Chapter 9:
Chapter 9: The Qin Family’s Shame Must Be Washed Away With Blood:
Qin Zhan and Yun Lang—two names renowned throughout the Great Xia Nation.
Their legendary battle, though only briefly mentioned in textbooks, was enough to solidify their reputation. These men weren’t just warriors; they were titans in their own right.
Qin Zhan was a Martial Saint. Yun Lang, a half-step Martial Saint.
Individually, either of them was a force that Gao Wei could never contend with, let alone together.
While Gao Wei had recently achieved the rank of a half-step Martial Saint, his strength was worlds apart from Yun Lang, who had honed his skills battling ferocious beasts on the frontlines. Gao Wei, a vice president of a university who spent most of his days at the rear, stood no chance against these seasoned warriors.
As Gao Wei’s face turned pale, Qin Yan chuckled, his voice dripping with mockery. “Vice President Gao, didn’t you just vow to destroy me? What happened? Why haven’t you acted yet?”
Gao Wei’s fists clenched, his anger bubbling beneath the surface. He wanted nothing more than to crush Qin Yan. But he knew better. If he made a single move, the two men before him would reduce him to nothing more than a corpse.
He gritted his teeth and barked, “Qin Zhan, Yun Lang, you’ve left your posts without authorization. I’ll report this to the authorities!”
Qin Zhan sneered disdainfully. “Being absent without permission? That’s still better than Vice President Gao bullying a woman and a child.”
His expression darkened as he continued, his voice heavy with contempt. “I never thought I’d see the day when the sons of the Qin family would bleed and die on the battlefield, only for cowards like you to bully our family in the rear.”
Qin Zhan’s eyes burned with anger as he stepped closer to Gao Wei. “Tell me, Gao Wei, what excuse do you have for this disgraceful behavior?”
Gao Wei tried to defend himself, his tone desperate. “What happened today has a reason. Liu Xinyao didn’t love Qin Yan, and she was forced into this engagement!”
Crack!
Before he could say more, Qin Zhan stepped forward and slapped Gao Wei across the face with enough force to make him stagger.
“So what?” Qin Zhan roared. “What does that have to do with you? This is a matter between the Qin family and the Liu family. Who gave you the right to interfere?”
Gao Wei stumbled back, his face burning with humiliation and anger. Despite the slap, a hint of ferocity glinted in his eyes.
“But Qin Yan was about to kill someone!” Gao Wei argued, his voice shaking. “He’s still a student at the Capital Martial Arts Academy. He can’t act so cruelly!”
Crack!
Another slap landed on Gao Wei’s face, harder than the first.
“Don’t give me your self-righteous nonsense!” Qin Zhan shouted. “I’ll ask you plainly—do you dare to trample on the dignity of the Qin family? Are you ready to face the consequences?”
Gao Wei’s fists trembled as he struggled to suppress his rage. After a long pause, he gritted his teeth and said, “If my actions have offended you, I’m willing to take responsibility. I’ll personally visit your family to apologize. Will that suffice?”
Qin Zhan didn’t respond immediately. Instead, he turned his gaze to Qin Yan.
It was clear to everyone that Qin Yan had the final say.
This gesture shocked Gao Wei and the Liu family alike. They had underestimated Qin Yan’s influence within the Qin family. Even Qin Zhan, a Martial Saint, deferred to him.
Qin Yan met Gao Wei’s gaze, his expression cold and unyielding.
“No,” he said flatly. “That punishment is far too light.”
Gao Wei’s face twisted with rage. A half-step Martial Saint personally apologizing was already a tremendous humiliation, but Qin Yan deemed it insufficient?
Qin Zhan, however, seemed pleased by Qin Yan’s firmness. “Xiao Yan,” he said, his tone calm, “what punishment do you think is appropriate?”
Qin Yan’s voice was cold as ice. “Under normal circumstances, a private conflict might be tolerable. But today? Today was my engagement banquet. He dared to act out here, openly humiliating the Qin family.”
