Chapter 145: Easy
CLANK!
CLANK!
CLANK!
The sound of the shovel hitting the ground and then the chunks of soil getting out resounded near the flowing river.
Even a makeshift pickaxe was in use in order to break a certain big rock that was in the way of the new layout for the canal that would reach the shelter.
"How much area have you already planned, John?" Mike asked, his hands didn't stop working and hadn't stopped the whole 2 hours of time.
"About 10 minutes toward the shelter, why?"
"Nothing, I was just wondering how much time we are going to give this thing," Mike said, his annoyance seeping out from his voice even when he was doing his best to support the project.
"Mike, if you think you need more time to train, then just go back. You have already helped enough for the day." Lucas said while taking out a big chunk of land in one scoop.
All the melee fighters of the group had strength above 20 points which helped them do the work without stopping for even a second.
They were still sweating profusely but the strength and stamina in them made this hard work seem like eating a candy.
Alas, all the support and normal civilians of the shelter had the opposite to say.
They had to take a break after every 20 minutes due to the lack of stamina, strength, and will to perform such acts.
The support may have been lacking the manpower for this project yet they still helped with there all especially Sarah who had worked the most out of all the support.
Even Ella had been working a lot and John didn't say anything meaning that he had finally stopped being overprotective of her making the couple more understanding of each other than before.
"Oh, incoming feline shit."
"Language"
Everyone looked at the area where Bill was pointing to, a creature the size of a lion with the same characteristics aside from the hundreds of teeth it presented before them with an open mouth was trying to sneak toward them.
"I will take care of it," Barney said and flicked his finger making one of the shovels move in the air beside him.
The shovel had a very fine movement in the air as if Barney had done it a lot of times and it was just a small and menial task for him.
GROWL!
The feline roared with arrogance even after seeing what Barney could, its opened mouth started forming a small ball of green energy when suddenly it stopped its advances and attack.
The feline looked in the direction of a certain someone who was staring at it with a cold look.
Not one but more people in the groups noticed the cold look on Lucas's face after they felt a chill in their spine from behind.
Lucas had the tendency of showing his fighting spirit when a fight like this presented itself on its own.
He wanted to fight the creature himself in a death fight without his sword, he craved for the action yet Barney had already taken the opportunity and he wanted to respect his decision.
But it didn't make him stop to think of all sorts of ways he could kill the creature that unintentionally made his bloodlust leak and seep into his aura.
PUCHI!!
Before the feline could do anything or even move its eyes away from Lucas's cold ones, its face got punctured inside halfway by the shovel.
The feline fell to the ground marking the death of yet another creature that had approached them near the river.
"We should get done with today's work quickly, the river is a hub for all sorts of menace and we can't really waste our time on them," Lucas stated making everyone look at him with a judgy look.
Yet he didn't know and no one bothered to tell him about his silent outburst. It was even good for the group to have such a guy who could stop a creature at its advances with a single stare.
"Alright, only 10 more meters and we are done for today."
John stated and they went to work after Haley placed the corpse inside her spacial storage that had increased in size since the several level-ups.
The canal was now dug 8 meters long with an average depth of four feet.
It was only possible due to the increased strength of all the people in the shelter.
"Lucas, I will take up your offer, I have to go practice my fire bullet more, I feel like getting a breakthrough today."
"I will come too, the cooking for today is not done anyway."
"Me too"
"Me too"
"Alright Alright fine! You all can go but be careful your way back," Lucas said while he dug some more.
He was the only one who was the most passionate about this project, even more, than the concrete bricks ones that would get him fortunes if completed successfully.
In about half an hour, they were done with the goal of the day with the help of nearly 8 people. Enjoy new tales from empire
"By the way, how are the orders for today, Uncle John?" Lucas asked with a yawn, they were all on their way back to the shelter after a good day of work.
"Your mother's order of smoked meat is already ready to give, our share is inside the storage. We have made contact with 3 more individuals who had taken a specific amount of raw and smoked meat in exchange for small corpses that we have a value of in the slate. I would say, about 300 pieces of raw meat is inside the storage which is making the place a bit cramped."
"Such a weird situation, we got so much meat while people all around the world are dying of hunger." Lucas had a mild smile on his face.
He did not care that people were dying as long as they were not from his group or family.
But he also felt that the shelter had not only the ability to protect Lucas's groups and its inhabitants, but it could also help people even if they were not present in the shelter and Lucas had the goal to help as much as he could and be done with hi good part.
DING!
