Chapter 21: Chapter 22: The Girl from 800 Years Ago — Kouzuki Toki!
Elbaf.
The pirate ship docked at the shore, and Roy sat on the ship's deck, watching the children who had just woken up in front of him.
"Why are we back here again?" The downcast prince asked, his mind still a little fuzzy.
"You all fainted, Linlin went berserk, and the two of us brought you back," Roy glanced at the giant before continuing to explain to the children.
"What about Linlin?" The downcast prince had a bad premonition in his heart, quickly looking around.
"We left her on the island we were on before," the giant replied. "She's a monster. For everyone's safety, you can't see her again."
"What about the nun?" The child from the long-armed tribe hurriedly looked around. There was no sign of the nun, aside from Linlin.
"She was..."
"She was killed!"
The first part was said by the giant, while the second part came from Roy. Roy quickly stopped the giant's words, changing "eaten" to "killed."
It was better to tell them that Linlin killed the nun than to say she had eaten her.
The truth is always hard to accept, and it's even more cruel than the "simple death."
Roy wanted to give Linlin one last gentle lie, not wanting these children to live the rest of their lives in the shadow of that horror.
Roy thought that if Long Bread were alive, he wouldn't have the courage to tell Linlin the truth.
"You're... lying!" The fish-man child looked horrified, shaking Roy's shoulder in disbelief.
Well, he still didn't shake him.
"..." Roy remained silent, just watching them.
Sometimes, silence is the best answer.
"The nun... was killed by Linlin, woo woo woo!" The girl with blue hair suddenly burst into tears, and then the fur tribe child couldn't hold back either, sobbing uncontrollably.
The cries echoed, turning the ship into a chaotic scene, like a kindergarten. The noise was overwhelming.
"Go ahead and cry, it might make you feel better." Roy gently comforted the blue-haired girl, holding her head tenderly.
"Waahhh!"
Several other girls nearby also broke into tears, becoming little crying figures, rushing toward Roy and clinging to him, their tears falling freely.
"..." Roy stayed silent. If he told them the truth, it wouldn't be as simple as just crying children.
Telling the truth could easily lead to several of them passing out in shock.
And they would likely live the rest of their lives haunted by it.
They were still just children.
"Let's go. We still have the old house." The giant spoke, looking at the children with compassion.
These children were all from the nun, Galmero, and they would be well taken care of in Elbaf.
"Okay." Roy nodded.
He looked at the children and suddenly thought of something.
Most of these children were about his age, but he couldn't stay in Elbaf forever. There would come a day when he'd have to leave.
Though the giants were willing to raise them, the giant's size was ultimately a problem. They couldn't always look after the children with the care they needed.
Before he left, Roy felt he had to train these kids!
Teach them to take care of themselves. It wasn't difficult, after all, the giants provided plenty of food and resources. The children just needed to learn some life skills.
"Um... Do you still need a hug? We have to go home now." Roy was surrounded by several sobbing girls, all clinging to him.
"Woo woo woo." The girls raised their heads in tears.
Roy looked for help at the giant, who could only smile bitterly and shake his head.
Actually, with these little girls, there was no real sensation from hugging them.
If anything, it was quite troublesome and gave him a headache.
"Home?!" The children blinked, wiping their tears and looking at Roy with confusion.
What home?
They had finally found a small home, but now it was shattered beyond recognition.
Half a day later.
At the old lambs' home.
Roy had returned earlier, cleaned the house they once shared, and then began comforting the children, watching them all fall asleep one by one.
"Sigh, I'm exhausted!" Roy wiped the sweat off his forehead as he watched the sleeping little ones. He walked into the hallway, then left the house and sat at the door.
At this moment, four giants sat on the open ground near the door.
The giant who had brought Roy back was explaining to the other three about everything Roy and the children had been through.
"Linlin, that demon!" Yoru looked grim, his fists clenched.
"Never tell the truth to anyone, got it? Let the kids grow up happily in Elbaf. That truth is too cruel." Aruru glared at the giant, warning him.
But when he saw Roy sitting at the door, he suddenly felt reassured. This kid was a natural-born warrior.
Not only was he talented, but he was also smarter and calmer than Linlin.
Redding, sitting beside Aruru, looked at Roy sitting at the door with a gentle gaze.
He was the only human disciple Redding had ever accepted. He was very proud of Roy for saving so many children.
"Roy, you can stay in Elbaf and live here," Redding said.
He then extended a pinky finger and gently rubbed Roy.
He actually wanted to pat his head, but Roy was too small.
But it was fine. Roy had such absurd defense that no matter how much he rubbed, he couldn't damage his disciple.
"Roy, you are a true warrior, a warrior of Elbaf!" Redding praised.
"That's right, Roy. Even in such a moment, you still had the courage to stop that monster."
"You are a warrior of our Elbaf village!"
Aruru looked at Roy with a satisfied expression. If there were any humans who could be acknowledged as an Elbaf warrior, that honor would go to Roy.
"Mm." Roy nodded.
Receiving the giants' recognition made him feel very happy, but...
He was wondering at what age he could leave the village and start his own adventure.
He was already six years old and had not lost to Linlin (neither of them could break each other's defense). Judging by strength, he could probably go out now.
But in terms of sailing knowledge and skills, he wasn't qualified yet.
For now, he was still learning navigation and brushing up on general maritime knowledge.
But in just a few years, he could master all of it. So... when should he set sail?
Ten years old?
That might feel a little disrespectful to other "sailors."
Eleven years old?
It would probably be seen as belittling "sailors," which would be too extreme!
Roy looked up at his master, Redding. A little light bulb of cleverness suddenly flashed in his mind.
He could persuade Master Redding to sail, and he could be a trainee crew member!
Meanwhile, on an island in the New World of the Grand Line.
Eight hundred years had passed, and the land from before had become unrecognizable.
The Kouzuki family had long disappeared from this world. They vanished eight hundred years ago, along with the blank hundred years, fading away without a trace.
A girl with long green hair stood dazedly on this land, familiar yet strange.
The sea breeze rustled the ornament in her hair, and the sound of the waves crashing echoed in her ears. The moonlight illuminated her delicate features.
"There's... nothing left?" Kouzuki Toki stood on the island, her gaze unfocused as she looked around.
She, Kouzuki Toki, had come to an era that wasn't hers, and the people from that time had long passed away, turning into smoke and drifting far away from her.
All the familiar people were gone, and this world, although close, felt so distant, filled with a sense of alienation.
For some reason, she had to flee from those who were chasing her 800 years ago. Similarly, she had to go to the future Wano Country for reasons of her own.
But when she used the Time-Time Fruit to travel through time, something went wrong.
While on her time journey, she was about to reach the intended time, but suddenly, she was struck by a strange force. A blinding light surged past her, disrupting her time travel and causing her to arrive in a time far earlier than expected.
"Why did this go wrong?" Kouzuki Toki frowned, walking along the streets of the small town. This had once been the Kouzuki family's base overseas, but now, it was filled with unfamiliar faces.
Kouzuki Toki listened to the laughter of children and their parents nearby, her brows lowering in sadness.
She had become all alone.
