Chapter 240: Impromptu Date
Lucian could not help but smirk, feeling slightly giddy and nervous himself. After all, an impromptu capture mission disguised as a date was still a date.
"I guess that makes me underdressed for our date." Lucian frowned as he looked at his casual t-shirt and jeans. "One moment."
With that, he entered the room and came out shortly after, looking completely different from before he entered the room.
"What do you think? Am I handsome?" Lucian asked Lily.
"Handsome," Lily said after hastily looking him up and down. The appearance of the young man before her was someone she was quite familiar with.
It was the appearance her Big Brother Lucian used while in Arcadia. But rather than his usual Chef's Uniform, he wore a red suit and matching red pants. [But, you're still not as handsome as the Lucian I saw in Grandpa Max's Dimension!]
[Of course, my real appearance can't be topped.]
Lucian shrugged as if her assessment was only natural.
[I'm one of a kind.]
He then looked up at the ceiling and loudly sighed, as if the weight of being handsome was too much for him to bear.
[A one-of-a-kind narcissist.] Lily rolled her eyes at his shameless display.
It was at that moment Nyx's voice resounded in their heads, [You two, stop flirting and set out for the mission.]
[We wer-] Lily wanted to deny Nyx's claim but stopped. Blushing, she turned her head away.
On the other hand, Lucian's thick skin was as impenetrable as always, "Let's not delay any longer. The quicker Nai Yulan becomes my servant, the faster the Black Fire Bandits become my army to do as I see fit with."
"But first, let me change back to my previous appearance." With that, he entered the room, leaving everyone, except for Pei Buhan, confused.
When he exited the room, Lily opened her mouth, "Big Brother Lucian, why did you change back? Lily prefers handsome Big Brother Lucian!"
"I'll explain on the way."
After that, Lucian, Lily, and the rest left the hotel and split into two groups. One group consisted of Lucian, Lily, Nyx, and Pei Buhan, who turned left after exiting the hotel and soon entered a narrow alley.
On the other hand, Bai Shishi, Lucius, and Luke headed straight toward the location where the trade would take place.
Meanwhile, a short while after they left the hotel, an employee of Alabaster Hotel walked out with one hand behind his back while his other held a cigarette between two fingers.
The sound of footsteps soon came from a nearby store, and following that, a young man walked over to stand beside him with a lighter and a cigarette of his own.
"Want me to light it for you?" The young man offered the employee as his eyes shifted left and right.
'A few bugs, a rat, and a bird.' He mused.
The employee did not immediately reply. He first glanced at the young man's scarred face. Only then, he offered a nod of agreement. "Sure."
With a flick of his thumb, a small flame burst out of the lighter.
Soon, both cigarettes were lit and smoke curled up from them.
"It's rare for Alabaster City to be this quiet." The employee whispered in a tone as though he was speaking to himself.
But, he was still given a response, "It ain't that rare. It's about to be midnight. They're sleeping."
"Makes sense." After a moment, the employee took a long drag of his cigarette and muttered, "Seven of them left just now. The Ember Lions Pride, an old man, a young man, a young girl, and a kitten. Seven in total. They split into two groups. One group entered an alley, while the other went down Tangyong Street, straight to the Boss's location."
"A young girl? Which hole did she crawl out from? Can't you do your damn job properly?" The young man was puzzled and slightly irritated.
The employee had been keeping track of anyone who entered and exited their suite.
On the other hand, the young man kept tabs on everyone who went in and out of the Alabaster Hotel. However, his job was more precarious. He was only at the Low-Tier Blood Tempering Realm because of that, he could not use his Mana Sense. After all, anyone stronger than him would notice the Mana Sense surrounding them. Tracking it back to him would also be just as easy. Therefore, sometimes, he had to hide, which allowed people to slip by.
The job was damn tiring, with no breaks in between.
Ever since Ember Lions Pride wanted to make a deal with their Boss, he had no choice but to come here and snoop around like a rat.
