Pokemon: My Fate System Is Too Overpowered!!

Chapter 3: Chapter 2: The System Awakens—The Fate System (2)

"Ryuu, you're finally here!"

A bright, melodious voice called out from a distance.

Ryuu instantly recognized that familiar tone before even turning around.

It was Shindou Aoi.

The undisputed school idol of Saffron Academy.

At 170 cm tall, she had long, slender legs, the kind that were perfectly balanced—not too thin, not too thick. Her curves were just right, standing out even among the female teachers.

Combined with her warm and friendly personality, she was considered the perfect girl. The dream of nearly every male student in school.

And Ryuu?

His relationship with Aoi was unmatched.

Their families had been close allies for generations, with their grandfathers being old friends.

This naturally led to Ryuu and Aoi growing up together. They had been childhood friends since they could barely walk.

Even back when they were toddlers running around in diapers, they had been inseparable.

Having traveled to this world so many years ago, Ryuu had literally watched Aoi grow up. Logically speaking, that meant he should take responsibility for her, right?

"Ryuu, let's head back to class together."

Aoi's bright blue eyes sparkled with an unspoken emotion as she looked at him.

She didn't know when it had started, but somewhere along the way, her feelings had changed.

Perhaps it was because Ryuu had always been so sharp-minded as a child, constantly saying things that made her laugh.

Or maybe, it was because he had always been by her side, sharing every school day with her.

Whatever the reason, she had fallen for him before she even realized it.

"Sure, let's go together."

Ryuu naturally accepted her invitation.

Growing up together, knowing how beautiful and popular Aoi was—it would be a lie to say he had no thoughts about her.

"Ryuu and Aoi are together again."

"They're basically a match made in heaven!"

The surrounding students started whispering among themselves.

Both guys and girls were filled with envy.

The boys envied Ryuu—not only for being able to spend time with Aoi, but also for his ridiculously good looks.

The girls envied Aoi—because Ryuu was just as handsome and charming, making them wish they were in her place.

But not everyone was happy about it.

Among the crowd, a short and average-looking guy clenched his fists, glaring at Ryuu with gritted teeth.

Several guys stood behind him, showering him with flattery.

No need to guess—this was your typical rich-kid villain with his gang of lackeys.

"Boss, why does that bastard Ryuu get to be with Aoi?"

"Yeah! Aoi should be yours! Who does he think he is?"

A large group of guys were hyping up their so-called leader.

His name? Watanabe Shun.

And right now, his already unattractive face was twisting with jealousy.

It wasn't even a competition.

Ryuu had him completely outclassed in looks, talent, and family background.

Sure, Shun's family had some money—enough to afford a starter Pokémon from Professor Oak's lab—but it had nearly drained their finances.

Meanwhile, Ryuu came from an Elite Trainer family, one tied to a major Gym in Saffron City.

Not only did his father command top-tier Electric Pokémon, but his grandfather was an Elite Four member.

On top of that, his mother, grandmother, and even his extended family all ran businesses.

Even if Ryuu kept a low profile, Shun was nowhere near his level.

He knew it.

And that made it even harder to accept.

Saffron Academy – The Classroom

Inside the classroom, the homeroom teacher of Class 3-A, stood at the podium, his expression serious.

Today was the day students received their first Pokémon.

And in this world, luck played a major role.

Getting a strong starter meant a better future as a Trainer.

The more successful the students, the better the teacher's reputation—and, of course, their bonuses.

"Alright, everyone, today is the day you receive your Pokémon! Excited, aren't you?"

"YES, TEACHER!"

"We've been waiting for this day forever!"

"Teacher, stop wasting time! Just let us pick already!"

"I swear, I'm getting something strong today!"

The classroom erupted into cheers.

In this world, the laws were strict.

To prevent kids from misusing Pokémon, they were forbidden from owning one before reaching a certain age.

Even if a child had a Pokémon at home, it legally belonged to their parents—not them.

But today?

Today was different.

The Pokémon they received would be truly theirs.

Even Ryuu, despite being a Transmigrator felt a tinge of excitement.

"Alright, let's begin! The first batch of students, come forward!"

With a wave of the teacher's hand, the first group of students rushed out excitedly.

These were the ones who couldn't afford to buy Pokémon but had strong academic performance.

To give them a chance, the Pokémon League provided them with decent starter Pokémon.

Meanwhile, students who had poor grades and came from poor families had far fewer options.

For these students, their only hope was to get lucky and catch a Pokémon in the wild.

However, this first batch of students still made up the majority of the class.

Only a small fraction of students could afford to purchase better Pokémon—like the traditional starters from Professor Oak or even stronger species.

As the first batch left, discussing their potential picks, the rest of the classroom grew silent.

Only a handful of students remained.

These were the ones who could afford top-tier starters.

Some, like Ryuu, even had the option to receive pseudo-Legendary Pokémon from their families.

With his background, he easily could've arranged for a Dratini, Bagon, or Larvitar.

But Ryuu never asked for one.

Because he knew—if his system awakened, he wouldn't need it.

Why settle for a pseudo-Legendary when he could aim for a Legendary?

Of course, that was just his fantasy—for now.

But if his system truly activated, that dream might become reality.

"Ryuu, have you decided yet?"

Aoi leaned forward, resting her chin on her hands.

Her curious gaze was undeniably adorable, drawing the attention of several guys nearby.

Some looked jealous, while others were completely mesmerized.

The girls? They were furious with envy.

Ryuu shrugged. "I'll decide when I see the options."

Truthfully?

Even he didn't know what to pick yet.

If he ended up with a low-potential Pokémon, it wouldn't matter even if it was a traditional starter.

At that point, his only hope would be for the system to activate.

And then—
