The CEO's Wife Is A Demon God's Daughter

Chapter 948 948: Her Vow

Cassie dropped to the ground in a sitting position. She covered her face using both hands as she began to sob. Her body was trembling. Scarlet didn't know what to do. How would she comfort her master?

Cassie continued to cry, shedding more tears when suddenly someone kneeled in front of her. She thought it was Scarlet who wanted to comfort her. She could feel her hand stroking her hair.

"Stop crying," a faint masculine voice resounded.

Cassie's body stiffened when she recognized that voice. She lowered her hands and looked at the person before him. She was surprised to see Flint.

Cassie was at a loss for words for several seconds. 'Why is he comforting me?'

"I'm sorry… for making you cry," Flint spoke again, looking away guiltily.

When Flint apologized, Cassie pushed him away. "Are you another illusion, trying to deceive me?"

"You are not him. He would never apologize to me because I don't matter to him! All he cares about is Ella!" Cassie stood up, maintaining her distance from Flint. She was still crying.

"Master, calm down," Scarlet intervened. She was with them.

Hearing her voice, Cassie turned in her direction. She gave Scarlet a questioning gaze. "Scarlet. Tell me. He is just an illusion, right? Get rid of him.

I don't want to see him… even his illusion!"

Scarlet just remained silent. She didn't know how she would respond to Cassie. She could feel that her master was in pain. She was sad and heartbroken because of Flint.

Cassie was still waiting for Scarlet to say a word when they heard a thud. They turned in the direction of that sound only to see Flint lying on the ground.

He was panting and he felt so weak. Cassie noticed that Flint was in pain. Unable to control her worries about him, Cassie approached him.

"Flint! What's wrong?!" Cassie's resolve wavered. She couldn't bear to see Flint in pain.

Flint held her arm and apologized once more. "I'm sorry. Don't cry anymore… just because of me. I don't deserve it."

It did not take long before Cassie saw the blood. Flint was bleeding on the left side of his stomach. His shirt was soaked in his own blood.

"Oh, my God! You're bleeding! Who did this to you?" Cassie immediately placed her hand on his stab wound to stop the bleeding.

Flint didn't answer her. He just gave her an apologetic smile. Unknown to Cassie, Flint didn't stab her in his subconscious. He stabbed himself in order to wake up from that illusion. He was trapped and he needed to escape on his own.

He felt so ashamed knowing that Cassie was always the one saving his ass… protecting him. He thought he didn't deserve it.

He even realized how much pain he inflicted on her when he saw her crying. He cursed himself over and over again. He felt sorry for Cassie. Seeing her cry brought a pang of pain deep inside his heart.

He wanted to comfort her. So with his remaining strength, he approached her and kneeled in front of her, a while ago. He was glad that Cassie pushed him because he deserved it.

Flint already felt chilly inside out. He became weaker because he was losing some blood.

"Scarlet, help me. We should treat his wound. He might die if he loses more blood." Cassie's panicked voice resounded in the area.

"Get a hold of yourself, Cassie!" Scarlet reminded her. Her master was losing her calm and composure when it came to Flint. She truly loved Flint unconditionally.

Cassie made sure to warm Flint's body. She pulled him close to her, hugging him in her arms. Scarlet helped her in stopping his bleeding.

"Master, hop in. We have to continue our journey, otherwise, we can't leave this place. We have to pass through the three borders. That is the only way Flint can survive this." Scarlet transformed into her fox form. She motioned her master to ride on her back.

Cassie wiped away her tears and bobbed her head. She immediately carried Flint as they rode on Scarlet's back. Scarlet began to move. She increased her speed as they were running out of time.

In no time, they reached the boundary between the Border of Mist and the Dark Forest. Flint was leaning on Cassie while she was hugging him from behind. Her right hand was pressed against his stab wound.

"Flint, don't sleep. Stay awake…" Cassie whispered in his ear.

Flint could only smile. He was too weak to speak up. He only moved his head in a response to her.

'This woman… I don't know why she cares so much about me. Despite everything, she always tries to protect me. I made her cry several times.' Flint was feeling so guilty. But he couldn't force his heart to love her. Ella was the woman occupying his heart.

His love for her was still like unfinished business. Before he could glance at another woman, Flint must confess her feelings to Ella. It would be in vain if he couldn't tell her that he loved her.

"Flint… are you still awake?" Cassie called his attention. She was afraid that Flint would fall asleep in his current state.

Her voice snapped him back to the present. He put his hands over hers, tapping the back of her palm tenderly. This was his way of telling her that he was awake.

Cassie heaved a sigh of relief. She hugged him tightly and buried her face in his back. She was worried sick about Flint. She thought she could give up on him. But seeing Flint in his vulnerable state, Cassie couldn't help but look after him.

'How I wish I could take away his pain. I thought I could let him go… but still I can't. I don't want anything bad to happen to him. Please… stay alive Flint. If he survives this, I promise… I will not give him a hard time. I will no longer pester him.

I will no longer show my love and affection to him so that he will not feel guilty and sorry for me… since he can't reciprocate my feelings.' Cassie made a vow in exchange for Flint's survival.
