Chapter 143: Chapter 143: The Officers of Shie Hassaikai
The members of [Shie Hassaikai] had collapsed one by one, and white smoke covered the entire mansion. After about five minutes, the smoke started to thin out.
Seeing the smoke dissipate significantly, Midoriya nodded at Shinso and made a hand gesture—it was time to act.
Seizing the opportunity, the two rushed into the mansion. Midoriya didn't think for a second that the members of [Shie Hassaikai] would all be taken down by that earlier cloud of dust.
From the moment Midoriya saw Chisaki, he had noticed the bird-like mask on his face. It was the kind of mask used by European doctors during the Middle Ages, meant to prevent contact and inhalation from sick patients—essentially, an early version of a gas mask.
Though he wasn't sure why Chisaki always wore it, Midoriya had prepared the knockout gas to be blocked by such masks. This way, he could neutralize most of the members while keeping the interrogation targets awake.
Once inside the mansion, Midoriya made a gesture, and Shinso nodded in understanding. Shinso then created some distance between himself and Midoriya, allowing Midoriya to take the lead.
Since Shinso wasn't suited for direct combat, he stayed behind, ready to seize control of any enemies. Midoriya would handle any surprise attacks head-on.
As the effects of the knockout gas faded and the smoky haze inside the mansion cleared, Midoriya moved cautiously. Suddenly, a figure covered in crystals lunged at him.
In an instant, Midoriya's eyes sharpened as he reacted. His left hand transformed into steel wires, wrapping the attacker into a tight bundle. With a sharp tug from his partially severed left arm, the crystal-covered man was yanked toward Midoriya's feet like a tangled yo-yo.
"Let me go, you damn intruder!"
The crystal man shouted angrily, struggling against the wires. But Midoriya ignored him, instead scanning the area around him. He was now surrounded.
"Was that your little trick from earlier? Too bad it doesn't work on us."
A man in a white robe and bird-like mask stepped forward. He was one of [Shie Hassaikai]'s officers, also wearing a mask similar to Chisaki's, which had protected him from the gas.
"Hey, kid! I know you. They call you the [Steel Wire Reaper], right? Heard you're pretty tough!"
The masked man, a muscular brute, was another officer of [Shie Hassaikai], known for being a battle fanatic.
"Weren't we expecting All Might? Seems like our intel was wrong!"
Another figure, Jin Onimoto, Chisaki's advisor and a skilled manipulator, spoke with a smirk.
"You've got some nerve, kid, barging into [Shie Hassaikai] like this!"
A third man, who had merged his lower body into the ground, growled. He was the head of security for [Shie Hassaikai], fiercely loyal to the organization and notorious for his bad temper.
...
Surrounded by this group, Midoriya showed no sign of panic. Instead, he calmly surveyed the scene and asked,
"Where's Chisaki?"
"You want to see the boss? No problem!"
The man with the white bird-like mask replied. He was Chisaki's childhood friend and current assistant, holding the second-highest position among the officers.
"First, we'll beat you half to death. Then you can crawl to him and beg for mercy!"
The gangsters had no intention of holding back. At Kurono's command, all the officers present lunged at Midoriya.
"By the way, that little trick from earlier wasn't ineffective—it was deliberate. I left you conscious on purpose."
"And, for the record, I could just as easily beat all of you half to death and then go see him."
Midoriya spoke calmly as he began to take action. At that moment, the steel wires burst into motion.
Shinso Hitoshi stood behind him, watching in shock. When did this guy develop a Quirk? And why is it so terrifyingly powerful?!
The crystallized man, now wrapped up like a yo-yo, was hurled with force, slamming into the guy called Kuroono Hari. Both hit the ground and were taken out immediately.
The muscle-bound man, as large as a bull, charged at Midoriya Izuku with a fierce punch. However, just as his fist reached Midoriya's head, it froze mid-air. Countless steel wires wrapped around him from every angle, restraining him completely.
Even the bloodthirsty muscle man from the [League of Villains] couldn't break free from these wires. There was no way this weaker opponent could. His face turned red as he struggled, but it was hopeless.
