Quirkless Hero

Chapter 144: Chapter 144: Chisaki's Intentions

Midoriya Izuku's expression darkened. After extracting information from Onima Jin, he was barely able to contain his growing anger as he learned what Shie Hassaikai had been up to.

He tied up Chisaki's childhood friend and his companions, then turned his gaze toward the main hall of the mansion.

Looking back, he said, "Shinso, thank you... You should head back now."

"Wait, Midoriya!?"

Shinso Hitoshi was shocked. He had already understood the situation from what he had just heard. This wasn't something anyone could just walk away from.

"You've already helped me a lot. I can't let you get dragged into this any further."

"But—"

As Shinso hesitated, Midoriya Izuku bowed deeply to him again.

"If you still think of me as a friend, then go back!"

"I..."

Shinso's raised hand fell helplessly to his side. Midoriya clearly didn't want him to be further involved, even though he had invited him to help in the first place.

"What a selfish guy..."

"Fine, Midoriya... Just promise me you'll come back safely!"

"I will. I promise."

With their final exchange, the two parted ways, each heading in a different direction. Shinso Hitoshi walked toward the exit, returning to the path of a hero. Midoriya Izuku moved deeper into the mansion, stepping into the shadows.

In the underground secret lab, Chisaki was waiting. This was the information Midoriya had extracted from Onima Jin. Shie Hassaikai's young leader had been there all along, but his original target was All Might.

Had All Might come tonight, he would have likely fallen into their trap.

Shie Hassaikai had carefully set this bait, using Eri as part of their elaborate scheme. They spread false narratives in society to make it seem like a loyal criminal organization was working tirelessly for the sake of their young mistress.

But both Midoriya Izuku and All Might knew the truth. The reality was the exact opposite of the story they portrayed. These villains were conducting horrifying experiments by torturing a 7-year-old girl for their own evil purposes.

Midoriya had already learned the truth from Jin Onimoto, and it only made him even angrier. Treating a child like that—these scumbags really had no limits.

For the underworld to rise to power, they needed to weaken and destroy hero society. That's why All Might became [Shie Hassaikai]'s target. By exploiting Eri's situation and creating a scene that disgusted people, they aimed to push All Might into action. He wouldn't stand by and watch as villains carried out such evil deeds.

But without solid evidence, any action All Might took would seem impulsive and baseless. This would give the underworld an opportunity to smear the [Symbol of Peace], painting themselves as honorable and noble—spouting nonsense about loyalty and righteousness.

If All Might had come tonight, the officers of [Shie Hassaikai] planned to lure him into their underground lab. Meanwhile, the rest of the organization would immediately call the police to report the situation.

Although All Might was incredibly strong, Chisaki knew he didn't have the power to trap him. But there was someone who could.

All For One, the leader of the [League of Villains], had been working with [Shie Hassaikai]. If All Might did fall into their trap, All For One wouldn't mind showing up personally to keep him there for a while.

Any destruction caused in the process, or civilians harmed by the fight, could easily be blamed on the [Symbol of Peace]. The dead wouldn't be able to speak up in All Might's defense.

If things played out that way, with the underworld fueling public outrage, the narrative would likely shift to something like this:

"Why did All Might go to [Shie Hassaikai]?"

"All those deaths—it's all because of All Might!"

"My God, what is All Might even doing?!"

If such a scenario unfolded, decades of All Might's work and sacrifices would be overshadowed by doubt and criticism. The trust people had in the [Symbol of Peace] would crumble.

But tonight, it wasn't All Might who showed up—it was Midoriya Izuku. While this might have disappointed the gang, it made little difference to All For One. To him, it didn't matter who came... in fact, he might even be more interested in Midoriya.

Inside the mansion, Midoriya located the entrance to the secret passage. With a wave of his right hand, steel wires slashed through the floor, breaking it apart and revealing the staircase beneath.

He stepped inside, navigating through the passage and past the lab, heading straight for a large open space underground. This was the spot where [Shie Hassaikai] and the [League of Villains] planned to trap All Might.

The arrangement was simple: [Shie Hassaikai] would lure All Might here, while the [League of Villains] would ensure he couldn't leave, at least until the police and reporters arrived.

Once the area was left in ruins and [Shie Hassaikai] made their accusations, even All Might wouldn't be able to explain himself.

Chisaki, who had been waiting in the open space, turned at the sound of footsteps. What he saw caught him by surprise.

"It's you?"

Midoriya Izuku, also known as [Akaya Kaiun] and often referred to as the [Steel Wire Death God], was a well-known and highly promising student from U.A. High School. He had stunned everyone by winning first place at the Sports Festival, captured the [Hero Killer] during his internship, and heroically fought against the [League of Villains] to rescue a child. Many saw him as a future great hero.

And now, Midoriya Izuku stood face-to-face with Chisaki.

"Why are you here? Where are Kurono and Onimoto?!"

"I have no idea who you're talking about. And right now, I'm the one asking the questions."

Midoriya's cold response left Chisaki momentarily stunned.

How had this kid made it here?!

Chisaki couldn't help but question internally. How had this kid made it through all his trusted subordinates and the many members of [Shie Hassaikai] without causing a huge commotion? Even All Might would have made some noise fighting his way here.

As Chisaki carefully prepared to make a move, Midoriya spoke.

"Why are you treating Eri like this? She's your boss's granddaughter, isn't she?"

"You want to know that?!"

Chisaki paused his attack. He didn't mind letting this kid understand a few things before he died.

"Eri's Quirk is incredibly powerful. You must know about how her Quirk made her father disappear, right?"

"...Yes."

After a brief silence, Midoriya replied. Chisaki spread his hands and began to explain loudly:

"Through my research, I discovered that Eri's Quirk can erase a person's Quirk if controlled within a certain range. Right now, it only lasts for about an hour, but with further research, I can develop a drug that can permanently erase Quirks."

"What?!"

Midoriya Izuku was shocked. Taking advantage of this, Chisaki rushed toward him without hesitation, his hand aiming for Midoriya.

"Using Eri's blood and flesh, I can fix this twisted hero society!"
