Pokemon: My Fate System Is Too Overpowered!!

Chapter 5: Chapter 4: Red Destiny—Elite-Grade Froakie (4)

"Ryuu, go on and choose your starter Pokémon!"

Aoi's bright smile was like the morning sun, her beauty effortlessly drawing the eyes of every nearby student.

The male students watching? Utterly dazed.

---

"Alright, let's head out."

Ryuu naturally wouldn't refuse the invitation of the school idol.

The two of them walked out together—side by side, a picture-perfect pair.

But Ryuu's focus wasn't on Aoi.

Instead, his eyes scanned the crowd, searching for anyone lucky enough to receive a high-quality Pokémon.

Everyone here had access to starter Pokémon, meaning their destinies wouldn't be terrible.

At a glance, Ryuu saw that most students had Green Fate Lines, while a handful had Blue.

Blue meant Gym-level potential, which was decent—but not enough to impress him.

He was hoping to find Purple, Red, or even Gold.

But after scanning the crowd, he was starting to lose hope.

It was no wonder Elite Trainers were so rare. Even Quasi-Elite Trainers were considered national treasures.

This world simply hadn't developed as much as the true Pokémon world.

Training methods were still primitive, and most power came from raw resources, rather than advanced breeding or battle techniques.

Then—

A Red Fate Line caught his eye.

His pulse quickened.

This was the first time he had seen a Red Destiny!

Equivalent to Elite-level potential, or a high-grade treasure.

His gaze followed the thread, curious to see who the lucky one was.

And when he saw the answer—

Watanabe Shun.

---

Ryuu's eyes narrowed.

Shun was from Class 2, next door to his own.

He came from a decent family, but nothing close to Ryuu's level.

Still, because of his family's minor wealth, he had spent years pursuing Aoi, convinced that money alone would win her over.

In reality?

His family's wealth was laughable compared to the Fujiwara and Shindou families.

Yet he had zero self-awareness, always acting like he was some young master.

And now?

Now this nobody had Red Destiny?!

If not for his mediocre looks, Ryuu might have mistaken him for a hidden protagonist.

Ryuu immediately opened his fate thread.

---

[Name: Watanabe Shun]

[Red Destiny: You will encounter an Elite-grade Froakie at the school pond.]

---

Froakie.

Ryuu's heart skipped a beat.

One of his all-time favorite Pokémon.

And this one? An Elite-grade talent.

With proper investment, it could definitely reach Elite level—and maybe even higher.

There was no way in hell he was letting Shun have it.

That Froakie belonged to him now.

---

At that moment, Shun finally noticed Ryuu and Aoi.

The sight of them together made his blood boil.

His anger bubbled over, and he strode forward, his expression twisted in annoyance.

"So, Fujiwara Ryuu… what Pokémon are you planning to pick?" Shun sneered.

His tone was mocking, but his eyes were calculating.

Ryuu immediately saw through his game.

He was trying to counter-pick.

Shun probably assumed Ryuu would choose Torchic, so he had his sights on Froakie, knowing it had a type advantage.

Unfortunately for him—

Ryuu wasn't falling for it.

He smiled lazily. "Oh, me? I'm thinking of choosing Bulbasaur. Seems like a solid pick."

Shun's eyes flickered, clearly trying to process the information.

After a moment, he smirked.

"Well, I hope you get something good, then," Shun said, turning away with his usual smug arrogance.

His lackeys flocked around him, showering him in fake praise.

"Boss, wait up!"

Suddenly, a student rushed out of the classroom, sprinting after Shun.

And when Ryuu saw him—

His entire focus shifted.

Because the thread above his head was Purple.

---

A Purple Fate Line.

The first one Ryuu had encountered so far.

This was second only to Red Destiny.

"Interesting…"

Ryuu's mind worked quickly.

Aoi's fate was Blue—Gym-level.

Shun's fate was Red—Elite-level Froakie.

And now, this new guy had Purple Destiny.

Ryuu opened the thread immediately.

---

[Name: Ma Hiroto]

[Purple Destiny: In the southeast corner of the school, you will encounter a Quasi-Elite-grade Charmander.]

---

Charmander.

Ryuu's eyes gleamed.

Charmander was a strong Pokémon, no doubt about it.

With Mega Evolution, it had the potential to become an absolute powerhouse.

Mega Charizard X and Y were both monsters in battle.

If it weren't for Froakie being Elite-grade, he might have chosen Charmander for himself.

But since Froakie was already his target…

Charmander would be Aoi's.

---

Without hesitation, Ryuu grabbed Aoi's hand and took off running.

Aoi's face instantly turned pink.

H-holding hands?!

Her heart raced wildly.

What did this mean?

Was Ryuu finally confessing to her?!

Was he about to say something romantic?

Maybe this was the moment she had been waiting for!

But then—

"Aoi," Ryuu said in a low voice, his tone urgent. "There's a Quasi-Elite-grade Charmander in the southeast corner of the school. Go there now and claim it before someone else does."

Aoi: "…"

…So that was it.

For a split second, she had hoped for something else—but then warmth filled her heart again.

Because this meant Ryuu cared about her.

A Quasi-Elite-grade starter was a huge deal.

And the fact that he wanted her to have it…

Maybe he wasn't confessing just yet.

But this was proof that she meant a lot to him.

Maybe—just maybe—she should start thinking of ways to repay him…

…Like offering herself?

Aoi's face turned scarlet at the thought.

---

"Don't space out!" Ryuu snapped, flicking her forehead lightly.

Aoi snapped out of it.

"Right! I'll go now!"

With that, she turned and ran off, determined to claim Charmander before anyone else did.

Ryuu watched her go, nodding in satisfaction.

One high-quality starter secured.

Now—

Time to take that Froakie.
