Chapter 22: The Art of Art
Mc pov—
From the day I got Art, I dedicated my weekends—Saturday and Sunday—to training with it. I needed to understand its strengths and weaknesses. Afterward, I always visited the blacksmith, though I never asked his name. I simply called him "Master," and he was fine with that.
He made it clear that Art wasn't just any sword—it was typically wielded by royals and sold for millions of Luna by other blacksmiths. Yet, for some reason, he had given it to me. He believed I would make his hard work worthwhile. Money didn't matter to him; he wanted his craft to be recognized. My reaction to receiving Art had already made him feel proud—something he hadn't experienced before, since others had always downplayed his work. Hearing that only made me want to help him even more.
During my training, I discovered that Art couldn't hold two elements at once. If one element was already infused in the blade, a new one would gradually push it out. When an element is poured in, it moves from the hilt to the tip. So if the sword is filled with fire magic and I add water, the fire remains at the tip until the water takes over completely. For a few seconds, the sword can hold both elements, but never permanently.
Using Art was similar to bending or summoning elements with my body—except instead of fire coming from my hands, it would flow through the blade. But there was a catch: the sword required constant energy. If I was exhausted, overwhelmed, or out of mana, it became nothing more than a lifeless hunk of metal.
One day, Storm came by and asked me to escort him to a magic shop for healing stones. Before we left, I had him touch Art to see what would happen if someone else held it. As expected, it remained light and useless, like a toy. Out of curiosity, I asked him to try breaking it—something I immediately regretted. To my horror, it shattered.
Panic set in. Had I just ruined one of the rarest swords ever forged? But as soon as I touched the pieces and poured in my fire magic, the sword restored itself, returning to its original form. I let out a breath of relief.
After that terrifying moment, I followed Storm to the magic shop. While there, I picked up a few healing stones for myself, along with a spellbook on summoning magic doors for transportation. Storm grabbed some equipment as well.
