Chapter 4: Chapter:4:Echoes of the Past and the Flames of Battle

Legend of Xypher

A Sudden Attack

The morning sun barely touched the sky when Xypher and Lyra left the village, heading toward their next destination—the Temple of Celestia, an ancient place rumored to hold secrets about the Dragon War.

Lyra stretched, yawning. "I barely slept last night."

Xypher smirked. "Thinking about me too much?"

Lyra's face turned red. "W-What?! As if! You're just annoying!"

Before Xypher could respond, the ground exploded beneath them.

BOOM!

A massive shadow loomed overhead—a towering warrior in jet-black armor, wielding a gigantic spear crackling with dark energy.

"You carry the blood of dragons," the warrior growled, pointing his weapon at Xypher. "You must be eliminated."

Xypher narrowed his eyes. "Who the hell are you?"

The warrior smirked. "I am Vaelgard, the Abyss Spear, one of the Seven Doom Sentinels."

Lyra's eyes widened. "Wait… the Sentinels were the strongest warriors during the Dragon War. But they vanished a thousand years ago!"

Vaelgard grinned. "We did not vanish. We were waiting."

Without warning, he thrust his spear, aiming straight for Xypher's heart.

Xypher vs. Vaelgard

Xypher dodged in the last second, countering with an Aura Breaker punch.

CLANG!

Vaelgard blocked it effortlessly. With incredible speed, he swung his spear, sending a shockwave that split the ground apart.

Xypher leaped back, his heart racing. This guy is strong…

Lyra dashed in, her daggers glowing with magic. "We fight together!"

She launched a flurry of attacks, but Vaelgard blocked each one with terrifying precision. With a flick of his wrist, he sent her flying into a tree.

"LYRA!"

Xypher's energy exploded, his aura flaring bright blue.

His power level skyrocketed from 500 to 1,000.

"You're dead," Xypher growled, dashing forward with blinding speed.

He punched through Vaelgard's armor, sending the warrior crashing into the ground.

Vaelgard coughed up blood, then smirked. "Impressive. But this is far from over…"

With a final chuckle, he vanished into the shadows.

Xypher clenched his fists. "He'll be back."

The Temple of Celestia

After treating Lyra's wounds, they finally reached the Temple of Celestia. The ruins were covered in glowing symbols, depicting dragons and warriors battling in the sky.

Lyra traced a hand over the carvings. "This war… it wasn't just humans vs. dragons."

Xypher frowned. "Then what was it?"

A deep voice echoed through the temple.

"It was a war… between gods."

A mysterious hooded figure stepped forward, his golden eyes glowing beneath the shadows.

"Who are you?" Xypher demanded.

The figure smiled. "I am Orion, the Keeper of Truth. And you, Xypher, are destined to learn the forgotten past."

A Deeper Connection

That night, they stayed at a small cabin near the temple.

Lyra sat by the fire, arms wrapped around her knees. "Today was insane."

Xypher sat beside her. "Yeah… but you fought well."

She looked at him, surprised. "You think so?"

Xypher nodded. "You're strong, Lyra. And… I trust you."

Her heart skipped a beat. "You do?"

He smirked. "Of course. Who else is going to keep me from dying?"

Lyra laughed softly. But deep inside, something changed.

I think I really am falling for him…
