Chapter 142: Chapter 142: Do Your Best to Entertain Me
Hearing that Mirai intended to throw him into the Police Force's detention facility, Hiruzen nearly choked on the outrage boiling within him.
"As expected, the Uchiha brat is inherently wicked!" he muttered to himself.
He, the Hokage of Konohagakure, locked away in a police cell? It would be the ultimate humiliation, a mockery etched in the annals of the ninja world. Just like what happened to Uchiha Fugaku back then…
"No!" Hiruzen growled, shaking off the dreadful thought. "Absolutely not!"
Cold sweat trickled down his temple as the horrifying scenario flashed through his mind. He could not allow such disgrace to befall him. Resolute, he stepped forward and raised his voice.
"Uchiha Mirai, today I'll show you what it means to be a true shinobi!"
Sarutobi removed his Hokage hat and robes, revealing his lean, wiry frame. A powerful aura erupted from him, a suffocating presence that made the air heavy. This was the Third Hokage, the man who had led Konohagakure for decades, not through empty words but through unshakable strength.
Mirai, unfazed, turned to his companions and waved them off.
"Step back. If you get hurt, I'm not taking responsibility."
Relieved, the onlookers, including Nara Shikaku, Aburame Shibi, and Inuzuka Tsume, retreated several hundred meters. They weren't eager to face Mirai's wrath if things went sideways.
The tension gave way to anticipation as they realized what was about to unfold.
"A battle between Uchiha Mirai and the Third Hokage," Shikaku murmured, his expression eager.
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime spectacle."
The ANBU members, following Sarutobi's orders, also pulled back to give the combatants room. Meanwhile, Koharu, sensing the winds of change, had quietly vanished with her clan members at the first opportunity.
Sarutobi steadied his breathing, drawing out his chakra. He had successfully maneuvered the situation into a one-on-one duel—the best outcome he could hope for under the circumstances.
With no retreat left, it was time to go all out.
Opening his summoning scroll, Sarutobi retrieved two massive shuriken. In a blur of motion, he launched them at Mirai while forming a series of hand seals.
"Shuriken Shadow Clone Jutsu!"
The two shuriken multiplied into dozens, filling the sky as they descended on Uchiha Mirai. But Mirai simply snorted in derision. From the gourd at his waist, torrents of golden sand erupted, forming a dense barrier.
Thud. Thud. Thud.
The shuriken struck the sand with muffled clangs before falling harmlessly to the ground.
Sarutobi wasted no time, weaving more seals. "Fire Style: Fire Dragon Flame Bullet!"
A fiery dragon roared toward Mirai, its blazing heat distorting the air. The impact was deafening as flames engulfed Mirai's silhouette. Without pause, Sarutobi followed up.
"Earth Style: Earth Dragon Bullet!"
The ground split apart, forming a colossal dragon of rock and soil that plunged into the flames.
"Lightning Release: Thunderbolt!"
"Water Style: Water Severing Wave!"
"Wind Style: Wind Blade!"
One after another, Sarutobi unleashed an onslaught of elemental jutsu, each blending seamlessly into the next. The area where Mirai stood became a maelstrom of destruction, obscured by swirling dust and crackling energy.
The spectators stood in awe. Even seasoned shinobi like Hyūga Hiashi and Shibi Aburame couldn't hide their amazement.
"Incredible… The Third truly deserves his title as the Professor of Ninjutsu," Shibi remarked.
When the dust finally began to settle, Sarutobi, slightly winded, fixed his gaze on the battlefield. To his dismay, Mirai emerged unscathed, encased in the crimson armor of a skeletal Susanoo.
"Is that all you've got, Third?" Mirai's voice dripped with mockery. "Or is this just your warm-up?"
Sarutobi gritted his teeth. "Then consider this the real fight!"
He created a shadow clone, and both he and the clone performed hand seals in unison.
"Combination Jutsu: Earth-Fire Dragon Stream!"
A monstrous dragon of molten rock surged forth, slamming into the Susanoo. Without missing a beat, Sarutobi followed up with another combination technique.
"Lightning-Water Dragon Blast!"
The raging water dragon, crackling with electricity, smashed into the crimson giant. The earth trembled under the sheer force of the combined attacks.
As the dust cleared again, Mirai's Susanoo appeared, showing cracks but still standing strong. Mirai's smirk deepened as he stared down at the winded Hokage.
"Not bad," he admitted. "For someone without any kekkei genkai, you've brought the Five Elemental Ninjutsu to an impressive level."
But his tone grew colder. "Still…"
Mirai's chakra flared. The Susanoo repaired itself in an instant, growing even larger. Muscles and sinews formed over the skeletal structure, followed by armor and wings. The fully-formed Susanoo loomed over the battlefield like a god of war.
Mirai folded his arms and looked down at Sarutobi. "So, Third, how will you entertain me now?"
Sarutobi's jaw tightened. "Multi-Shadow Clone Jutsu!"
With four clones now at his side, Sarutobi bit his thumb and slammed his hand onto the ground.
"Summoning Jutsu!"
With a puff of smoke, the white-furred Monkey King, Enma, appeared.
"Hiruzen, what's going on?" Enma asked, frowning at the enormous Susanoo.
"No time for explanations," Sarutobi replied grimly. "Transform!"
With a roar, Enma morphed into a massive staff. Sarutobi grasped it firmly as it extended, propelling him and his clones high into the air. From above, Sarutobi and his clones coordinated their chakra for one final attack.
"Five Release Great Combo!"
The combined might of earth, fire, wind, water, and lightning rained down in a cataclysmic assault. The ground split and groaned under the sheer force, and even the distant spectators had to retreat further.
When the chaos subsided, Sarutobi's clones were gone, and he collapsed onto one knee, panting heavily. His gaze turned toward Mirai, hoping against hope that this final effort had made an impact.
But the Susanoo remained. Though cracks marred its surface, it still stood tall, seemingly unshaken.
"Impressive," Mirai said, his tone carrying a rare hint of respect. "You truly are worthy of your reputation."
Then, his expression darkened as his Susanoo grew even larger, towering hundreds of meters tall. It transformed into its complete form, donning full armor and wielding massive weapons. Wings unfurled from its back, casting an ominous shadow over the battlefield.
Mirai's voice boomed, cold and commanding.
"Now, Third, show me… how will you try to entertain me this time?"
