The Female Lead Found My Suicide Note

Chapter 7 - Test (2)

Test (2)

– [Warning]

Please don’t give up as hints will be provided after certain time passes.
If you can’t solve any problems, there will be additional supplementary classes. –

When I opened the magic book, the first thing shown was the warning. A warning hoping all students would solve at least one problem. Thinking this is the first time I’ve seen such things written so openly, I skimmed through the problems.

‘They don’t look that difficult.’

A level that could be solved with just basic magical knowledge. Of course for the fourth and fifth problems, there were things to think about for a moment but. Thinking it wasn’t such a difficult level, I slowly filled in the answers.

[Correct answer. Please solve the next problem.]

Each time I write down an answer, it judges in real-time whether the answer is correct and tells the result. Thinking this method is quite fun while solving problems. I stopped my hand for a moment looking at the last problem.

‘Magic efficiency 10% huh.’

Actually, raising efficiency by 10% isn’t very difficult. It was just a matter of removing useless formulas, or modifying formula parts that reduce power into more suitable forms. Therefore solving it itself didn’t take very long, but the problem was that needless competitiveness arose.

‘… If I do well I think I could raise it up to 30%.’

Whether it’s because I’ve been continuing only research until now, or because my specialty came up, I’m not sure but. Thinking just 10% is far from enough, I started solving that problem.

‘Of course since the goal is to solve problems as quickly as possible, I can’t invest too much time.’

Thinking it should be fine to invest a few minutes, I filled in the answer. When I finished filling in all answers for the fifth problem like that, text floats up above the magic book.

[Reviewing…]

Perhaps because it actually activates magic within the magic book, unlike other problems it takes a few seconds. Then as ‘Correct answer’ text appears, the magic book turns blue.

[You have gotten all problems correct! Please proceed outside the auditorium to take the second test.]

Along with the text, when I confirmed it showed ‘1st Place Lercier Deren’ in the center and was slowly trying to exit. Startled voices are heard from around the auditorium.

“10 minutes…? No, he already solved everything in less than 10 minutes?” “I’m still solving the first problem…” “Was Deren always this good at theory?”

Though it’s during the test, since they brought all first-year students numbering about 300, seems they couldn’t prevent voices from leaking out. I exited through the door leaving behind the astounded voices coming from behind.

When I came out, one of the professors speaks to me in a bewildered voice.

“You’ve already solved everything?”

When I nodded slightly at those words, the professor makes a somewhat disgruntled expression while checking the time and confirms again.

“In 10 minutes? Those problems?” “……”

Since even answering became bothersome, when I stared silently. The professor seemed to come to their senses then and spoke to me while clearing their throat.

“Anyway good work… I’ll explain about the second test. The second test content is reaching the designated target point.”

When I nodded silently, they continue with more detailed explanation.

“For reference, there are numerous phantoms to the target point, so advance through in a way that suits you. Like using invisibility magic to pass secretly, or using pushing magic to pass through.”

In Rumi’s case, since interference kept coming from around her, she seemed to have no choice but to quickly pass through using running magic. In my case since there was no particular need for that, I decided to choose another method.

“As long as it’s not cheating like magic tools, whatever method you use to pass through doesn’t matter, so try to arrive as quickly and efficiently as possible.”

When I nodded again, the professor checks the time and tells me.

“For reference, you can challenge the practical test in teams of 4, so let’s wait until other students come out.”

At those words, I contemplated for a moment and asked one question.

“I know I can proceed alone.” “…Alone? Though it’s possible according to test regulations, since the danger is quite large, I recommend proceeding with at least 3 people.” “It doesn’t matter.” “Um… once the test starts retests are impossible, is that still okay?” “Yes.”

At my stubborn insistence, the professor’s lips twitched then spoke as if giving up.

“Then I’ll note it as proceeding alone. Tell me when you’re ready.” “Please proceed right away.” “Right away?… Um. No. If you want to give up during the test, stretch your hand up and wave, we’ll come rescue you right away.”

Perhaps thinking my actions were just recklessness. The professor emphasized emergency response methods several times in a worried voice. While listening to such explanation, I stood in place and nodded conveying my wish for the test to start soon.

“Then I’ll start the test.”

