Naruto: You Call This A Medical Ninja?

Chapter 531: Chapter 531: Choose to Live!

After hearing Reiki's words, Ogura Eiko was left speechless.

This guy's feelings—everything he had done from the moment they finished crafting the blaster to now—had all been for the same purpose as at the beginning: to treat her?

Why hadn't he said this outright earlier?

If Reiki had explained this clearly from the start, would they have avoided all this fighting?

But Ogura Eiko conveniently forgot that Reiki had indeed offered to treat her from the beginning. Her response back then? To fight him.

"I'll let you heal me," she said finally. "But don't harm them anymore."

Ogura Eiko took a deep breath, steeling herself.

"Alright," Reiki replied simply, and without hesitation, began the treatment.

This time, Ogura Eiko didn't resist, unlike before. Having learned from their previous encounter, the process was much smoother and quicker.

Soon, her body began to undergo noticeable changes. A sharp, fishy odor emanated as impurities were expelled from her body.

As a professional medical ninja, Reiki was unfazed by such smells and focused solely on the task at hand. As the minutes passed, Ogura Eiko's transformation became more pronounced.

Her distorted facial features returned to their original symmetry. The blemishes on her face vanished. Her obese frame slimmed and became shapely.

After over half an hour of effort, Reiki finally stood up and used Water Release: Water Bloom Technique to wash away the filth that had accumulated during the treatment. The result was striking. Ogura Eiko now appeared radiant, as though a hibiscus had emerged fresh from the water. Her demeanor carried an innocence and charm reminiscent of the girl-next-door.

"This is... the leader?!" the Okamoto brothers gasped. They had only ever known Ogura Eiko as she was before: unhealthy and severe. Now, the transformation was so astonishing they couldn't believe their eyes.

"Excuse me, who are you?" one of them muttered in disbelief.

"Alright, the treatment is complete," Reiki announced. "By the way, I've cleared all the harmful energy from your body."

He turned to address the group. "Next, anyone else who wants treatment should line up. If you'd rather not be treated or still wish to fight, stand aside. You can wait for me to finish treating others before we resume fighting—or not. Your choice."

The crowd hesitated for only a moment. Then:

Susususu...

Everyone scrambled to line up.

Fight? Fight again? No, no, that wasn't fighting—it was getting beaten to a pulp!

Reiki began treating them one by one, his mood improving as he gained valuable experience. From prior knowledge, he knew that natural, non-attribute energy stopped dropping after around the fourth treatment. Thus, he limited himself to treating each person three times.

This process, however, consumed an entire day. By the time he finished, the sky had darkened.

"Reiki, what are you planning to do with us now?" Ogura Eiko asked, her spirit fully restored after the day's events. She had watched as Reiki treated everyone and knew he wouldn't simply let them go, given their past actions.

"How to deal with you?" Reiki said, thinking aloud. "Same as with the people from the Seventh Station. You'll go to Konoha, where you'll live under their supervision and contribute to the ninja world. Of course, you have another choice—death."

His tone was firm. Offering them a choice was more mercy than they deserved for their association with the Evil God Cult. He could have simply killed them, but he preferred to see if their strength could be put to better use.

"So, do you choose to live or die?" Ogura Eiko turned to ask her comrades. There was no room for hesitation in such a decision. They were all adults and knew the weight of their past actions. Crying or resisting now wouldn't change anything.

"I don't want to die," one murmured. "Supervision is fine. At least I'll be alive."

"Me neither. I still have things I want to do."

"Same here..."

Soon, everyone had made their choice: to live, no matter what it entailed.

"Then go," Ogura Eiko said. "Follow Reiki's medical ninja and leave this place."

"I... choose to die," Ogura Eiko said abruptly, pulling a dagger from her waist and plunging it into her chest.

"Leader!" her comrades cried, rushing toward her in panic.

Ogura Eiko's face was pale, her blood slowly pooling beneath her. "There's no need to continue my life," she murmured. "I've been cast aside, and without my role as the leader of the Second Station, there's nothing left to anchor my soul. I'm ready to die."

As her body grew colder and her vision dimmed, a myriad of emotions swirled in her mind: fear, helplessness, regret... and relief.

"What are you doing?!" A voice startled her from her fading consciousness. It was Reiki.

Ogura Eiko weakly opened her eyes to see him treating her wounds.

"I'm a medical ninja," he said firmly. "Letting you die in front of me would be the greatest insult to my profession. So, live first. Die later if you must—after I've finished my work."

Within moments, the wound on her chest had been closed. Her breathing steadied, and warmth returned to her body.

"You'll come with me," Reiki said. "Convince the others who invaded my resting place to cooperate, and I'll treat them too. Afterward, someone from Konoha will come to escort you."

As Reiki turned to leave, Ogura Eiko's faint voice called out, "I... I want to... live."

"What?" Reiki stopped, feigning ignorance.

"I said..." she repeated weakly.

"Louder, please!" Reiki teased, leaning closer.

"I said I want to live!" she shouted with all her remaining strength.

"Then live," Reiki said with a warm smile. "Come along."

In a dark place far away, a man stared at two shattered jade tablets before him. His face was grim as he contemplated the implications.
