Chapter 242: Pull Back

After saying this, she resumed her steps, quickly catching up to her Big Brother Lucian. [Lily would have all the time in the world to do anything she wanted!]

In response, Lucian let out a long sigh.

[You're right, Lily, you would have all the time in the world to do whatever you wanted. But it's not as simple as that. Eternal life isn't just about endless time. Watching everything around you change while you stay the same. Friends, family… even entire worlds come and go… while you continue on.] He paused for a moment, as the memories of solitude went past in his mind. It was a mere brief moment, but it was more than enough to clench his heart. [You become a witness to countless stories… and even star in many, but even those stories will be forgotten. Soon, you'll be desensitized… nothing will matter.]

Hearing this, Lily's eyes widened in pure disbelief before tears welled in her eyes. As soon as they appeared, they slid down her beautiful face.

Lily's heart clenched tighter.

[Big Brother Lucian!] While crying, Lily disregarded the people on the street and jumped into her Big Brother Lucian's arms. [Lily's sorry!]

The passersby were confused, but most of them shrugged with indifference and continued walking. But, some with big noses, smelled the gossip in the air. They stuck around.

Ignoring the rapidly growing crowd, Lucian stared at the pink-haired young girl in his arms. Hot tears streamed down her face and wet his shirt. But he did not care. What was a shirt compared to his Lily? Her slim body was shaking in his arms, and her hands were tightly wrapped around his waist.

"Hey, scum, what did you do to make that beautiful young girl cry?"

"Don't you have any shame?"

"If I had a girlfriend as beautiful as her, I would only make her cry tears of joy!"

"Heh. Heh. I'd make her cry in bed every day!"

After a few seconds, annoyance flickered in Lucian's eyes. Picking Lily up in a princess carry, Lucian shoved his way out of the crowd.

"Get lost. Don't you all have something better to do than stand around here and gossip?"

The crowd did not take his insult lightly.

"Damn, bastard! First you made the beauty cry, and now you're shouting at us? Who do you think you are?"

Ignoring them, Lucian carried Lily across the street, leaving the crowd behind.

It was then, as he carried Lily away, a familiar mechanical voice rang in his mind, [Host, you were right. Nai Yulan is onto us. I don't know how much they know or if they know what we're planning to do. But I suggest to quickly tell Bai Shishi and the other two to pull back before they are killed.]

[I don't have time to care about their lives. Lily's crying.] Lucian replied angrily. [You tell them.]

[...] Nyx was more than a little speechless. 'Why is he mad at me? He's the one who made Lily cry.'

But instead of continuing to poke the hornet's nest, Nyx wisely remained silent.

'It's a good thing that I have that bandit boss's contact number. Hopefully, he isn't dead.'

Meanwhile, after many minutes of walking, Bai Shishi, followed by Lucius and Luke finally saw the alley the trade would go down in.

But they knew it would not be a trade. The trade was all a rouse to get Warring Sharks in one place.

In front of the entrance, in broad daylight, there were two figures who looked no different from thugs.

Bai Shishi did not consider himself an expert at knowing all the gangs in the surrounding region, since there were just too many. But when it came to the Warring Sharks, he knew them decently well, so he quickly identified the man and woman.

Sai Ku and Sai Kwa.

The last time he saw the married couple, they were both in the Mid-Tier Blood Tempering Realm. As for what their Mage Rank was now, he was unsure.

It was unfortunate, but he did not dare release his Mana Sense to investigate them.

Bai Shishi stopped, turned his head around, and warned his sons, [Remember the plan. Master needs Nai Yulan and his men unconscious. Don't cripple them, or our lives will be gone.]

Lucius nodded.

[We understand, father.]

[You don't have to remind me, old man.] Luke shrugged with an annoyed expression. [Let's just get this over with. Master is waiting.]

At his words, Bai Shishi's expression darkened, but it was covered by the darkness of the night.

Without saying a word, he walked to the alley, quickly followed by Lucius and Luke.

It was at that moment that Sai Ku and Sai Kwa noticed them.

