Chapter 143: Chapter 143: A Punishment Long Overdue!
"Gulp… Is this the legendary Perfect Susanoo that once struck fear into the hearts of countless shinobi from Kirigakure?"
"The divine power of the Uchiha… truly terrifying."
"No wonder Uchiha Madara could quell an entire era of chaos with such strength. This power is beyond human—it's godlike!"
Staring at the colossal Susanoo towering into the heavens, its form seemingly endless, everyone present was left utterly speechless, their jaws slack with shock.
Especially the clan heads.
Most of them, having lived relatively peaceful lives in Konohagakure, had never set foot on the battlefield, let alone witnessed the Perfect Susanoo in action. Their understanding of it was pieced together from fragmented accounts and wild speculation.
Even that was enough to leave them awestruck. But now, faced with the actual sight of this gargantuan, hundreds-of-meters-tall behemoth, they couldn't suppress a collective gasp.
The oppressive aura radiating from it was so overwhelming that even from nearly a kilometer away, they felt an uncontrollable sense of helplessness.
None more so than Hiashi Hyuga.
A bitter smile spread across his face. Compared to the sheer power of the Sharingan, what was the Byakugan and Gentle Fist?
Not even worthy of trimming Susanoo's toenails.
"Protect the Third Hokage!"
A desperate shout came from one of the ANBU, breaking the silence. But even the typically disciplined ANBU hesitated, rooted to the spot, unable to muster the will to move.
They couldn't even find it in themselves to draw their weapons.
The Five Release Great Combo Technique unleashed by Hiruzen Sarutobi moments ago was already an awe-inspiring display, akin to a natural disaster. Yet, before this Perfect Susanoo, it felt like nothing more than a light breeze.
What could they possibly achieve against this?
Nearby, Minato Namikaze's face was grim. Always brimming with confidence, he now felt a profound sense of powerlessness.
In just three short years, that once-young boy he had sparred with—a little rough around the edges—had grown into a force that even he could only look up to.
In that moment, Minato felt a pang in his heart.
Perhaps… becoming Hokage would remain only a dream for him and Kushina.
"Third Hokage, answer my question."
From above, Uchiha Mirai's voice boomed once more. The Perfect Susanoo took a single step forward, and the earth beneath them quaked violently, splitting open with a deafening roar.
Deep cracks spread across the ground like a spiderweb, as if even the earth itself could no longer bear the weight of such a monstrous power.
Hiruzen Sarutobi, on his knees, looked utterly defeated. The last attack had drained every ounce of his chakra. Both his physical strength and spiritual energy were completely depleted.
Even at full strength, though, what could he have done against this?
In the face of Uchiha Mirai's overwhelming might, the Third Hokage had been utterly humiliated.
His era was over.
"Have you given up already?" Mirai's voice cut through the air, dripping with disdain. "Even weaker than I expected."
As the Perfect Susanoo dissipated into shimmering particles, Uchiha Mirai descended, landing lightly before Hiruzen. The younger man's presence was commanding, his confidence exuding an almost oppressive aura.
Looking up at him, Hiruzen let out a bitter laugh. "Uchiha Mirai, your arrogance will be your downfall one day."
Mirai raised an eyebrow. "Oh? The great Third Hokage has wisdom to impart? I'm feeling generous—enlighten me."
Sarutobi's lips curled into a cold smile. "The Mangekyō Sharingan comes with a curse. Over time, its users go blind. To flaunt your power so recklessly, wasting your eyesight on a Perfect Susanoo, is pure folly. The backlash will come for you soon enough."
His tone was resolute, as if the universe itself guaranteed this inevitability.
Mirai chuckled, a low and mocking sound. "Do you think I'm an idiot, Third Hokage?"
"What?"
Hiruzen blinked in confusion. How could someone capable of orchestrating such an elaborate coup and bringing him to his knees possibly be a fool?
"So let me tell you…" Mirai leaned in close, his voice barely above a whisper. "I've mastered my eyes. They will never fail me."
Hiruzen's head snapped up. "Impossible!"
"I don't need to lie to you."
The confidence in Mirai's voice sent a chill down Hiruzen's spine. The more he thought about it, the more it made sense. If Mirai were bound by the usual limitations of the Mangekyō Sharingan, there was no way he could have used his abilities with such impunity.
"Uchiha Mirai… just kill me already."
Staring into Hiruzen's eyes, now hollow with despair, Mirai let out a cold laugh.
"Oh, I'll let you die. But not yet. Death is far too easy for someone like you."
"No…" Hiruzen's voice trembled.
"I'll make sure you're remembered as a stain on this village, no, on the entire shinobi world. Your legacy will rot as you're condemned to eternal disgrace."
The words struck like a blade through Hiruzen's heart. He could endure defeat, endure losing everything.
But his carefully constructed image? His reputation? Never.
"Monster! You're crueler than any enemy I've faced," Hiruzen spat. "I once planned to nurture you, make you my successor. Why do you hate me so much?"
Slap!
A sharp crack echoed as Mirai's hand struck Hiruzen across the face. The old man stared in shock, his wrinkled cheek stinging with humiliation.
"You—!"
Slap!
Another blow silenced him.
"Suppressing the Uchiha, tarnishing their name, while turning a blind eye to Danzo's ambitions—you deserve this."
Slap!
"Driving Hatake Sakumo to disgrace and suicide—you deserve this."
Slap!
"Eradicating the Senju clan and letting Tsunade's line end—you deserve this."
Slap!
"Abandoning your students, leaving Konoha in shambles—you deserve this."
The relentless strikes left Hiruzen's face swollen and unrecognizable. The once-proud Hokage now sat motionless, his spirit crushed.
Finally, Mirai stepped back, his anger vented. Turning to the stunned crowd, he spoke with authority.
"Hachida, lock up the Hokage and the ANBU in the dungeon."
"Yes, Mirai-sama!"
The Uchiha clan members sprang into action, their faces brimming with long-suppressed elation. For too long, they had endured the humiliation of being under Hiruzen's thumb. Now, the tables had turned.
As the captives were led away, Mirai addressed the gathered clan heads.
"Keep today's events quiet. We'll unveil the truth when the time is right."
The clan heads exchanged uneasy glances but nodded in unison. They had seen Mirai's power firsthand. Resistance was futile. For now, survival meant obedience.
Watching their submission, Mirai allowed himself a small smile.
From today onward, Konoha was his.
And next on his list? Shimura Danzo.
