Chapter 379: Chapter 379: With Shinki's Support, What Does Uchiha Fugaku Have to Fear?

Uchiha Fugaku returned to the police department and convened a brief meeting with the clan members. Shortly after, an official announcement was posted in the department's main hall.

The announcement left many of the ninjas who had recently joined the police force confused.

What was the meaning of this notice?

"The Uchiha's law enforcement has issues, so they need to take leave for training? And the new recruits are expected to take over all security responsibilities for the foreseeable future? What kind of joke is this?"

The recruits were in disbelief. Handling the entire village's security with their limited manpower seemed impossible. They wondered what the Uchiha clan was up to.

Despite the doubts raised, the Uchiha members remained indifferent.

"If you have questions, read the announcement yourself," they said coolly.

As for whether the others could manage? "That's your problem. Starting tomorrow, we're officially on leave—no, we're 'studying.'"

Given that two-thirds of the police force were Uchiha, the announcement essentially left the remaining ninjas—many from the Sarutobi and Shimura clans—with an enormous workload. Even Fugaku himself, as the head of the department, declared he was going on "study leave."

The chaos reached the Hokage's office in no time.

The Third Hokage's Response

The Third Hokage's immediate reaction was one of disbelief.

"What nonsense is this? If the Uchiha all go on leave, how will the remaining few handle public security for the entire village?"

He called for Uchiha Fugaku but hesitated midway. The situation smelled of Shinki's influence.

Over the past weeks, tensions had been brewing between the Uchiha clan and the newly integrated ninjas from the Sarutobi and Shimura families. Uchiha Fugaku, despite his reputation for restraint, had maintained control until now. But with Shinki's recent return to the village, the timing of this "study leave" was suspicious.

Instead of summoning Fugaku, the Hokage decided to call for Shimura Danzo.

Confrontation with Shimura Danzo

When Danzo arrived, he was unaware of the announcement.

"The police department issued a new notice? About what?"

The Third Hokage's gaze hardened. "It's better you don't know. Danzo, pull back your men. I won't tolerate the police department descending into chaos because of your meddling. These actions could lead to your people being expelled from the department altogether."

Danzo scoffed. "Expelled? They wouldn't dare! Uchiha law enforcement has always been problematic. I'm merely correcting their flaws by guiding the recruits behind the scenes."

The Third Hokage cut him off sharply. "Yes, the Uchiha have had their issues, but now they've announced a leave for mandatory training. For the foreseeable future, your recruits will handle all public security matters. Do you understand what this means?"

Danzo was stunned. Uchiha Fugaku wasn't known for bold moves like this. Then it hit him—this wasn't Fugaku's doing. This was Shinki's work. With Shinki's support, Fugaku had the courage to challenge the Hokage's office indirectly.

Danzo clenched his fists. He knew Shinki's reputation for unconventional yet effective tactics.

"Damn it!" he muttered under his breath.

The Fallout

The decision quickly backfired on the Sarutobi and Shimura recruits. Overnight, they found themselves responsible for patrolling the entire village, responding to every security case, and mediating public disputes.

Initially, the recruits thought they could manage by taking a more lenient approach. Public disputes could be mediated; there was no need for Uchiha-style intimidation. But reality soon shattered their optimism.

Drunken brawls, property disputes, and street fights spiraled out of control. The troublemakers showed no respect for mediation efforts and often escalated the conflicts. Without the Uchiha's strict and fearsome reputation, lawbreakers grew emboldened.

The recruits were overwhelmed. "This is impossible!" they exclaimed in frustration.

To their dismay, they realized the importance of the Uchiha's no-nonsense approach to law enforcement. The Uchiha ninjas' ability to command respect—if not fear—had kept the village's troublemakers in check.

The Third Hokage's Warning

As Danzo left the Hokage's office, he was met with a final warning.

"Danzo," the Hokage said firmly, "do not mistake my leniency for weakness. While I've tolerated your antics, Shinki won't. If you continue to provoke the Uchiha, I won't step in to protect you from the consequences."

Danzo sneered but said nothing as he exited.

Chaos in the Village

Meanwhile, the Sarutobi and Shimura recruits struggled under the weight of their new responsibilities. They quickly realized that mediation alone wasn't enough to maintain order. Intimidation wasn't just a tactic; it was often necessary to ensure compliance.

For instance, drunken brawlers ignored their commands, escalating fights until the recruits were forced to intervene physically. Rogues who previously feared the Uchiha now took advantage of the recruits' inexperience.

By the end of the first week, the recruits were exhausted, frustrated, and thoroughly humiliated. The village, once peaceful under Uchiha control, was on the brink of chaos.

For the Uchiha, it was a well-deserved vacation. For the recruits, it was a harsh lesson in the realities of law enforcement.

Shinki's strategy was working—without lifting a finger, he had demonstrated the critical role the Uchiha played in maintaining peace.
