Reincarnated in Naruto World with a System

Chapter 14: The Sannin Lay it Out

The training stadium was packed with students. Uchiha Tatsumi's first reaction was to notice the sheer number of people. Mikoto followed him quietly, not making a sound. It was clear she was very interested in this outdoor class. On a normal day, she would occasionally pull Tatsumi aside and talk quietly, but not today.

"The infamous three are quite popular in Konoha", Tatsumi thought, referring to the trio known for their various reputations. Of course, this was for most people who didn't truly know them.

The Academy was founded by the Second Hokage, and after the Third Hokage took office, it underwent major renovations and expansions. The Academy now boasted a super large training stadium with various training facilities added one after another. This not only represented the village's emphasis on the Academy but also showcased Hokage and Konoha's commitment to nurturing commoner ninjas.

This robust system allowed Konoha to produce one genius after another, like leeks popping up from the ground. The saying that Konoha was the cradle of genius wasn't just a casual remark. Despite having figures like Danzo who could destroy geniuses, new talents emerged continuously. This was inseparable from the perfect Academy system.

"Okay, little demons, please be quiet," a voice boomed.

Jiraiya, now 16 years old in Konoha Year 26, stood on a wooden platform built on the training stadium. Besides his Jonin attire, he looked no different from the future Toad Sage with his long white hair giving off a delinquent vibe. His voice, infused with Chakra, carried clearly across the entire stadium without the need for a loudspeaker.

"Let's start with a self-introduction. I believe many of you already know our names."

"Yes, my name is the famous Jiraiya, Konoha's outstanding Jonin, a genius ninja who is both handsome and smart." Jiraiya grinned, basking in his self-praise.

"The one next to me is Orochimaru, my teammate and subordinate, and this one is Tsunade."

When Jiraiya called Orochimaru his subordinate, Orochimaru's expression subtly shifted. Dare to say it, indeed. As Jiraiya spoke, Tsunade nodded and waved to the students, her golden hair looking radiant and beautiful. The boys in the audience immediately became excited. Orochimaru, the future Snake Sannin, also nodded politely to the students.

"This time, we came to the Academy mainly because our teacher, the Third Hokage, asked us. As the future of Hidden Leaf Village, he hopes to make you more aware of what you will face in the Ninja World. So, the three of us are here to guide you."

"Long live Third Hokage! Thank you, Lord Hokage! Long live Jiraiya-sensei! Long live Lady Tsunade! Long live Orochimaru-sensei!"

The initially quiet atmosphere quickly became animated, and Jiraiya showed his knack for engaging the crowd. Almost all students were excited about this decision by the Third Hokage. These slogans were shouted voluntarily, especially by the commoner ninjas, who outnumbered the clan ninjas. The atmosphere in the training stadium was electric.

This wasn't just about Konoha's politics but about cultivating an impressive image. After all, they had to start nurturing their future from a young age. And beyond the initial steps, it was necessary to "work hard and implement it." Of course, a bit of acting skills, like a movie star, wouldn't hurt.

Danzo's harsh policies and appearance were no secret. However, the benefits provided to these children were genuine.

"Orochimaru, it's your turn now," Jiraiya said, stepping back to give his close friend the floor.

"…Understood," Orochimaru replied calmly. With pale skin and a composed demeanor, he walked up to the platform.

"The day is short, and there are only three of us. Therefore, we won't be using the usual one-on-one method for this outdoor training session. The rules need to be adjusted," Orochimaru announced, printing hand seals with both hands.

The training stadium began to transform rapidly. Platforms started to rise, forming several high stages where battles could be conducted.

"If you want to grow into a towering tree that supports Konoha, you need enough battles. So show your strength, young ninjas. We will be watching you," Orochimaru declared.

"Here are the rules: each grade will form a team of the top three students. These teams will then compete against teams from other grades. Finally, the top three in the school will receive guidance from Jiraiya, Tsunade, and me," Orochimaru explained.

"If I see any particularly outstanding students, you can also ask me for guidance in the future. My promise will always stand."

The Academy was not just a place for theoretical knowledge. It encouraged practical training and healthy competition among students. No student had any objections to the rules set by Orochimaru.

"Here are the boxes for drawing numbers. Each grade will have one. If you draw the same number as someone else, you will go to the stage to fight, and the winner will participate in the next round of drawing," Jiraiya continued, moving the boxes to the platforms.

"Don't worry, everyone will get a chance."

Next to the platform, the grade numbers were written down. Uchiha Tatsumi and Mikoto approached "Platform No. 2." Jiraiya, who was nearby, addressed them.

"Mikoto, you go first," Tatsumi said with a shrug. The Academy had a large number of students, with around two or three hundred per grade. The training stadium was filled with nearly a thousand students.

"Okay," Mikoto nodded obediently and reached for the number box in front of her.

"Wait a minute," Tatsumi said, grabbing Mikoto's hand. He made a hand seal, and the number box transformed into a kunai.

"Lord-Jiraiya, that's quite a trick," Tatsumi remarked.

"Ha ha ha, some necessary warnings are part of being a ninja. Little demon, what is your name?" Jiraiya laughed, noticing the clan emblems on Mikoto and Tatsumi.

"Uchiha Tatsumi."

"You found traces of Genjutsu immediately. Not bad, not bad. Worthy of an Uchiha. Your strength is impressive, and you were the first to notice it," Jiraiya said, looking around the stadium. The other number boxes were still intact, with no signs of Genjutsu being dispelled.

"Good luck, that's all," Tatsumi replied, shaking his head. He didn't feel complacent despite Jiraiya's praise. This was just a simple Genjutsu to him.

"Go ahead, Mikoto."

"Okay."

"What's your number?" Tatsumi asked.

"Six," Mikoto answered, holding up her number.

Tatsumi reached into the number box and pulled out an eight.

Following Tatsumi were Nawaki, then Minato, and finally Nara, Akimichi, and the more peripheral children.

While the order of drawing numbers seemed random, there was an unspoken rule that the strongest students drew first. Tatsumi, being in the second year, would have drawn first but gave the opportunity to Mikoto, then Nawaki, Minato, Nara, Akimichi, and Yamanaka.

"What's your number?" Tatsumi leaned toward Minato.

"It's number one. I'm going to be the first to play," Minato said with a smile, his blonde hair shining as he walked onto the platform.
