Chapter 5:
Chapter 5: Let Me Tell You Some Good News:
Qin Zijin quickly stepped forward to support him, glaring at Bai Ying with mockery and scorn tugging at the corners of her mouth.
“Senior Brother, how could you actually believe her? Someone as scheming as she is—there’s no way she’d truly give up her cultivation to start over. This is just another trick to win sympathy. That artifact she destroyed was definitely fake. You think she’d really be willing to part with something valuable?”
Qin Zijin simply didn’t believe Bai Ying had truly dispersed her cultivation. It had to be a deception.
That same senior sister who always complained she didn’t have enough spirit stones for cultivation—how could she possibly be willing to discard all of her hard-earned power?
He sneered coldly, thinking about how to expose her lie.
But before he could say another word, Bai Ying took out something else, handed it to the law enforcer, and calmly said to him, “Give this to the dog you brought with you.”
Qin Zijin, who had just been speaking with such certainty, suddenly froze.
A surge of unexplainable fury shot to his head.
“Bai Ying, you’re insane! What the hell do you think you’re doing?!”
What Bai Ying had just handed over was the spatial artifact that Qin Zijin had begged her to refine for him. He’d always been envious of the jade pendant she had, which contained a vast internal space, and wanted her to craft one for himself too.
He never imagined that she would hand it over like that—to a dog!
Wasn’t that saying he was worse than a dog?
That bastard!
“Bai Ying, insulting me like this—do you really want to sever all bonds between fellow disciples?!”
But Bai Ying ignored him completely. After tossing away the item without hesitation, she turned and walked away.
Qin Zijin was unwilling to let her leave so easily and grabbed her forcefully.
Bai Ying turned around, looked at him coldly, and found the whole situation laughable.
She clenched her fingers, forcefully shaking his hand off, and said clearly, word by word:
“Whatever bond we had ended the moment you sided with Xiao Yu and plotted against me. I should be thanking you for that sword you gave me. It helped me see everything clearly.”
…
Bai Ying was taken to the Cliff of Reflection. Although the environment was harsh, she felt an overwhelming sense of peace.
This was a step she should’ve taken long ago. Perhaps then she wouldn’t have died so miserably in her past life.
Looking back, even back then she had found Ruan Xinrou strange. That girl seemed to possess some sort of magical charm—anyone who got close to her would fall helplessly in love with her, willing to give her everything.
Except for Bai Ying.
It was like Ruan Xinrou had singled her out.
Bai Ying had always wondered why. Until the moment she died and became a spirit, and saw Ruan Xinrou calling out to the system in the air…
Only then did she understand everything.
According to the system Ruan Xinrou spoke to, she was the female lead of this world—the one with the greatest fortune. Her mission was to replace Bai Ying and steal her destiny.
Bit by bit, she had to take everything from Bai Ying—the love of her senior brothers, the care of their master… She called these things “fortune points.” With every piece she stole, the system’s power grew stronger, and her replacement process accelerated. She would gain more abilities. It became a cycle of gain: the more she took, the more powerful she became. Eventually, just by standing there, she could make everyone fall in love with her.
Fortunately, after long observation, Bai Ying discovered that this so-called system wasn’t all-powerful. For example, Ruan Xinrou couldn’t just kill anyone at will—it always had to be done through external means. Even her cultivation still required her own effort. The most she got was help from the senior brothers, but even that was enough for her to rise to the top.
In her past life, with the help of everyone, Ruan Xinrou entered the Nascent Soul Realm in record time, shocking everyone and becoming the youngest Nascent Soul Realm cultivator in the sect—celebrated across the cultivation world.
Meanwhile, Bai Ying had her Golden Core dug out, reduced to nothing more than an ant.
Bai Ying still remembered how Ruan Xinrou had stood before her, stomped on her fingers, leaned down, and smiled wickedly.
“You have nothing left. Everything you liked, pursued, and loved… it’s all mine now. Don’t worry—I’ll enjoy it for you.”
Not a moment passed in Bai Ying’s previous life where she didn’t want to kill Ruan Xinrou. Even without her Golden Core, she never gave up. She dared to enter forbidden areas that no one else would, fighting with her life on the line.
She finally cultivated to the Soul Formation Realm, strong enough to kill Ruan Xinrou—only to discover that her own master, the one she had respected like a father, had long planted a heart demon in her. When her heavenly tribulation struck, the heart demon activated. It turned out he had feared she might harm Ruan Xinrou and had secretly marked her for death.
Bai Ying was completely crippled. Plagued by illness like a dying dog, she could only watch helplessly as Ruan Xinrou advanced to the Void Refinement Realm—and finally died with deep regret.
Thankfully, now she had another chance. None of it had happened yet…
Bai Ying clenched her fists tightly and began to cultivate with determination.
In her past life, she had worked so hard to win back the love of her senior brothers—only to be hated by them in the end.
In this life, she no longer cared. All she wanted now was to improve her own cultivation.
Affection could be stolen—but cultivation could not!
…
Meanwhile, Xiao Yu sat calmly at a tea table, sipping tea.
He acted calm and composed, as if everything that had happened today had nothing to do with him.
Even though Bai Ying was seriously injured and being taken away for treatment—many had gone to see her, yet he didn’t.
To him, pretending to care about someone he disliked was disgusting. Now that his goal was achieved, there was no need to concern himself with Bai Ying anymore.
He sipped his tea, trying hard to settle his heart. But for some reason, a deep restlessness stirred within him.
He couldn’t stop seeing the image of Bai Ying being stabbed.
Surely… they were treating her injuries properly?
She’d learned her lesson after this, right? She wouldn’t dare bully Junior Sister Ruan again…
Before long, a few disciples who had gone to watch the drama around Bai Ying returned.
They began recounting everything that had happened, full of excitement.
“You guys wouldn’t believe it—it was incredible.”
“What happened? Tell us!”
“Bai Ying’s been taken to the Cliff of Reflection.”
Xiao Yu froze, his fingers tightening instantly.
He couldn’t believe it.
How was that possible?
He had told himself not to care about Bai Ying anymore. But he couldn’t help but walk over. Even his tone sounded a little rushed.
“Bai Ying was just stabbed… her injuries haven’t healed. How could they take her to the Cliff of Reflection? Didn’t her senior brothers stop them?!”
“Who said they didn’t? But she insisted on going.”
Seeing that it was Xiao Yu, the disciple pulled him close.
“Oh, right, Xiao Yu, I’ve got some good news for you.”
Xiao Yu raised his eyes, puzzled.
The disciple grinned and said, “Bai Ying probably realized she was in the wrong. She actually dispersed her cultivation right then and there, and started cultivating the Emotionless Path.”
“So now, you don’t need to worry about her bothering you anymore. She’s going to become some emotionless freak. She even said herself that she’ll never like you again. You can finally relax!”
