Chapter 6:
Chapter 6: Bai Ying Is Missing
When he heard those words, Xiao Yu froze. After a long moment, he slowly looked up.
“She… started cultivating the Emotionless Path?”
“Yeah! Isn’t that great?”
The person grinned and even patted Xiao Yu on the shoulder in celebration.
But he didn’t realize—when Xiao Yu heard the words “Emotionless Path,” his mind buzzed. He stood there in a daze, a heavy weight suddenly sinking into his chest.
He couldn’t imagine that the girl whose eyes always sparkled every time she saw him would now become cold and emotionless.
Bai Ying… she actually went to cultivate the Emotionless Path.
Would she really lose all emotions from now on?
A strange tightness gripped his chest, an ache that made it hard to breathe.
Even though he had told himself again and again not to think about her anymore, Xiao Yu couldn’t stop the pain in his heart. All he could think about was the day he agreed to her proposal—and how her eyes lit up with joy.
Xiao Yu clenched his fingers tightly.
Just then, someone noticed something strange and asked, “What’s wrong? Why are you spacing out? Don’t tell me… you didn’t want Bai Ying to cultivate the Emotionless Path? I thought you didn’t like her…”
“How could that be?” Xiao Yu immediately cut him off. “I couldn’t be happier. You all know—there’s no one I dislike more than Bai Ying. Now that she won’t be pestering me anymore, I’m thrilled.”
As he spoke, he quickly turned and left, flying straight toward Ruan Xinrou’s residence with his sword.
When he arrived, Xiao Yu hurriedly approached Ruan Xinrou without hesitation.
He had never been so anxious before.
Ruan Xinrou was bent over, tending to spiritual herbs. When she saw him, she gently waved her hand with a soft smile.
“Senior Brother Xiao, what brings you here…”
Before she could finish, he pulled her into a tight embrace.
“Senior Brother?”
“Xinrou, I like you.”
Xiao Yu clung to the girl in his arms, forcing himself to believe his own words.
He liked Ruan Xinrou. Always had, still did, and always would—past, present, and future.
As for Bai Ying? She was just a way to pass the time, a plaything he used to help Ruan Xinrou get her revenge.
So what if she cultivated the Emotionless Path? What did that have to do with him?
—
At the Cliff of Reflection, Bai Ying was cultivating.
With memories from her past life, her progress was extremely fast. In no time, she had gone from the seventh layer of the Qi Refining stage straight to the Foundation Establishment stage.
Aside from cultivation, she also searched the cliff base for materials and forged an incense burner-shaped artifact.
In her previous life, she had used this kind of artifact to dominate various secret realms.
Now, although the materials used weren’t of the same high grade, it was enough to let her defend herself—even against opponents one full realm higher.
“It’s just that I’m short on spirit stones…” Bai Ying murmured.
She had none left. If she had enough spirit stones to power this artifact, she could even kill a cultivator at the early Golden Core stage.
But it didn’t matter. The Cliff of Reflection was rich with materials. She could refine more artifacts and sell them later.
She extended her hand, and a ball of flame ignited in her palm.
If another cultivator had seen this, their jaw would have dropped.
Because this flame was spirit fire—something only a Soul Formation cultivator could ignite using their divine soul.
Bai Ying’s divine soul had awakened. Along with her memories, she also inherited her Soul Formation divine soul. Using spirit fire was as easy as breathing.
Three months passed in a flash.
When Bai Ying finally emerged from the Cliff of Reflection, she looked as though she had been gone for years.
Everyone who came out with her had pale faces. One even collapsed immediately upon leaving.
The environment at the Cliff was brutal. Everyone who came out looked half-dead. If Bai Ying’s divine soul hadn’t awakened, her condition might’ve been even worse.
Outside, others rushed forward to support their fellow disciples, concerned and caring.
Only Bai Ying stood alone—no one came for her.
In the past, she might’ve felt sad about this.
But now, she felt nothing.
Her mind was filled with one thought only—to sell her artifact as soon as possible. Once she had enough spirit stones, the incense burner would unleash its full power.
—
By the time Bai Ying’s Senior Brother Su Yu realized she hadn’t returned to the sect, three whole days had passed.
Su Yu had been busy cultivating and hadn’t left his quarters. He assumed Third Junior Brother had gone to pick her up.
But to his shock, Liu Qingyue hadn’t gone at all.
“You’re saying Bai Ying never came back? And Third Junior Brother didn’t go get her?”
Su Yu anxiously questioned the old servant cleaning the place.
The old man nodded. “That’s right. I haven’t seen Fairy Bai. And Immortal Liu hasn’t left his room these past few days either.”
Su Yu’s eyes narrowed, and he immediately pulled out Liu Qingyue’s communication talisman.
By the time Liu Qingyue arrived, Su Yu’s face was already dark with worry.
“Junior Sister came out of the Cliff of Reflection—why didn’t you go pick her up?”
Liu Qingyue finally remembered. “Ah… I’ve been busy these last few days making a new hairpin for Little Junior Sister. I forgot. Besides, didn’t you say you’d go?”
“I… was cultivating. I thought you would handle it.”
Su Yu was getting anxious.
When Bai Ying had gone to the Cliff, she’d been seriously injured. The environment was terrible—she stayed there for three months. She must’ve been extremely weak when she came out.
He had always meant to go pick her up. Somehow, he had gotten so absorbed in cultivation that he forgot.
“What do we do now?”
“It’s fine,” Liu Qingyue said dismissively. “Bai Ying has legs, doesn’t she? She’ll come back.”
“But she hasn’t. What if something happened to her?”
Su Yu felt uneasy.
Three days had passed already. He had no idea where Bai Ying had gone.
He frowned and said to Liu Qingyue, “Try using your communication talisman. See if you can reach her.”
Liu Qingyue froze.
“Senior Brother… you don’t have one?”
Su Yu’s brows furrowed. He had once. But he had thrown it away—annoyed by how often Bai Ying tried to contact him.
She had wanted to explain that she hadn’t bullied Little Junior Sister. Su Yu never believed her, and eventually cut her off entirely.
“I don’t have her talisman either,” Liu Qingyue said. He had decided to cut ties the moment he heard Bai Ying had bullied Ruan Xinrou. There was no way he’d keep it.
Su Yu quickly reached out to the other senior brothers in the sect—none of them had it either.
He found it laughable.
In such a big sect, not one person could reach their Fifth Junior Sister.
Were they even her sect family?
“Where did Bai Ying usually like to go? Let’s search those places.”
When Su Yu said this, the others fell completely silent.
No one could name a single place.
