LGHTNOVELBOOK Chapter 44: The Wrong Party
The after-party was in full swing, the garden venue lit up with fairy lights and laughter echoing through the air. Guests were mingling, drinks in hand, and the dance floor was crowded. Even Kikidori, who rarely let his guard down, found himself relaxing slightly, leaning against a pillar while sipping a soda. Toga had managed to sneak into the party and was sitting with Mina and Kirishima, acting surprisingly normal for once.
Deku and Ochako, now officially married, were on the dance floor, their smiles radiating joy. The former members of Class 1-A were scattered throughout the venue, reminiscing about their days at UA while marveling at how far they'd come.
Everything seemed perfect—until a deafening crash shattered the atmosphere.
The music screeched to a halt, and everyone turned toward the source of the noise. A man with a mask and a jagged blade for an arm stood in the middle of what used to be the dessert table, having smashed through the wall. The villain's eyes scanned the crowd, clearly expecting easy prey.
"Everyone stay where you are!" the villain bellowed, his voice echoing menacingly. "Nobody move, and maybe I'll let you live!"
For a moment, there was stunned silence. Then Bakugo, standing near the drinks table, let out a loud laugh. "Are you kidding me? You really thought this was a normal party?"
The villain froze, confusion flashing in his eyes. "What do you mean?"
Kirishima cracked his knuckles. "You just walked into a party full of pro heroes, buddy."
The villain's face paled as realization dawned on him. Around him, heroes began to step forward, their expressions ranging from amused to annoyed. Todoroki was already creating ice on the ground, subtly trapping the villain in place.
The villain growled, trying to save face. "I don't care who you are! I'll take you all down!"
"Sure you will," Kikidori muttered under his breath.
Before the villain could react, Bakugo launched forward, a fiery explosion propelling him across the room. "Die!" he yelled, blasting the villain straight into a wall. The crowd barely had time to react before the others jumped in.
Todoroki followed up, encasing the villain's feet in ice while simultaneously launching a wall of fire to keep him distracted. The villain swung his blade arm wildly, trying to cut through the ice, but it was no use.
"Do you really think you can come into my wedding and ruin the party?" Ochako shouted, using her quirk to send a nearby table flying at the villain. Deku leapt in to deliver a Detroit Smash that knocked the weapon from the villain's hand.
The villain, now desperate, tried to flee, but his path was blocked by Kirishima, who hardened his entire body and stood firm. "Going somewhere?" Kirishima asked with a grin.
Kikidori finally decided to step in, activating his quirk. The villain suddenly froze, his eyes wide with terror as his worst nightmares played out in his mind. "Not so fun being the one scared, is it?" Kikidori said coldly.
The villain fell to his knees, shaking uncontrollably. Present Mic, who had been manning the DJ booth, finally grabbed his communicator and called the authorities. "We've got a villain ready for pickup!" he announced cheerfully.
It was over in less than five minutes. The police arrived shortly after to take the villain away, who was still muttering incoherently about the nightmares he'd seen.
As the party resumed, Bakugo smirked at the crowd. "Well, that was fun. Can we get back to the food now?"
"You blew up half the dessert table," Momo pointed out, sighing.
"Worth it," Bakugo said with a shrug.
Kikidori returned to his spot near the pillar, shaking his head. Toga approached him, a mischievous smile on her face. "You barely did anything, but somehow you still looked cool."
"I try," Kikidori replied, smirking slightly.
As the music started up again and the laughter returned, Kikidori couldn't help but think that this was one wedding reception no one would forget anytime soon.
