Chapter 21: New Sword
Mc pov
On Saturdays and Sundays—though here they're called the 6th and 7th days—I still prefer using the names I'm familiar with. My mornings follow the same routine: sword practice, meditation, magic training, and a run. I do this to grow comfortable with these skills, especially since I never did anything like this in my past life.
Lately, though, my sword hasn't felt as comfortable to wield. I've used it since I was six, and while I have no plans to stop—it's a gift from my dad, after all—I knew it was time for a new one. I also needed some magic equipment. So, after finishing my routine, I went to find Storm to come with me to the blacksmith's shop. Since students aren't allowed to leave campus, everything we need is provided on-site. I think this applies to all academies here.
When I reached Storm's room, he was nowhere to be found, so I decided to go alone.
At the blacksmith's shop, the swords on display were impressive, ranging from 10,000 to 35,000 Luna. But none of them were quite right—I needed something flexible and portable, a sword I could carry forever alongside my old one. When I asked the blacksmith if he had anything more fitting, he warned me that the best swords were expensive. I insisted on seeing them.
After disappearing into a back room, he returned with a sword that almost looked transparent. My eyes lit up as he explained:
"This sword adapts to its wielder's elemental affinity. If you have more than one, its color changes depending on the magic you use, and it helps stabilize your spells. Earth users can turn it gold, silver, or even diamond—though only the strongest can achieve diamond. For wind users, it remains transparent, but with enough mastery, it can become completely invisible. Water users turn it blue, and at higher levels, the blade can transform into water or ice. Fire users will see shades of red, yellow, and orange, resembling flames. At advanced levels, it can burn white or blue-hot. This sword is incredibly rare—it takes years to forge. In fact, this one took me ten years to make."
I was in awe. I couldn't stop shouting, "I want it! I want it!"—until he mentioned the price: 120,000 Luna. I only had 90,000. I stared at him in disbelief. Can't this man be a little more reasonable? I'm just a kid!
Then, Lucius stepped in. "Let me handle it," he said.
I agreed, and the next thing I knew, I was outside the shop, holding the sword. Lucius had bargained the price down to 80,000 Luna and even got the blacksmith to perform a bonding ritual, making me the only one who could wield it. In return, I had to occasionally help the blacksmith with his work. That was fine by me—after all, it took him ten years to make that sword. The least I could do was lend a hand.
Now that I had two swords, I decided to name them. The one from my dad, I called Ax—a mix of the last two letters of my name, Ajax, and my dad's name, Alex. My new sword, I named Art.
Since I was nearly out of money, I couldn't buy any magic equipment. Instead, I went back to my room and decided to keep Art hidden for now—only to be used when necessary.
