Chapter 18: Chapter 18 : Wanda Invitation
---
[Ding! The host successfully hid for nine months, please continue to work hard!]
"Another month has passed."
Finn took off his headphones and listened to the notification sound echoing in his mind. A wave of relief washed over him.
One step closer to hiding for a full year!
If he could just make it through the last three months, he would unlock new rewards.
Looking at it now, apart from the uncertain factor of Agatha, there shouldn't be any other problems.
And during this period, Finn had nearly perfected the spirit transformation technique within magical modifications. It wouldn't take long before he could finally deal with the old witch.
As for Wanda…
She had stabilized recently, and the grief she once had for Vision had gradually faded.
After all, her connection with Vision had always been tied to the Mind Stone.
Wanda's abilities originated from the Mind Stone, which created a unique bond between them. It wasn't purely love—there was something deeper, something difficult to define.
Additionally, whether her Chaos Magic would spiral out of control remained uncertain.
This entire concept was always tricky.
There were multiple theories. Some believed that Chaos Magic was a tool used by dark forces, allowing them to possess and corrupt its wielder.
Anyone who absorbed Chaos Magic would eventually become a vessel for an ancient being, leading to possession or worse.
Others argued that the Chaos Magic wielded by Wanda in the MCU had no connection to any external deity or entity.
People had their own interpretations.
"This might be the real charm of the Marvel multiverse."
Finn stood up from his desk, stretching his arms while sighing with a mix of amusement and helplessness.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe had evolved rapidly, diving into the concept of multiple realities. The three Spider-Men appearing together had been one of the greatest highlights.
Thinking about it, he suddenly remembered something.
"I almost forgot about Spider-Man."
The events of Spider-Man: Far From Home and Mysterio's schemes were occurring around this time.
With Wanda controlling Westview, things might unfold differently. Spider-Man's timeline could be affected as a result.
Finn quickly sat down and searched for updates. Reports about Spider-Man fighting crime in New York were everywhere.
Other than that, no major incidents had occurred.
The Snap caused by Thanos had erased half of life in the universe, but it had also drastically reduced crime.
For once, the world had entered a brief period of peace.
But this was merely the calm before the storm.
After a short reprieve, emotions that had been buried for years were resurfacing. Chaos was inevitable.
And at the center of it all was Spider-Man's upcoming battle with Mysterio.
A man broken by the world.
Using Stark's technology, he had desperately sought recognition, wanting to convince the world that he was the rightful successor to Iron Man.
To achieve his goal, he orchestrated destruction, manipulated perceptions, and risked innocent lives—all just to elevate his own legend.
That was never the path of a true hero.
"Still hasn't happened yet…"
Finn muttered to himself before something clicked.
"Wait—school starts in September! Peter Parker should be heading to Venice soon."
In the U.S., high school typically resumed in September.
To help reintegrate students who had vanished during the Blip, schools organized special trips, giving them a chance to reconnect.
And Midtown High's trip? A study tour to Venice, Italy.
Now, the timeline was coming together.
First, the Mysterio incident.
Then Wanda's transformation into the Scarlet Witch.
After that, the three Spider-Men joining forces.
Doctor Strange's multiverse crisis was at the end—meaning that was when things would spiral out of control.
"There shouldn't be any gaps in the timeline now."
After organizing his thoughts, Finn glanced at the clock.
It was already past six in the evening—time for dinner.
He leaned back in his chair, contemplating what to eat.
Boom!
A soft knock at the door.
"Finn, are you home?"
He recognized the voice instantly. It was Wanda.
"Want to grab dinner together?"
Finn opened the door, his greeting almost automatic.
Lately, Wanda had made a habit of stopping by around dinner time.
"Would you rather eat alone?"
A small smile curled at the corners of Wanda's lips. The sorrow that once clouded her eyes had faded, replaced by something softer.
Finn smirked.
"I'd much rather eat with a beautiful lady."
Grabbing his coat, he asked, "How about that Mexican place again?"
Other than that one, they hadn't explored many restaurants. The flavors had become familiar, and the chef's skills were undeniably authentic.
"No, I want to invite you to my place for dinner."
Wanda hesitated before saying it.
"Your place?"
Finn blinked, momentarily taken aback.
Noticing his reaction, Wanda quickly added, "Just as a thank-you. For everything you've done this month—especially helping with the house repairs. You were the one who called the contractors."
Finn stood still for a moment, processing her words.
She was saying a lot… all at once.
Why did it feel like she was making excuses out of guilt?
"Don't worry, I can actually cook."
Seeing his hesitation, Wanda spoke again, her voice softer this time.
Truthfully, she wasn't entirely sure why she had invited Finn.
Maybe it was because of everything he had done for her.
Maybe it was because she felt she owed him something.
Or maybe—just maybe—she simply wanted his company.
