Chapter 22: Chapter 23: Setting Sail, Preparing to Depart~!
The next day, on a mountain not far from the village of Elbaf.
Aruru and Yoruru stood in front of a grave, with Redding behind them, along with Roy, Heldin, and the children of the Lamb House who had come along.
Because the nun had died in a terrible state, they had found some of her clothes in the original Lamb House near Elbaf and placed them as her belongings in the grave, giving her a simple burial mound.
"Nun, in the end, Lingling has still betrayed your expectations and become someone as devilish as this," Aruru said solemnly in front of the grave.
"Ah..." Yoruru sighed helplessly.
Roy gently placed the flowers he was holding in front of the nun's grave, squeezed out a few tears, and silently walked to Redding's side while holding his sword.
Pandora, seeing this, became even more silent and obediently floated next to Roy.
Taking down Pandora? Nothing could be more satisfying than the death of a nun!
Soon, everyone dispersed, and Roy rubbed the heads of the children from the Lamb House.
"Alright, let's go home," Roy said.
He still had to teach these little troublemakers.
When the nun was alive, it was difficult to manage them.
Roy thought that he would have a headache for quite a while.
But little did he know, things were not as bad as he had expected.
Whether it was the intimidation of the sword he was holding or Pandora's threat of fire, after returning to the Lamb House, all the little demons stood quietly in front of him, waiting for his orders.
They weren't causing trouble at all—quite well-behaved.
"You lot, come with me at noon and learn how to cook," Roy said, pointing at a few of the girls. They quickly nodded in agreement.
"You lot, from today, you'll be in charge of cleaning the house and doing some odd jobs," Roy said, giving instructions like a boss to the shorter kids.
"Got it, we'll get it done!" the little ones quickly nodded.
"You lot, from now on, take turns chopping firewood," Roy instructed, pointing at the tallest kids.
They nodded eagerly.
Roy gave many orders and then left them to get to work.
He, holding his sword, leisurely wandered the corridors, stepping outside to check on the kids as they worked.
To his surprise, these little ones were really well-behaved now.
Perhaps Roy had been mistaken before—it wasn't that the kids feared him, but the nun's death had given them a huge shock.
After going through that, perhaps they had matured a little.
In this cruel world, even if kids didn't want to grow up, the harsh environment would force them to.
Roy sat under a tree, holding a book on famous swords, lost in thought for a moment.
Forget it, no need to dwell on those dark things.
He felt that in this life, as long as he could meet a few beautiful women and build a happy home with them, living a carefree and enjoyable life, he would be satisfied.
He didn't consider himself a noble person. Pursuing a few girls and traveling the world freely—he was content with that.
Becoming stronger was just for his own comfort, so that no one would dare trouble him.
As for saving the world or changing the miserable world? Roy didn't think he was a great person, nor did he want to do such exhausting things.
And as for the saying "With great power comes great responsibility," he felt it was only suitable for some special people.
For most people, it should be "With greater power comes greater responsibility," because having power without taking on the corresponding responsibility was akin to enjoying the benefits without working for it.
If you have no power or benefits and still do heroic deeds for free, that's just a personal choice.
Roy respected these heroes, but that didn't mean he would become someone who overdid it with selflessness.
So, Roy chose girls.
"Hey, you idiot, don't chop the tree at the door! That's for shade!" Roy yelled at the silly kid holding an axe, about to chop the tree.
"Ah, I get it now." The silly kid grinned and took the axe further away to find another tree.
"Running so far is exhausting."
"What did you say??? You want to fight?!" Roy glared at him.
"I didn't say anything!" the silly kid immediately shut up.
Roy then put his sword down.
After returning to Elbaf, Roy spent his days mostly training the kids, teaching them exercises, and practicing swordsmanship in the morning. Occasionally, he would have a one-sided sparring session with Heldin (known as a beating), and in the afternoons, he would study sailing knowledge and refresh his understanding of the world of pirates.
By evening, he would take Pandora and walk around the village, playing with little Rod, who was still a baby.
When Prince Loki's mother left the castle, he occasionally got a chance to play with the baby giant prince.
The only regret was that even as babies, giants were still quite big.
They were cute, but it was hard to tell who was carrying whom.
Days passed in such a dull and uneventful way.
A month went by in the blink of an eye.
Today, with the sun shining brightly and birds chirping, Roy's mood was as bright as the weather.
Master Redding had agreed to his request.
For the past month, Roy had been constantly nagging in Redding's ear.
He would mumble during meals, talk incessantly while walking, and act cute during sword practice.
He had used every skill he could: shamelessness, cuteness, chattiness, and being annoying.
In the end, Redding couldn't take it anymore and agreed to take Roy out of the village to travel around the world.
For giants, traveling was not difficult.
However, they didn't want the young Roy to venture out on his own into the world, especially among the wicked pirates who were ruthless and deceitful, capable of killing without hesitation.
Although Roy was highly talented, with terrifying defenses and a bit of strength, the giants felt he was still too young, too naïve, and too easily deceived in the world of pirates.
So, the giants who treated Roy like family, after discussing it with Redding, decided to form a pirate crew with Redding and some other giants who wanted to travel the seas. Together, they would take Roy along as a trainee crew member.
"Roy, are you really going to leave? We'll miss you so much," the kids from the Lamb House gathered around Roy at the door, each one looking at him with reluctant eyes.
"I'm just going out to see the world, and also to test if you can take care of yourselves."
"When I come back, I don't want to see a messy Lamb House!" Roy patted the kids on the head, comforting and instructing them like a little adult.
After a month, Roy was impressed by how much they had grown.
They had truly matured, and in just a month, they had gotten used to taking care of themselves.
This eased Roy's mind. After all, people are social animals, and he had developed some emotional attachment to the kids.
The kids' growth allowed Roy to feel at ease about leaving with Redding to travel the world.
In a way, he had already set up some bases around the world for the future when time travel would bring him to the seas and help him prepare for wooing some women.
