Chapter 373: Chapter 373: Nine-Tails: "I'm a Fox, Not Your Strategist!"

Throughout the night, no attackers managed to reach Shinki's residence. The puppets, stationed around the perimeter, efficiently eliminated any threats before they could approach. By midnight, the number of attempted assaults dwindled, as the attackers seemed to realize that targeting the residence was futile.

Shinki, unconcerned, slept soundly. The same could not be said for the others.

When morning came, Shinki opened his door to find Kushina standing there with dark circles under her eyes, clearly exhausted.

"You couldn't sleep?" Shinki asked, suppressing a laugh at her disheveled state.

Kushina puffed her cheeks, glaring at him. "What's so funny, huh? I was too startled to sleep! If this goes on for two more days, I'll go crazy!"

She flopped onto the sofa without any care for appearances, groaning. "The Mist Village is insane. Compared to this place, Konoha feels like a peaceful paradise. At least the Hokage isn't causing chaos like this!"

Despite her frustration, she had to admit that the Mist Village's constant internal strife was uniquely chaotic. Even Konoha's occasional political tensions paled in comparison.

Shinki's Plan

Shinki smirked at her outburst. "The more chaotic the Mist Village is, the better it is for you."

Kushina blinked, sitting upright. "What do you mean?"

Shinki retrieved a map and spread it out on the table. "Look here. These areas marked with red ripples are where the Mist Village warships frequently patrol. They rarely work together unless there's a war, so they're often isolated."

He pointed to the golden ripple areas. "These zones are where the Mist Village and Cloud Village have overlapping maritime interests. If the Mist Village grows weaker from infighting, it creates an opportunity for us to act."

Kushina's exhaustion vanished, replaced by eager curiosity. Shinki continued, "You can use Jin Ya—the sea serpent you've contracted—to launch surprise attacks on these warships. Jin Ya is powerful enough to handle most Mist Village ninjas, especially in isolated encounters. As long as you don't reveal yourself, no one will know it's you."

Kushina's eyes sparkled with excitement. "That's a brilliant idea! But…" Her expression faltered. "What if I'm discovered?"

Shinki gave her a knowing look. "You have the perfect advisor for that."

Enter the Nine-Tails

Kushina's eyes widened in realization. "You mean… the Nine-Tails?"

Shinki nodded. "The Nine-Tails has centuries of experience and knowledge. It's not just a beast—it's a survivor. Use it to your advantage."

The Nine-Tails, however, had other thoughts. Deep inside the sealed space, it sighed, dreading what was coming.

"Fox, I need your help!" Kushina called out cheerfully, placing her hands on her hips as she stood before the Nine-Tails.

The great fox closed its eyes, pretending to sleep. But Kushina wasn't one to give up easily. She kept calling out to it until, finally, the Nine-Tails snapped.

"Fine! Stop shouting! My head is about to explode!" it growled, waving its tail in irritation. "It's just a sneak attack plan. How hard can it be?"

Reluctantly, the Nine-Tails leaned forward, examining the chakra-formed map Kushina projected.

The Nine-Tails' Plan

"First," the Nine-Tails began, "send that sea serpent, Jin Ya, to attack Mist Village warships. Once they notice and strengthen their naval defenses, shift your attacks to Cloud Village merchant ships."

Kushina's eyes lit up with understanding. "If the Mist Village suddenly increases its naval presence, and Cloud Village merchant ships start getting attacked, the Cloud Village will think the Mist Village is behind it!"

The Nine-Tails grinned mischievously. "Exactly. The two villages already have a history of conflict over maritime dominance. If the Mist Village bolsters its forces and Cloud Village suffers losses, the Cloud Village will retaliate."

Kushina nodded eagerly. "And then, once they're busy fighting each other, we can switch targets to Mist Village merchant ships and create even more confusion!"

The Nine-Tails laughed. "Precisely. By then, both sides will be too distracted, and you'll have all the time you need to wreak havoc without being caught."

A Fox's Frustration

Kushina, overjoyed by the plan, leapt up and hugged the Nine-Tails' massive face. "You're amazing, Fox! Thank you!"

The Nine-Tails froze, its fur bristling. "What are you doing?!" it roared, pulling back in shock.

Kushina tilted her head innocently. "I'm thanking you!"

"By smothering me?!" The Nine-Tails shuddered, clearly unused to such affection. "I am a mighty tailed beast, not your pet!"

Kushina giggled. "Mighty or not, you're the best strategist ever! I knew I could count on you."

The Nine-Tails grumbled, but a hint of pride flickered in its eyes. Though it wouldn't admit it, the great fox enjoyed being useful to Kushina, even if it meant becoming her "dog-headed military strategist."
