After Severing Her Emotions, the Whole Sect Was Overwhelmed with Grief

Chapter 4:

Chapter 4: She No Longer Wants to Gift It to Him:

The first step to dispersing one’s cultivation was to release all accumulated spiritual power. Over ten years of cultivation were undone in an instant, and the energy released was immense. A wave of scorching air surged out, completely engulfing Bai Ying, forming a giant cocoon around her.

“Senior Brother, you can’t stop her from dispersing her cultivation!” Ruan Xinrou held onto Su Yu tightly, preventing him from rushing forward. “You’ll get hurt!”

“No! I won’t allow this!” Su Yu shouted madly. His Fifth Junior Sister—he had watched her grow up from a little child. From the time she was tiny, he had cradled her in his arms and taken her to play. He had even braided her hair for the first time. Back then, he adored this soft and sweet little girl. She was so different from the mischievous younger brothers. Although he’d messed up her hair terribly, she still smiled brightly and proudly showed everyone, saying her Senior Brother was the best and made her the prettiest braids in the world.

She also said her Senior Brother was different from the others who always made her cry—he was the gentlest one. He had been there for every moment of her growth. When she lost her first tooth and cried in fear, he had held her and tossed the tooth into the sky to comfort her. When she first practiced swordsmanship and couldn’t handle the weight of the sword, he custom-made a lighter and more suitable Treasure Artifact sword for her. He would never forget how she hugged that sword tightly, like a sweet glutinous rice ball, saying she would treasure it for life and always like her Senior Brother.

But now, that affection was disappearing—forced away by his own hands. How could Su Yu possibly accept that?

“No!” Su Yu had never felt such excruciating pain before. His heart felt like it was being shredded, as if it had been pulled out and thrown into hot oil. In his mind, there was a loud snap—something had broken. Beside him, Ruan Xinrou’s face changed.

The once blurry memories suddenly became crystal clear. Su Yu remembered—just a few days ago, he had scolded Bai Ying harshly because she broke Junior Sister’s hairpin. He forced her to apologize and whipped her arm with a cane when she refused. He told her he hated her jealousy and possessiveness, and that everything would be better if she just stopped fighting for attention.

He hadn’t forgotten any of this—but only now did he realize how wrong he had been. Why had he thought his actions were justified? And now? His Fifth Junior Sister really had stopped fighting and stopped caring… and the pain was unbearable.

“Don’t! Bai Ying, don’t!” No matter how loudly Su Yu shouted, Bai Ying’s dispersing of cultivation didn’t stop. When all her cultivation had been released and spiritual energy still lingered, she immediately began cultivating the first level of the Emotionless Path. The Emotionless Path was easy to begin but irreversible once started. As the cultivation progressed, emotions would grow weaker—until they disappeared altogether.

After just reaching the first level, Bai Ying slowly opened her eyes. She saw her Senior Brother reaching out, as if trying to stop her. Her expression was calm and distant as she stepped back, her eyes filled with cold detachment. Su Yu stared at his outstretched, empty hand and felt a deep void in his heart.

He couldn’t believe that Bai Ying had truly dispersed her cultivation and begun anew on the Emotionless Path.

“No…” There had to be a way to make up for this. “Bai Ying, come with me. Let’s beg Master together. He’ll definitely help you restore your cultivation!” Su Yu reached out again, but Bai Ying coldly shook his hand off.

Su Yu stood there in a daze. He suddenly remembered—just a few days ago, when Bai Ying tried to explain that she hadn’t broken Junior Sister’s hairpin, he had shaken her off in the same way. Back then, his attitude was far worse than hers now.

This was the first time Su Yu truly felt how painful it was to be rejected by someone he cared about.

“Take me to the Cliff of Reflection,” Bai Ying said calmly to the members of the Law Enforcement Hall, not even glancing at Su Yu.

Su Yu’s pupils constricted. If Bai Ying was taken away by the Law Enforcement Hall, she could be locked up for months—possibly years. By then, she wouldn’t just be walking the Emotionless Path, she would have completed it.

“No!” Su Yu shouted. He tried to stop her but was blocked by the Law Enforcement Hall disciples.

“According to sect rules, you cannot interfere,” one of them said. Then he turned to Bai Ying. “Hand over all the Treasure Artifacts in your possession. We’ll keep them until your punishment is complete and return them afterward.”

Bai Ying wasn’t carrying any personal artifacts. The ones she had brought were meant as gifts for her senior and junior brothers. She had thought today would be a joyous day and wanted to share her happiness with them.

When she took out a round artifact, she paused for a moment. It was only one step away from completion—destroying it now would be a waste. But she no longer wanted to give it to him…

In an instant, Bai Ying’s gaze turned sharp. Flames burst from her palm, and without a hint of hesitation, she incinerated the artifact in front of her. Everyone’s expression changed on the spot. That artifact was of the highest grade—extremely rare. Just by sensing the spiritual energy it emitted, one could tell how precious its materials were and how much effort had gone into crafting it.

And yet, Bai Ying destroyed it so easily.

Su Yu’s face went completely pale. That artifact… was the gift Bai Ying had prepared for him. He had been waiting for it for a long time.

Back during a sect competition, Su Yu lost to an opponent and had his most treasured sword broken. He was depressed for a long time afterward. Bai Ying heard about it and secretly went to Tianfeng Mountain, where she single-handedly hunted down a Ghost Shark.

Su Yu still remembered how she had risked her life that day. She came back covered in blood and injuries. Though he had scolded her while treating her wounds, she happily held up a Ghost Shark fang and said, “With this, I’ll definitely craft the best artifact for you, Senior Brother. Then you won’t be sad anymore.”

She held that fang tightly, eyes full of hope. “Senior Brother, smile for me, please? You haven’t smiled in so long.”

Su Yu had forced a smile that day, looking at the silly girl in front of him, and his heart ached to the extreme.

The Ghost Shark’s fang was of such high quality that Bai Ying didn’t dare forge it hastily. She spent countless days researching the refining process. He thought it would be a long time before the artifact was completed—yet she was already close to finishing it…

But now, before he ever even touched it, she destroyed it.

Just like she destroyed all the feelings she had poured into it.

All those countless nights, all that meticulous effort, all that affection and care—she discarded it all.

Su Yu’s eyes turned bloodshot as he stared at her. He couldn’t accept this reality.

Bai Ying casually tossed the ruined shards onto the ground, as if they were nothing but trash. Su Yu looked at those fragments and felt like he had fallen into a bottomless abyss. He could barely stay standing.
