The Female Lead Found My Suicide Note

Chapter 10 - Test Aftermath

Test Aftermath

The torture room in the family’s deep basement. In that place where even ventilation doesn’t work properly and only the smell of rotting humans wafts, the butler spoke to me.

“They were quite tough ones. Though we asked how they did such things using all methods, none of them opened their mouths.” “Really?”

I nodded awkwardly while looking at the three who no longer had human form due to all sorts of wounds. To the point where I wondered if they could even be called people rather than zombies.

“Yes. When we consulted a torture specialist, they said it’s because of severe brainwashing from childhood and unidentified contract magic planted in their bodies.”

Unidentified contract. At those words, I fell into contemplation feeling a strange sense of incongruity.

‘What exactly is the Heaven God cult doing?’

At first I thought it was simply a completely rotten religion or pseudo-religion but. Now thinking about it carefully, there were numerous points that felt off to simply call it such a religious group.

‘For example, their stance of only wanting Rumi’s unhappiness.’

Their boldness to cause group violence within the academy for the cult’s purpose. Furthermore, putting such powerful brainwashing on ordinary believers. No matter how I thought about it, there were quite a lot of incongruous aspects about that cult.

‘It would have been good if I had read more of the novel.’

Since I could only read at most two chapters a day due to busy real life. It remained quite regrettable that I couldn’t read until the end of “Female Lead Rolls” which exceeded a thousand chapters. Around when I was thinking it would have been good if I could at least know the identity of the Heaven God cult, the butler spoke to me.

“Young master, are your wounds alright?”

At those words, I looked at my body then nodded. At my response, the butler slightly examined my body then let out a relieved sigh and continued speaking.

“That’s fortunate. If young master had been badly hurt, I can’t even imagine how angry the family head would have been.”

That family head? Since he appears as quite a cold-blooded person even in the novel, I didn’t particularly think so but. While just nodding thinking whatever, suddenly remembering Rumi, when I asked about her.

“Miss Rumi’s wounds are expected to all heal within a few days.”

Quite positive results were heard.

‘In the novel it was a wound that would cause lifelong suffering, but here it changed to a wound that will heal in a few days…’

Though no one knows whether this change will become a positive direction. One thing for sure is that at least most of the cancer-inducing parts that came out because of that wound will disappear. I nodded after recalling Rumi’s appearance in the novel who suffered all sorts of restrictions because of the wound.

“Call me when Rumi regains consciousness later.” “Yes. I shall do so.”

I nodded and turned around.

Rumi regained consciousness early the next morning. Looking at Rumi who was staring at the ceiling with a blank expression, I spoke briefly.

“Are you okay?”

At that question, Rumi came to her senses, then spoke to me while hurriedly crawling under the blanket.

“Ugh… y-yes.”

Seeing how she makes a painful groan before answering yes, seems she’s still quite hurting. Looking at Rumi who had burrowed into the blanket like a ground mole, I let out a sigh and continued speaking.

“Stay here at least until your wounds heal.”

At those words, Rumi flinched for a moment. Then poked only her face out and quickly shook her head.

“N-no. I can’t cause that much trouble… I’ll rest a little and go right away.”

An appearance of hesitantly refusing. Feeling strangely annoyed at such appearance, I spoke firmly.

“Rest.” “……”

Thinking how in the novel it was so cancer-inducing because of her personality that couldn’t cause trouble to others even if she suffered loss herself. Harsh words with some emotion in them burst out.

“If you wander outside with that body, rumors will spread that the Lercier family can’t even properly treat their guest’s wounds, so listen.” “… Then I’ll go right away when the wounds heal.”

I wanted to tell her to rest properly since she’s resting anyway. But deciding to just give up since it didn’t seem like she would listen no matter how much more we argued.

Looking at such Rumi while standing for a moment, when I was about to return straight to my room after confirming Rumi was okay.

“W-wait a moment!”

Rumi hurriedly called out to stop me. Wondering why, when I turned around, Rumi speaks while coming out folding the blanket.

“Why… did you help me?”

I couldn’t easily answer that question. Because I thought whatever words I said would seem alien and contradictory for Rumi to accept.

‘Though I helped her, the character Deren tried to kidnap, assault, and even rape her after all.’

Therefore when I just stood still unable to give any answer. Rumi looked at me hesitantly, then spoke while kneeling on the floor.