The fraudster pulled out a handgun and aimed it directly at Midoriya Izuku. But Midoriya didn't even flinch, let alone dodge.
The bullet passed straight through him, phasing out of his body as if nothing had happened. To the enemy, it was completely incomprehensible.
But since he was an enemy, he had to be dealt with. Midoriya swung his right hand, and the steel wires from the [Reaper's Glove] wrapped around Onimoto Jin, tossing him right at Shinso Hitoshi's feet. The guy with the gun clearly didn't have a combat-oriented Quirk, making him the perfect target for Shinso's brainwashing.
"Come over here!"
A man dressed like a monk stepped forward. He was also a member of [Shie Hassaikai]. As several other members ran to him in a panic, the steel wires Midoriya had sent out were deflected by an invisible barrier.
"I've set up a barrier! Attack that kid now!"
Following the monk's command, the group's long-range attackers began using their Quirks.
Sakaki Nenene, Quirk: [Drunkenness]. After activating his Quirk, Midoriya Izuku suddenly felt dizzy, as if he were drunk, unable to stand properly.
"I've got it!"
Kitsuneyama Touya, Quirk: [Thief]. He could instantly teleport anything he saw on someone else to his own hands. In an instant, Midoriya's right hand was empty—the [Reaper's Glove] had disappeared and was now in the enemy's possession.
"I know how important the [Steel Wire Reaper's Glove] is to you. So, we'll destroy it!"
"I'm leaving it to you!"
Doboku Komitsu, Quirk: [Devour]. His jaw and teeth could bite through anything, and his stomach could digest any material.
While Midoriya staggered, barely able to stand, the enemies placed the [Reaper's Glove] in front of their gluttonous ally, their malicious intentions obvious.
They were clearly trying to disgust him. Seeing the glove that had been with him through so much about to be destroyed, Midoriya's anger erupted.
"You trash!"
His right hand transformed into steel wires that burrowed underground. In an instant, they emerged beneath the monk's barrier, wrapping around the enemies and binding them into a massive ball. Midoriya pulled his arm back sharply.
The ball of enemies crashed into the bull-like man, knocking them all out due to the sheer force.
After easily dealing with the [Shie Hassaikai] members, Midoriya used the steel wires from his right hand to retrieve the [Reaper's Glove]. It reformed into his arm once again.
The wires shot out from the glove and bound the subdued enemies tightly. After confirming they were secure, Midoriya snapped the bindings to complete the job.
Using steel wires from his transformed body caused damage, so he had to rely on the glove's wires for capturing enemies.
As Midoriya checked the captured members, he noticed that two were down nearby and one was restrained by Shinso Hitoshi. But someone was missing.
Scanning the area, he couldn't find any sign of the last person. With a smirk, Midoriya taunted,
"So this is what you call a [yakuza] organization? You're not even on par with third-rate villains!"
"You brat! Don't underestimate the yakuza!!"
A rumbling sound came from the ground. To Midoriya's surprise, the terrain shifted, forming a massive mouth that swallowed him whole. In an instant, he disappeared beneath the surface.
"Midoriya!?"
Shinso, who had just managed to brainwash and control Onima Jin, suddenly noticed that Midoriya Izuku had fallen into the enemy's trap. He called out in panic.
At that moment, a man wearing a bird-like mask burst out from the ground, landing motionless on the surface. Shortly after, Midoriya Izuku reappeared above ground, with steel wires that had formed most of his body retracting and returning to normal.
"That's the last one dealt with."
What was supposed to be a trap for their enemy turned into a reversal of roles. The head of Shie Hassaikai, having been found in his hiding spot, collapsed to the ground, unable to move.
"I'm done over here too!"
Shinso pointed at Onima Jin. This guy's Quirk, "Confession," could force others to answer truthfully. However, when he tried to extract Shinso's Quirk through questioning, he inadvertently triggered the brainwashing mechanism, leading to his immediate defeat.
"Thanks for your help."
Midoriya nodded, expressing his gratitude to Shinso Hitoshi once again. Then he walked over to the brainwashed Shie Hassaikai member.
"Now, let's get this guy to tell us where Chisaki is and uncover the whole truth behind this!"
