Chapter 680: Results
After a week of practice, Rain thought that it was better to send Seadir's friends to the south and fight the kraken dragons that showed up now and then there… that would make their skills level up and gain levels on the necessary paths.
"What do you think?" Rain asked.
"I suppose that is the best option considering efficiency," Seadir said. "The range of their skills are a bit limited, though. Even if the warriors there will work as shield for them. Things might become dangerous for them."
"That will make them improve faster. Motivation is important," Seara said.
Seadir and Seara had differing perspectives on how to manage their underlings, and their reasons were rooted in their unique circumstances. Seadir, with his small and close-knit group of underlings, considered them more as friends rather than subordinates. As such, his primary concern was their safety and well-being.
He was determined to keep them out of harm's way, prioritizing their protection and maintaining the strong bonds of camaraderie they had built over the years.
On the other hand, Seara recognized the urgency of the situation. The sea folk had suffered significant losses in the recent conflict, and they needed to regain their strength quickly. She believed that pushing their underlings to get stronger at a faster pace was essential to compensate for the loss of power they had experienced.
Seara's approach was more focused on rebuilding their strength and preparing for future challenges, even if it meant taking calculated risks and pushing their underlings to their limits.
"You guys can go there and see the results for a week, then we can decide the next steps after that," Rain said.
"All right," Rain said.
After a while, Seadir and his underlings left and then Rain resumed his work to craft some more instruments. He still wanted to make some humans learn how to use them and also unlock the bard path, to make things more efficient. The reason for that was the fact that that the buffs stacked when the songs used were the same.
If ten people could use sound magic and make the strength of those who could hear it increase by ten points, then the listeners would receive ten buffs… the limited range was still a problem, though.
"Rain, do you think that I was being too harsh?" Sears asked.
"About sending the sea folk help the southern side?" Rain asked.
"Yeah… now that I think about it, we need to be more cautious," Seara said with her head down. "I can't say that kind of thing when I never truly was in danger during the fights agaisnt the dragons."
"You are starting to act more like someone who understand how war works, so it can't be helped," Rain said. "We can train as many and much people as we want, but that can only help so much. People still need to sharpen themselves in real battles. That being said… it is better to say that kind of thing when you can do something for others that will increase their chances of survival.
That will make them understand that you are sending them to a battlefield knowing that you trust them."
Seara nodded and then went silent for a while… Rain realized that she was trying to become more helpful when it comes to militaristic issues, but she still didn't know how far she could go without causing problems. Rain wanted to teach everything he knew, but most things needed to be experienced to be truly learned…
While Rain was waiting for results coming from Seadir's side, he began to hear more and more reports about the signs of battle on the magic people and the beast people's territory. They were fighting the dragons as well and it seemed that they were putting up a good fight since they had someone unknown backing them up.
Around the same time Seadir was supposed to return, Geo appeared on Rain's territory with some troublesome news… at that point in time, Rain gets worried when he doesn't receive them every week.
"Commander, the beast people are using barriers in their towns as well," Geo said. "The largest ones already have barriers… some dragons attacked those places yesterday, but they were pushed away with several wounds."
"You are taking your chances watching them now, huh?" Rain frowned. "Making someone take your place will be a pain in the ass if you die, so try to be more mindful of danger."
"Yes sir," Geo said. "I have been thinking, wouldn't it be easier for the dragons if they just attacked with all their might a single country and then targeted others afterwards?"
"Yes, that would usually be the best option," Rain said. "But I guess they are messing with us… they won't fight for real until they suffer serious losses."
While one might assume that the dragons had already suffered substantial losses due to the battles with Rain and his allies, it appeared that the dragons were far from revealing their true might. Despite the setbacks they had encountered, they were undoubtedly a formidable force, but they didn't show all their strength.
However, it was also apparent that Rain and his companions needed to exercise caution. Provoking the dragons or engaging in further confrontations anytime soon might not be in their best interest. They had already faced their fair share of perilous encounters, and rushing into more battles could have severe consequences.
It was a strategic decision to bide their time, regroup, and ensure they were adequately prepared for whatever challenges the dragons might present in the future.

"Keep away from the barriers and use your senses to find their limits, we don't want you to be found by them," Rain said. "Some of them can fly, after all."
"Yes sir," Geo said.
Soon, Geo departed once more and around the same time. Seadir returned with his underlings, and he seemed to be in a good mood since they looked fine and unscathed.