“… Thank you. If it weren’t for you, I could have died.”

Bewilderment comes since I hadn’t expected her to kneel. Around when I was feeling bewildered thinking my pace gets disrupted whenever I get entangled with Rumi. Rumi looks up at me while still kneeling and slowly speaks.

“So I’ll definitely repay this favor later.” “Not needed.” “No. It’s right to repay it somehow… if there’s anything where you need my help, you can tell me anytime even at dawn… ah I can’t go out. I’ll help however I can as much as possible.”

Though she usually walks around crouched due to rock bottom self-esteem. She shows excessively firm conviction in strange places. Looking at Rumi who confidently says she’ll repay while her whole body is trembling, I let out a sigh and continued speaking.

“Do as you want.” “… Yes! I’ll write you a promissory note too!”

That promissory note again. Moreover, I don’t understand why she keeps trying to write promissory notes when this isn’t even about money. Though I thought about correcting her somewhat distorted common sense, seeing her stubbornness, I decided to just give up since it didn’t seem like it would be corrected anyway.

The next day as soon as I attended the academy, the principal called for me, so I reached the principal’s office enduring the hassle. Thinking it must be to investigate yesterday’s group violence incident and the incident of the family’s knights intruding. When I opened the door thinking things would get quite bothersome from now on, quite an alien sight was spread out.

‘Why are those bastards all kneeling?’

I see the noble kids who participated in yesterday’s violence sitting kneeled in a line. Around when I couldn’t hide my bewilderment since I hadn’t expected to see such a sight in the principal’s office. The principal got up from his seat as soon as he saw me, then quickly approached and opened his mouth.

“Student Deren, you’ve come.”

I don’t know which wrong point to pick out first. While feeling slightly dizzy thinking I absolutely couldn’t understand the current situation. The principal guided me to a seat and explained the details of the situation with a bright smiling face.

“I sincerely apologize for the violent incident that occurred yesterday.” “……” “Though I have no words even with ten mouths since this all happened due to the academy’s negligent management, the fact that all faculty members stepped up to resolve the situation as much as possible and…”

Though the professors were at fault for failing to manage and supervise since it was an assault incident on test day. But it’s somewhat questionable for the principal to lower his posture and apologize to this degree. Around when I was thinking isn’t this too much, clues that could roughly understand the reason flowed from the principal’s mouth.

“So please don’t be too angry, and won’t you tell the chairman that your anger has subsided?”

Chairman. At that one word, I could roughly understand the reason.

‘One of the Lercier family members was the academy’s chairman.’

Uncle was it, or aunt. Though I don’t remember exactly, I nodded recalling that this incident was buried for similar reasons in the novel too.

‘In the novel too, Deren stepped up and said to treat it as if it never happened.’

Thinking the reason such a violent incident was glossed over despite occurring must have been largely due to the Lercier family’s influence and the chairman’s influence, I smiled wryly. Around when I was thinking I roughly understand that bastard Deren’s actions since he had such powerful authority backing him. Suddenly looking at the noble students kneeling in the corner, I made a puzzled voice.

“So what about those guys?” “Ah those ones are the perpetrators who participated in this violent incident. They’re students who came themselves to beg forgiveness.”

The principal finished those words and handed me the perpetrator list while speaking.

“Those students say they’ll gladly accept any punishment if you just forgive them, so I would be really grateful if you could forgive them if possible.”

When I skimmed through the list the principal held out, I could roughly understand the context of why they were acting like that.

‘Full of children from rural noble families or declining noble families.’

Thinking I can picture how Ariel managed to seduce so many students somehow, I closed my eyes.

‘She must have seduced them saying she’d provide financial support, or help them get positions after graduation using the Heaven God cult’s power.’

From their perspective who had neither money to have nor positions to get. It must have been quite a welcome proposal since their lives could bloom brightly just by bullying one commoner girl.

‘Right, to them she was just a commoner after all.’

A commoner who didn’t matter even if broken and destroyed. Thinking I’m strangely boiling with anger at that fact. I calmly conveyed my requirements to the principal.

“In exchange for treating it as if it never happened, I’ll attach one condition.”

The principal quickly nodded seemingly pleased at not having to expel many students at once. I briefly stated my requirement to such principal.

“I want to give them a line beating.”
