Primordial Draconic Incubus With A Gourmet Chef System

Chapter 241: A Sudden Change

"You thought of becoming some kind of a hero tonight? But all you're going to be is another dead fool swallowed by my quicksand. Not even your ashes will be left behind." He cackled maniacally.

Pei Buhan remained silent and continued to struggle.

But the employee continued to mock him, relishing in his misfortune.

"You came out here to deal with me after what I said about the pink-haired beauty, didn't you?" His grin curled maliciously. Licking his lips, he continued, "Well, let me tell you. There are ten of us in the Warring Sharks Faction and hundreds in the Black Fire Bandits. After we've had our fun with her, we'll gift her to our brothers to use. And when they're done, she'll be tossed into the cheapest brothel to entertain the filth there. If she isn't already broken by then, they'll break her. HAHAHAHA!"

Pei Buhan's fists trembled and his teeth ground against each other as he spat, "Filth! How dare you speak such vile words!? Just you wait! This old man will kill you with his own hands!"

But the employee only laughed harder. His sneer continued to widen as he watched the old man's futile attempt to escape his Quicksand Pit.

But just then, his maniacal laughter was cut short, replaced by a sudden, piercing agony.

"ARGGGGHHHH! IT HURTS!" He screamed, the sound reverberating off the walls and even onto the street. But no one dared to check.

Looking down, horror filled his eyes as a long sword poked out through where his heart was and extended out from his back.

'What? Why? Who? When?'

Several questions quickly ran through his mind before everything became dark.

As the employee's life faded, his eyes were still wide in pain and confusion. Even in death, he did not know who had killed him.

Soon, his body slumped forward and fell head-first onto the concrete ground with an eerie sound. Scarlet blood pooled beneath his dead body, and the quiet of the alleyway returned.

Following that, a sudden change occurred, the sword still lodged into the employee's back transformed into a Nine-Tailed Fox soaked in his blood.

Nyx looked at itself and frowned in disgust.

"A filth's blood on me. How utterly disgusting." Then, with a shake of its body, it rid itself of the blood, bringing its metallic fur to pristine quality.

Only then did Nyx turn to Pei Buhan, who had been freed from the Quicksand Pit the moment the employee died. Stay tuned to My Virtual Library Empire

"You've done well." Nyx nodded.

Pei Buhan bowed.

"I am merely fulfilling the orders of my genius Master."

Even now, Pei Buhan was in awe of his Master. It seemed obvious a notorious gang like the Black Fire Bandits would have spies everywhere, but to expect even the former Warring Sharks bandit gang to have spies was a stroke of genius. If not for his Master, their plan would have been foiled.

—------------------

It was just as Pei Buhan said, as a few minutes prior, while they were still in the hotel, Lucian whispered in his ear, "After we leave the hotel, follow Lily and I. When I give you the signal, break away from us and follow Nyx, the kitten. Listen to its words as if I am the one speaking. Do you understand?"

Pei Buhan nodded with a confused expression.

"Master, what is it that I have to do?"

"Nothing much. I feel Nai Yulan might have sent his men to watch our movements. I might just be paranoid sending you and Nyx, but it's best to be safe."

Pei Buhan's confusion cleared at those words.

"I understand Master!" He bowed.

—------------------

Back to the present.

All of a sudden, Nyx's eyes sharpened, "Remember, never mention what that filth said about Lily to Lucian. Even by accident. If you do, don't blame me for ending your life short."

Hearing this, Pei Buhan hesitated. He was torn between the order his Master gave of listening to Nyx and the consequences of deceiving his Master.

"You won't be able to bear the consequences should Lucian find out what those two said and wanted to do," Nyx said after seeing his hesitation. "Just listen to me. Stop overthinking."

Pei Buhan nodded after sighing, "Very well. I will listen to you."

"Good." Nyx nodded and strode over to the dead thug. It glanced at his fingers, causing its eyes to light up.

'A Spatial Ring! Hopefully, he had something good in there.'