His gaze swept over the room, sharp and unforgiving. “This isn’t just a personal insult. It’s a direct challenge to the authority and dignity of the Qin family.”
Qin Yan’s tone turned chillingly resolute. “Such disrespect can only be answered with blood.”
Qin Yan’s voice was resolute. “So he must die, and his blood will wash away the shame brought upon the Qin family.”
Qin Yan’s determination to kill Gao Wei was not born solely from this moment. He knew Gao Wei was Xiao Fan’s greatest ally in the early stages of the plot. Gao Wei’s support had given Xiao Fan an edge, and later, when the Qin family fell, Gao Wei had played a pivotal role in their downfall.
Qin Yan vividly recalled that Qin Zhan’s death was tied to this very man.
With Xiao Fan’s help, Gao Wei had broken through to Martial Saint status and then ambushed Qin Zhan during a battle, leading to his demise.
There was no way Qin Yan would let him walk away.
Gao Wei, sensing the weight of his impending doom, shouted in desperation. “You can’t kill me! If you touch me, it’ll be lynching! The Qin family won’t escape the consequences of such an action!”
Qin Yan shot him a cold, disdainful glance. “Idiot.”
Qin Zhan burst into laughter, his voice like rolling thunder. “Well said! As expected of the young master of the Qin family—courageous and decisive!”
Turning his gaze to Gao Wei, Qin Zhan’s expression hardened. He spoke with finality, “Gao Wei, it’s time for you to die.”
With a furious roar, Qin Zhan stretched out his right hand. A massive, jet-black palm materialized in the sky, casting an ominous shadow over Gao Wei. The terrifying palm, known as the Devil’s Palm, was one of the Qin family’s unique techniques.
With Qin Zhan’s Martial Saint strength, a full-power strike from the Devil’s Palm could level mountains and turn seas. However, he restrained his strength, knowing that an unrestrained attack could destroy half the capital.
Gao Wei, panicking, tried to counter with a punch. But as he moved, he realized the Devil’s Palm was suppressing him, making his movements sluggish and clumsy.
Gao Wei roared in frustration, his body erupting with purple energy. He summoned a massive fist of energy to meet the Devil’s Palm.
But it was futile.
The Devil’s Palm obliterated Gao Wei’s energy fist with ease before slamming into him with immense force.
The impact sent Gao Wei hurtling to the ground, blood spurting from his mouth.
Qin Zhan sneered, stepped forward, and raised his fist to deliver the final blow. If his punch landed, Gao Wei’s life would end instantly.
Just as Qin Zhan’s fist descended, two voices rang out simultaneously.
“Stop!”
A sharp sword energy streaked through the air, tearing toward Qin Zhan with incredible speed. The energy moved so fast it seemed to slice through space itself, reaching him in an instant.
Qin Zhan was forced to abandon his attack on Gao Wei, narrowly dodging the sword energy.
The sword energy, however, continued its path and struck the Liu family’s compound.
BOOM!
Hundreds of buildings collapsed in an instant, reduced to rubble.
Qin Zhan’s fury erupted as he stared at the destruction. Whoever had launched the attack clearly aimed to harm him.
“Who dares to sneak attack me?” he roared, his voice echoing through the ruins.
A middle-aged man wielding a sword stepped into the courtyard. His presence was calm, yet commanding. “It’s me,” said Jiang Mingqing, the dean of the Capital Martial Arts Academy. “I acted out of urgency to save Vice President Gao and didn’t mean to target you intentionally.”
Behind Jiang Mingqing was a group of men dressed in standard light armor, armed with long swords and other weapons.
These were members of the Public Security Department, the law enforcement force of Great Xia Nation.
At their helm was a bearded man in his forties. His aura marked him as an eighth-grade warrior—the department’s director.
Seeing these two figures, Qin Yan’s mood soured. His expression darkened as he coldly asked, “Do you two intend to make enemies of the Qin family?”
