way.”
Then she casts magic while emitting vast mana incomparable to earlier. Just in case, I tried interfering with the mana to steal ownership but.
‘… Indeed it doesn’t work.’
Unlike earlier, I get bounced off unable to even approach.
‘Then the remaining option is close combat but.’
It was questionable whether approaching a magician openly on guard would be possible. While gripping the mace tightly and getting into stance deciding to endure for now.
“Ice Spear!”
Five huge spears too difficult to handle pour toward me. Spears charging at a speed so fast it’s difficult to even follow with my eyes. At first I thought about blocking these using magic, but since it didn’t seem manageable no matter how I looked at it, I threw my body sideways.
Kwaang!
A huge explosion sound is heard. I quickly got up while batting away the scattering ice fragments that spread from the ice spears breaking.
‘The power is stronger than expected.’
Confident that if I had tried to block that, I would have been the one breaking, while preparing for the next attack. Ice arrows pierce down faster than I had prepared for.
‘……’
The speed at which magic continues is beyond imagination. Around when I was backing away from the endlessly continuing ice arrows. Someone shouts in a voice full of sneering from behind.
“Siris, don’t tell me you’re struggling this much unable to catch one student?”
A new enemy’s intrusion. Actually since this was a part not even mentioned in the novel, I couldn’t hide my bewilderment.
‘Could it be that because the battle time got long, a Heaven God cult minion hiding in the academy saw this and ran over?’
That’s the only possibility that exists. While biting my lip at the current situation becoming even more difficult, the male student who newly appeared from behind spoke while drawing a sword.
“Then let’s finish quickly and go. If it gets any longer, the Archbishop will get quite angry I think.” “… Right. But don’t kill him. The Lercier family is troublesome.” “Well I’ll try.”
With those words as the last, the male student grabs his sword in a thrusting form and starts rushing at me. Movement at a speed clearly different from magic department students. I tried to deflect such attack using magic but.
“Where are you looking.”
Because of ice arrows flying from behind, I wasted magic blocking those. Therefore with only rolling remaining as an option, when I tried to throw my body.
Crack!
A binding magic Siris used at some point wraps around my ankle and stops my movement. While looking at the sword approaching at high speed, just when I was thinking I was hit. Rumi who had been collapsed threw her body to block the male student’s sword.
“You bastard!”
Actually rather than blocking, receiving might be a more correct expression. Rumi who was bleeding from getting her side pierced by the sword pushed away the male student’s body with trembling hands and spoke to me.
“Run… run away. Only I… only I need to become unhappy. So…”
The moment I hear those words, anger comes. Whether it’s anger at my own powerlessness or anger at the nonsensical acts the Heaven God cult is committing, I’m not sure. But one thing for sure is this anger probably won’t be forgotten even if a lifetime passes. Though emotions blazed up, feeling my mind strangely settling down, when I rushed at him.
“You fight well but. In the end you’re just student level right?”
The male student avoids my attack without difficulty and swings his sword at me. Fortunately I succeeded in avoiding those attacks, but since I couldn’t dodge perfectly, small wounds appeared one by one.
‘Fuck.’
At this rate, serious aftereffects would come to Rumi who had a long wound in her side. Therefore thinking I should use some method as quickly as possible. When I tried to attack the male student using magic.
“I told you you can’t win at student level.”
He avoids it with a sneering voice and plants his sword in my shoulder.
“……”
Intense pain comes. I endured the groan while frowning at that pain.
‘Then what remaining methods… are there?’
If magic gets blocked by checks, and close combat has too big a level difference, what can be done? No answer comes out no matter how I search my mind. Therefore when I couldn’t find any answer, suddenly one thought flashes through my mind.
‘Magic nullification.’
A method to nullify the magic Siris uses. Of course since the level difference is big, it would be impossible to nullify her magic through normal methods but.
‘Thinking about how she couldn’t properly defend when surprised or off guard.’
Deciding to make such a situation happen, I slowly opened my mouth.
“… Surrender. I’ll surrender now.”
At those words the male student tried to kill me as if not worth listening to but. Siris spoke hurriedly while letting out a relieved sigh.
“Seton let’s stop here.” “What?” “I told you right? He’s the Lercier family’s youngest young master?” “… That damn Lercier family.”
Whether my surrender declaration worked, Siris let out a sigh and slowly approached me.
“So I told you right? It would be good if you just obediently became our ally.”
Siris who put her mask back on spoke to me with an expression full of smiles.
“She’s just trash commoner girl to you anyway right? So there’s no need to get hurt while saving her. If you liked her appearance, I’ll get you separate toys so don’t feel too sorry.”
At those words, I slowly took a deep breath and spoke.
“… You’re.” “Hm what? I can’t hear well?” “You’re fucking lying you bitch!”
My original way of speaking, not Deren’s. Along with that way of speaking, I swing the mace again. When Siris tried to spread protection magic bewildered by such attack.
‘Interference magic.’
I who already knew she would come out that way, quickly broke through the protection magic and. Planted the mace straight into her head.
Crunch!
The sound of the skull caving in. While feeling refreshed at that sound and raising the corners of my mouth. The male student behind muttered curses and spoke.
“You fuck. Just know I’ll kill you.”
At those words, when I immediately tried to block it using a barrier.
“Urgh.”
Perhaps because my mana had all run out from the magic used earlier, only dry heaving comes out and no magic comes out. Around when I was feeling fucked in such situation.
“Young master, you’ve worked hard.”
Along with the butler’s voice, one huge sword pierced down from the sky.
Kwaaaaang!
Massive damage that could be said half the test site was destroyed. Thinking the countermeasures I had prepared finally worked properly, I spoke grumblingly.
“… Should have come faster.” “I apologize. Since it’s the academy after all, there were many things to handle to enter so it took some time.” “Fine. Just handle it.” “Yes.”
The butler nodded his head politely and spoke briefly.
“Capture all the bastards involved.”
Along with those words, what looked like dozens of combat personnel came down from the sky and quickly infiltrated inside the test site.