"Bai Shishi. I still can't believe you're back to full health. News had it that you were barely clinging to life, yet here you are. Was the news exaggerated, or did you just not die like everyone hoped? Sai Ku asked with a chuckle.

Bai Shishi also chuckled.

"I was injured, but not as badly as what the news made it out to be."

"People like to gossip." From beside Sai Ku, Sai Kwa suddenly said.

"What's new?" Bai Shishi shrugged indifferently and then changed the subject to why he was here. "Is Nai Yulan already here for the trade?"

Sai Ku nodded and gestured with his chin to the alley.

"He's in there. Go on."

With a nod, Bai Shishi and the two others entered the alley.

But what they did not know, was as soon as they entered, malicious grins formed on Sai Ku and Sai Kwa's faces.

Meanwhile, the three servants continued down the alley, without worry. It was as if they were going to the nearest supermarket for a gallon of milk.

All of a sudden, a faint mental ring startled Bai Shishi. His neutral expression gave way to confusion. He looked around his surroundings. After he saw nothing but garbage littered around and disheveled rats scurrying about from garbage to garbage in search of food, he hastily took out his Long Distance Communication Device. Immediately, a small spherical object appeared on his palm.

After channeling his Mana into the device, a mechanical voice came from the other end into his mind, [Is this Bai Shishi?]

Bai Shishi questioned. [Who the Hell is this? And how did you get my number?]

Not many knew his Communication Device number. The number of people who knew could be counted on two hands. And they were all people he knew and trusted.

Following a sigh, Bai Shishi heard, [I'm the kitten, who was in your Mistress Lily's arms.]

The answer made Bai Shishi even more confused. Read latest chapters at My Virtual Library Empire

Seeing the confused expression on his father's face, Lucius worriedly asked, [Father, what's wrong?]

[It's nothing.] Bai Shishi turned to him and said weirdly. [Just stay still… the both of you.]

Though they were confused, they obeyed.

[You're the kitten? How can you prove it?] Bai Shishi finally answered the voice, claiming to be the kitten who was previously held by his Master and Mistress Lily.

[You don't have the time to be asking me questions. If you and your sons don't want to die, then come back to the Alabaster Hotel. The trade is most likely a trap set by Nai Yulan.]

Frowning, worry-filled Bai Shishi's expression. He looked at his surroundings for an escape route but saw nothing but high walls on both sides. It was not impossible to climb the walls and escape, but it would not be as simple as jumping. The buildings on both sides were four stories high, with no footholds to allow them to climb. They would have to pierce the sold bricks with swords to create footholds for their escape. But doing so would create noise, alerting Nai Yulan and his gang.

But it was not all doom and gloom, they could fight their way out. The two bandits guarding the entrance were weak. Just him alone could kill them.

However, as if understanding his thought process, all of a sudden, Nyx sternly warned, [If you dare fight your way out, make sure you never appear in front of my Host, Lucian.]

Bai Shishi sighed at the words laced with obvious threat, but he did not show anger. His expression was soon replaced with resignation.

[But we can't leave. We're already here.] That was the issue they now faced.

Nyx did not reply and since it did not speak, Bai Shishi remained silent.

The silence lasted for a few seconds before it was finally broken by Nyx, [Go through with the trade and then leave. That's your only hope of survival. Do you have the Novice-Grade High-Quality Twin Fang Dagger, or did you lie about that?]

[I do have the Artifact in my Spatial Ring. I acquired it fro-]

Nyx interrupted his useless explanation. [I don't care about the Artifact's origin. If you have the dagger, that's good. Trade it for Nai Yulan's Novice-Grade High-Quality Amber Wind Sword. If you three survive, we can proceed with the plan a different way. Also, keep your son, Luke, in check. He better not ruin my Host's plan.]

[I understand.] Bai Shishi subconsciously nodded. [I will make sure he doesn't affect Master's plans.]

[Good. I hope you can live up to those words.]

After saying that, the Long Distance Communication Device turned off.

Bai Shishi stored it in his Spatial Ring. His expression then turned serious as he turned to his youngest son, Luke.

Luke frowned.

"What is it?"

'Why the Hell is Father serious all of a sudden? Who called him?' He wondered, slightly concerned.