It was absolutely degrading to hide in a smelly, rodent-infested alley.
"Calm down." The employee patted the young man's shoulder. "She's just a young girl who hasn't even condensed Mana. She's of no threat to us."
"However…" All of a sudden, he lewdly chuckled as the image of the pink-haired, pink-eyed beauty appeared in his mind. "That young girl is the bane of all men."
He then went on to explain her appearance to the young man, whose eyes widened with every detail he mentioned. Soon, drool escaped his lips.
After licking his lips and swallowing hard, the young man lewdly said, "I can't wait to enjoy the feast."
"After the Boss savors the dish, it won't be too late to enjoy the soup." The employee added.

"Speaking of the Boss, is he confident the Ember Lions Pride are up to something?" The young man asked with a furrow of his brows.
"How would I know? It's best if they're just trying to trade, but if they're like the others who are trying to take us down, their end will be the same as the rest." The employee shrugged his shoulders as his mind quickly returned to the young girl he saw. "But, I'm hoping the Boss is right this time. If they attack us, heh heh."
A similar lewd chuckle escaped the young man's lips. He then took a long drag of his cigarette, before throwing it away into a nearby bush.
"I'm leaving. Boss is still waiting for the news."
The employee did not keep him any longer.
"Don't forget about treating this brother to the feast."
"I won't. Wait for the good news." The young man waved his hand as he walked away into the dimly lit street.
Meanwhile, as soon as the young man could no longer be seen, a faint sigh filled with exasperation rang in the quiet alley.
Upon hearing this, the employee shuddered, causing the cigarette to fall out of his hands. But he did not care about it. He glanced around the alley, but just like when he had first entered the alley, there were only bugs, a rat, and a bird perched atop the building.
Left with no other choice, the employee yelled. "Who's there!?"
His voice echoed off the walls for a few seconds, but no response came back.
"Damn it! I asked, who's there? If you have the guts show yourself!" As he demanded, he released his Mana Sense. But unfortunately, he was too weak to cover the entire alleyway. He could only cover ten feet around him.
Even so, with his enhanced senses, he saw a few more bugs and rodents. There was even a weird blue ant on his shoe.
'I have to find the bastard who sighed. They must have heard what we said. Even though we didn't spill any secrets, Boss won't like it if he finds out we let a mole listen in on our conversation.'
It was then, a set of footsteps resounded from the other end of the alley. With each step, the owner got closer to him.
"Finally, you showed yourself Damn, mysterious bastard. How dare you sneak around and listen in on our conversation? Don't you know you shouldn't mess with the Black Fire Bandits?"
Soon, a low and angry voice responded. "So what if you're part of the Black Fire Bandits? You messed with someone you should never have."
After the last word was spoken, an old man in a black suit and black pants walked out into the light of a flickering lamp.
The old man was none other than Pei Buhan.
"You dare have filthy thoughts about Mistress Lily?" Pei Buhan questioned the employee as he conjured a ball of fire and casually threw it at him.
It was not a Skill. It was simply his Fire Element.
Seeing his arrogant display, the employee frowned in anger, but then he let out a low chuckle.
"I can't believe I was scared of another Mana Condensation Realm Mage." He shook his head when he sensed the old man's aura, which was similar to his own.
'Dancing Willow.'
He swiftly used a Movement Skill, dodging the Fire Element ball with ease, and followed it up by conjuring a pit of quicksand under the old man's feet.
Not expecting the employee would have a rare Quicksand Element, Pei Buhan was caught off guard.
"Damn, I was careless." Pei Buhan's face paled as he struggled, but his feet continued to sink deeper into the quicksand. "Sorry, Master. I failed you!"
"How do you like my Quicksand Pit?" The employee asked with a sneer when he saw Pei Buhan's panicking expression. By now, his body had been swallowed up to his knees.
"Pathetic." The employee mocked and placed his arms behind his back. Slowly, he walked towards Pei Buhan. His sneer grew with each step he took toward him.
