The 7th Great God (Overlord Fan Fiction)

Chapter 77: Theocracy Encounters (2)

The bystanders looked on with mixed feelings. Here someone was, killing in the middle of the street. This was the same thought going through their minds. However, it was from very different perspectives. The elves, dwarves and the human's with enough sense were aiming those thoughts at the three instigators. The humans who thought themselves superior to the other races were furious with Night Silver.

"How dare a lowly elf lay attack a human!" Some of the humans in the crowd began to shout out, unbothered by the damage it would do to their image.

Night Silver ignored the foolish ones and picked up the two children who ran out to see her. They were both still shaking. It would take a moment for them to calm down even in Night Silver's arms. To help with their nerves, each received a kiss on their foreheads.

"Alright, you two. That was scary wasn't it." Night Silver smiled holding the two close. "I'm happy you wanted to see me so much. Next time though, make sure it's safe before coming over." She added, trying to get this lesson through to them. The last thing I want is to see any of them die from this extreme nonsense.

"Yes, mommy. But, it's always safe around you." The girl answered, still with tears in her eyes.

"Mommy, can you stay and play with us? I want to hear that bedtime story again." The boy asked, trying to hold his tears back.

"Pfft, I'll be here in the city for a while. So go on and tell the others about my return." Night Silver said, and a fenrir appeared beside her, ready to take the children to safety.

"Yay! fenfen! " The children exclaimed with some laughter as the two pet and hugged it.

"Run along now and make sure that all of my people remain safe." Night Silver commanded, the fenrir nodded and took off.

At this point the crowds that had gathered finally realized that the elf they were shouting at could only ever be one person, Nature's Mother. Or in other words, the 7th of the great gods and also the most mighty of them all. A sudden sense of dread came over the humans who thought themselves superior. It was like nothing else they had ever felt. And it was for more than one reason… A few elves and dwarfs had come over to greet their mother goddess, also for more than one reason.

"Welcome home mother, you look as lovely as ever." An elven man started, his voice was a bit shaky though.

"You idiot, now mother knows it's worse than just this. It's too terrible…" One of the dwarves quickly said, risking ire at the interjection.

"I know I've been away for some time now. But our friendship with the rational dragon lords kept me away for some time. And then I wanted to explore the world a bit. I actually have another settlement currently under construction. And there, the people are far more kind than here." Night Silver began, patting both of the speakers on the head. "Now, tell me… How much worse is it?" She continued, as another person appeared.

"It's good to see you again, Sister Nature." The goddess of water said, as she paid zero attention to the humans that were currently suffering the consequences of their actions.

"It's good to see you too, unfortunately there were some individuals who made an effort to taint our reunion. They even tried to kill two children in the process." Night Silver replied, hiding her fury with a smile, what gave her away was the slightest of twitches on her left eyebrow.

"I see, so these three decided they wanted to kill those we risked everything to protect." The Goddess of water sighed, and hugged Night Silver. "I'm sorry that happened. I didn't expect it to get this bad in just a week." She continued, with a light squeeze and nuzzle.

"No one could have expected this. I don't blame you. And it's not like I could have arrived any sooner. But now that I've seen this, I'm going to have all of my people move. I'll help them build a separate place to live. Away from human supremacist nonsense." Night Silver said, returning the hug. "Fortunately none of my people have been killed…" She continued, then noticed the hug got a little tighter.

"There were 3 murders 2 days ago." The Goddess of water whispered in a solemn tone. "2 were elves and 1 was a human that didn't agree with the supremacists that murdered them." She said, breaking the news to Night Silver was definitely not an easy thing to do. I have to make sure that there was at least some shared pain in this matter. Otherwise I fear that my friend might lose it entirely.

"They… They dared to kill my children… Where are they?" Night Silver said as her voice turned icy cold, and her serious side came out.

"We have them in custody. I wanted to kill them for their crimes… But, brother Wind said we should try to reform them." The Goddess of water answered, trembling. "People can't just change like that. Not once they've become so fixated and drunk on their own self importance. We all should have known this from the beginning… And…" She continued, then swapped to a message spell. "I fear that the other gods have started to go down that path. Oddly enough Brother Death is much the same as always. He seems to be the only other logical one remaining." She conveyed her worry's.

Night Silver furrowed her eyes. "I see, well, since this is the case it just means I get to avenge my children with my own two hands. And then we can have a joyous and grand physical reunion." She said, ending the hug. "Oh, but these three here, I'm killing them. They don't deserve mercy when they dared to kill children. And so readily at that." She continued, burning the three evils to nothing more than ash in a matter of mere moments. "They also called me a demon." She sighed as a gust of wind blew their cindered remains around.

"What? How dare they! You're no demon and those children are so cute. Death is a fitting end for those three foolish ones." The goddess of water said in a state of shock.
