Chapter 19: Chapter 19 : Dinner With Wanda
.
---
Wanda didn't know exactly when it started, but she gradually realized that she had an indescribable feeling for the handsome and sunny young man in front of her.
Perhaps it was his attitude towards life that influenced her during their one-month time together.
Especially that time at the Mexican restaurant—his outlook on life, the way he saw the world—it had left a deep impression on her.
This man had an inexplicable attraction to her.
At the moment, Wanda saw that he wasn't speaking and couldn't help feeling a little down.
"Are you sure you won't come? I've already prepared all the dishes in advance," she said, a hint of expectation in her voice.
"Since the Avenger herself is cooking, I definitely can't miss it," Finn replied with a smile.
His silence earlier wasn't hesitation—it was purely accidental.
In the past, it was normal for the gorgeous witch to invite him out for a meal, or to take a walk and chat occasionally. Between friends, that was completely fine.
But an unsolicited invitation to dinner at home… now, that was an entirely different matter.
Think about it—lonely man, lonely woman…
Cough cough cough…
Finn admitted that, for a moment, his mind had gone in the wrong direction.
But Wanda inviting him over for dinner wasn't anything strange. It was just a meal, and it aligned with the open and free personality she had developed in America.
After a while, the two arrived at the next suite.
Just as Wanda had said, several dishes were set on the table. There were Mexican dishes, and surprisingly, bowls,Knives,Meat,Forks sat neatly beside them.
Finn raised an eyebrow in amusement. "Wanda, you sure you're not Mexican?"
"You took me to eat Mexican food for an entire month. If I still didn't know how to use chopsticks, wouldn't I look stupid?"
Wanda shot him a playful glare.
After a whole month of eating Mexican food, she had mastered cooking.
"No, Wanda, you're smart," Finn replied.
He sat down, picked up his Knives and forks, and immediately dug into a generous bite of Meat.
The fat but not greasy texture, the perfect balance of lean meat, the rich taste bursting in his mouth—it was amazing.
Pairing it with a mouthful of fluffy rice only made it more addicting.
Finn ate a few more bites, his curiosity growing. "This is your first time cooking Mexican food?"
"The second time. I tried it yesterday," Wanda admitted, watching his reaction closely.
Seeing his surprised expression, she couldn't help but feel satisfied.
"I was wrong earlier," Finn said, shaking his head. "You're not just smart—you're a genius."
He recalled his own attempts at cooking in the past.
As someone who grew up with Mexican cuisine, he had tried making it a few times. But it was always a disaster.
One time, he didn't control the heat properly and ended up with a dry, overcooked mess…
But he wouldn't admit that. It would be too embarrassing.
One thing was certain—cooking definitely required skill.
"How can there be so many geniuses? You say that every time," Wanda said, rolling her eyes with a helpless smile.
This guy…
Every time she did something impressive, whether it was magic or anything else, he called her a genius.
But she hadn't even touched any magic books.
"Because I like telling the truth," Finn said casually.
Wanda just sighed and pushed the vegetable dish toward him. "Eat more vegetables and less talk."
Finn chuckled but obeyed.
Wanda, who was usually quiet, found herself talking more when she was with him.
She looked at the man across from her, his face relaxed as he enjoyed the meal, and a thought crossed her mind.
"Finn, you're right," she said, her tone suddenly serious. "Five years have passed in the real world… It's time for me to look forward."
Finn froze for a second.
He knew exactly what she was talking about.
Vision.
During their time together, Wanda had mentioned him a few times.
But every time, she would stop halfway and quickly change the subject.
Now, hearing her say this so directly—it surprised him.
It was one thing to sense that her emotions had stabilized, that she was slowly letting go of the past…
But it was another thing entirely to hear it from her own mouth.
"You've thought it through?" Finn asked, still processing it.
Wanda nodded.
A slow smile spread across Finn's face. "Then congratulations on taking another step toward your new life."
He raised his glass and took a sip of wine.
Woo woo woo…😭
Now he didn't have to constantly worry about the Chaos Magic inside her getting out of control.
Thinking about it, he asked, "So, do you have any new goals?"
"The Avengers have changed. Steve and Tony are gone. I don't want to go back," Wanda said, taking a sip of red wine.
Her old friends were no longer there. There was no reason to return.
Besides, she had never particularly liked going on missions.
Going back now would mean becoming a tool for the government again.
She had already experienced the Sokovia Accords.
She knew how the higher-ups truly saw the Avengers—not as people, but as weapons to be controlled.
"Wanda, your cooking skills are so good. You might as well open a Mexican restaurant in the future," Finn joked. "I'd be your most loyal customer."
After eating the last piece of meat, he was still a little unsatisfied. "This is the first time I've had Food that's actually this tasty."
"The seasoning and heat are the key," Wanda said, watching him with amusement.
Finn nodded. "It really leaves an aftertaste that makes you want more…"
But before he could say anything else, Wanda suddenly interrupted him.
"Actually, Finn, I invited you over tonight for another reason."
Her voice was calm, but her eyes—glowing faintly with a scarlet light—were locked onto him intently.
Finn paused.
"What is it?"
He turned to look at her, confused.
She had drunk some wine, and her fair skin now carried a rosy hue, almost as red as her code name.
A faint, intoxicating flush spread across her face, making her look… different.
For a moment, the cold room seemed to grow warmer.
The atmosphere suddenly felt a little strange…