The blocked door opens with the professor’s final words. I quickly scanned around while entering through the opened door.

‘It’s similar to the academy’s main building as described in the novel.’

Though it’s a much reduced form compared to the main building, the feeling of similarity couldn’t be hidden. I imprinted such geographical features in my mind while running forward.

‘First two phantom goblins huh.’

Since it’s the start, creatures classified as the weakest monsters appeared. Looking at the thick wooden clubs they were holding, I pulled up mana to use attack magic but.

‘Come to think of it, they’re just phantoms right?’

I changed plans as a method came to mind that could handle them faster than breaking through with attack magic. I decided to try using the ‘magic breaking technique’ I discovered while researching as I ran forward.

‘Breaking itself isn’t very difficult. After grasping the magic, shake up the opponent’s magic to steal ownership. Then just break it.’

Though the method itself is simple so using it isn’t difficult. There’s the disadvantage that stealing becomes exponentially harder if the opponent’s level is similar or higher than mine. Therefore it has the disadvantage of needing to be used depending on the situation but.

‘Fortunately since professors are watching the test from far away while using it now.’

The magic given to individual phantoms wasn’t that strong.

‘Added to that, they probably deliberately made it weak to adjust test difficulty.’

Therefore thinking this level could be broken without much difficulty, after stealing the magic’s ownership. When I tried to distort the magic itself to eliminate it.

‘Wait, is there any need to burst it?’

Thinking about it, rather than eliminating them it seemed better to use them in reverse. Just in case, I tried giving a brief command to the goblins.

“Grrrr!”

I tried just in case, but it really works. While smiling with satisfaction seeing the phantom goblins whose ownership I stole charging straight into enemy lines. Then shaking off the smile, I organized the current situation.

‘As long as I can handle the mana, I can steal and turn them back as much as I want.’

Thinking that means I could also burst opponent’s magic before it goes out. I decided to dig deeper into this later.

“… What did that student just do?” Ending with Head Professor Melwin’s bewildered voice, the professors spoke up one by one with startled voices.

“After stealing ownership of others’ magic… seems he’s using it.” “Is that possible? What do you mean stealing ownership. That can’t be possible.” “… There’s no other way to explain it.”

The professors couldn’t hide their shock when they saw magic stealing, which even 5th circle magicians treated as key combat personnel couldn’t easily do, happening before their eyes. Of course there were no professors here who couldn’t use that magic but. They couldn’t believe a 1st circle magician who was still just a student was easily using it.

“I don’t understand how that’s possible… is it because he’s from the Lercier family?” “Even saying that, other prestigious family’s children couldn’t do such things.” “That means this student Deren is extraordinarily exceptional… how fascinating.”

Given the academy’s characteristics of gathering all sorts of geniuses, they rarely got surprised by student talent unless it was extraordinary. Melwin couldn’t hide her excitement since this was the first case she’d seen in her 20 years of teaching.

“Whether this is coincidence or not… no, it can’t be coincidence. Seeing how he’s stealing phantom’s ownership and using them. Though I don’t know how this is possible, if this is purely that student Deren’s ability, it’s clear considerable ripples will come.”

At those words, the professors watched Deren’s figure with expressions soaked in greed and anticipation. Though it would be difficult to easily make him their disciple given his family background. If they could make it happen, it was clear it would be infinite help for their research.

Therefore while they were each contemplating how to recruit him. An alarm appeared that Deren succeeded in defeating even the final boss.

“One thing certain here is first place is confirmed. No one else could record a higher score than this.”

At those words, all professors nodded and agreed.

After stealing ownership of the ogre phantom, the test’s final boss, and bursting it, I slowly looked around. Perhaps because I perfectly finished the test, congratulatory text appeared here and there celebrating my test.

‘Well whatever, what’s important now isn’t this.’

Since I had some confidence I could easily clear the test, it wasn’t something I was particularly worried about. What’s really important was the upcoming Rumi incident. Since Ariel gave me a hint that she would attack Rumi on the rooftop, I let out a sigh deciding to prepare appropriately on the rooftop.

‘Now then, let me warm up a bit.’

After making appropriate countermeasures, I decided to wait on the rooftop until the incident occurs.