Without shame, Nyx removed the Spatial Ring from the dead man's finger and stored it in the Inventory. As the System Spirit, it had access to many of the System Features. But just like its Host, it was also limited by many rules. One such rule was that it was not allowed to store any items that did not belong to it. It was a vague rule that was created upon its Host's entry into Chaos Haven World. As weird and limiting as it was, there was a loophole. As evidenced by the fact that the Spatial Ring was successfully stored in the Inventory. Items could be stored in the Inventory as long as the item was earned. For example, since the Spatial Ring was obtained after it killed the employee, the Spatial Ring counted as an item earned.

Nyx then continued, "Let's go. We still have that young man to stop from reaching the trade location."

After saying that, Nyx transformed back into a blue robotic ant.

It was the same 'weird blue ant' that the employee had seen on his shoe but disregarded it as a new species of ant. And it was that same disregard, which had caused his undoing. Killing him was as simple as crawling up his leg and positioning itself in front of his heart. Once there, Nyx had imagined the sword the Alabaster city guards wielded and used its Transformation Skill. What happened after was obvious.

"Carry me," Nyx ordered him.

Pei Buhan respectfully held out both hands, allowing Nyx to crawl up his finger and onto his palm. Then, he left the alley, and followed the street the young man took, leaving the employee's dead body to rot.

Meanwhile, Lucian and Lily were walking side by side on a heavily populated street.

"Big Brother Lucian, why are people not sleeping?" Lily asked with furrowed brows.

Lucian smiled.

"We aren't sleeping either, are we? Mages barely need sleep. What's more, the stronger you become, the less you need to sleep."

Lily blinked and after pondering for a moment, she nodded.

[Uncle Fen once told Lily something like that! Lily had experienced it herself.] She then turned to her Big Brother Lucian with sparkly eyes. [Big Brother Lucian, did you need to sleep in your other lives? After all, you were super strong.]

[The me from Earth wasn't a Mage, so he had to sleep every day. In fact, he not only slept at night but even took many naps throughout the day. He was a lazy bum.]

After saying that, Lucian felt embarrassed calling Chef Lucian a lazy bum to Lily since he was essentially calling himself that. Even worse, his embarrassment only increased further when he heard a burst of giggles beside him.

After giggling, Lily tilted her head.

[Did Chef Lucian not like to work?]

Ever since Lily learned of her Big Brother Lucian's secret, she wanted to know everything about the other three Souls. Her logic was simple, if she learned about them, then she would be even closer to her Big Brother Lucian.

Lucian was in the process of shaking his head before pausing, [It wasn't that he didn't like working. He loved his job as a chef. Cooking was his passion, but he had other passions he loved just as much. Sleeping was one of them.]

[Hehe~!] Lily giggled when she saw the blush on her Big Brother Lucian's face. [And what about the other two Souls? Did they need sleep?]

[No. They didn't need sleep.] Lucian shook his head. His expression then turned serious. [Every Mage belonging to the Mortal Great Realm still has physical limitations — hunger, sleep, aging, etcetera. But once a Mana God Realm reaches the Peak Tier and transforms their understanding of their Element into a Law, a Universal Tribulation will descend. If they pass the Universal Tribulation, they will shed their Mortality. But that doesn't mean they'll be truly Immortal. They'll still have a life span, but the need for food and sleep will be gone.]

[How long can an Immortal live for?] Lily asked.

Lucian smiled at Lily's boundless curiosity. He was more than happy to indulge her curiosity, but there were some things that she was too weak to know. Knowledge came with a price. And that price was too much for Lily to bear. Thus, he chose his words carefully.

[The life span of even a Human Immortal is so long that they might as well be Immortal.]

Lily sighed in awe.

[And what about Ancestral God Lucian? Do Gods live forever?]

Lucian nodded.

[Just like Dao Immortal Lucian, Ancestral God Lucian didn't need to sleep or eat, either. What's more, upon ascending to Godhood, the last limitation — a finite life span — disappears.]

[So, Ancestral God Lucian had eternal life? How amazing! Lily also wants to live forever!] Lily exclaimed in pure excitement.

Hearing this, Lucian slightly shook his head.

[Only those who experienced eternal life would understand its true weight.]

Lily suddenly stopped walking and looked up at her Big Brother Lucian in confusion, [What do you mean, Big Brother Lucian? What weight? Isn't living forever… absolutely wonderful?]
