Chapter 365: Chapter 365: Even If the First Hokage Returned, There Would Be No Peace

Advocating for peace without the strength to intimidate others is futile.

Among Konoha's leadership, Shimura Danzo stood out as the radical with ambition and power. Unfortunately, his reckless actions often caused more harm than good, leaving the village to clean up his mess.

A Conversation about Leadership

"I heard from Sister Tsunade that Uncle Hokage seems to be... a bit soft," Kushina remarked hesitantly, realizing too late how blunt her words sounded.

Shinki chuckled, shaking his head. "Hiruzen isn't exactly weak. His softness is in how he deals with outsiders. That's always been his characteristic. While Shimura Danzo complements him with aggression, neither of them has the overwhelming strength or decisiveness needed to keep Konoha invincible."

Kushina tilted her head, curious. "What about the past Kages? Couldn't they have done it?"

Shinki sighed. "Not even the Second Hokage, Tobirama, could do it. He understood his limits, which is why he sought alliances—like the one he tried to form with the Cloud Village. That alliance fell apart when Cloud leaders staged a coup, triggering the First Ninja World War.

"Hiruzen works hard, but compared to Tobirama, he falls short in both strength and decisiveness. Even with Danzo supporting him, they don't match Tobirama's leadership."

Kushina nodded slowly. "I get it... but what about you, Shinki? Could you keep the peace?"

The Challenges of Sustaining Peace

Shinki chuckled at the question. "Me? No way. I'm no Hashirama. And even if he were brought back, I doubt he could bring peace to the ninja world now.

"When the five great ninja villages were founded, everyone was focused on growth. Resources were abundant, and Hashirama's strength was enough to scare everyone into keeping the peace. But now? The villages are stronger and more divided, with smaller villages springing up everywhere.

"To truly enforce peace, someone would need the power and ruthlessness to destroy every village that refuses to comply. And Hashirama wasn't that kind of man. His ideals worked in a world where everyone wanted stability. That's no longer the case."

Kushina shivered. "That's... terrifying."

Shinki nodded. "It is. The best we can do now is ensure Konoha stays strong enough to protect itself. That's all."

Leaving Iwagakure

Deciding it was time to move on, Shinki clapped his hands, interrupting the group's thoughts. "Alright, pack up. Let's eat and get moving. Next stop: the Land of Wind and the desert!"

"Finally!" Kushina exclaimed, her enthusiasm infectious. Uchiha Mikoto and Hyuga Mehu nodded eagerly in agreement.

Life in Iwagakure might seem stable, but for outsiders like them, the atmosphere felt stifling. They couldn't leave fast enough.

Even Onoki understood. The Tsuchikage personally escorted them out of the village. Watching them leave on the back of one of Shinki's flying puppets, he felt a pang of envy.

Kitsuchi, Onoki's son, muttered, "Father, those puppets are so convenient. I heard the Sand Village traded their puppetry secrets for a batch of these from Konoha. Chiyo must have been desperate."

Onoki snorted. "Chiyo's no fool. She knew her puppetry couldn't compare to Konoha's advancements. Trading old secrets for something useful was smart. Sand Village needs people like her to survive."

Kitsuchi scratched his head. "I see your point, but puppets aren't much use to us. What we really need is information on the Perfect Jinchūriki. If the Cloud Village gets that knowledge before us, it'll put us at a serious disadvantage."

Onoki's expression darkened. "You're right. I'll handle it personally."
