After Severing Her Emotions, the Whole Sect Was Overwhelmed with Grief

Chapter 3:

Chapter 3: Severed Feelings

Ruan Xinyou’s words sounded generous, but in just a few sentences, she made Qin Zijin stabbing Bai Ying seem like a minor incident—something not worth fussing over. She even made it sound like Bai Ying should be thankful.

If her body wasn’t so weak, Bai Ying would have given her a big round of applause—for such masterful manipulation.

Before Bai Ying could say anything, her eldest senior brother Su Yu had already decided on her behalf to forgive.

Seeing the people from the Law Enforcement Hall arriving, Su Yu quickly said, “It’s just a small matter between fellow disciples. No need to escalate it. Bai Ying, I’ve already spoken to them for you. Zijin only did it by accident, and since you’ve already forgiven him, there’s no need to punish him.”

Bai Ying looked down at the wound on her chest—just an inch away from piercing her heart.

So this was just a “small matter” between fellow disciples?

They so casually chose forgiveness on her behalf.

These were the senior brothers she had loved with all her heart.

In the past, when they treated her harshly, she had tried so hard to repair their relationship—constantly pleasing them, giving everything she had. But all she got in return was increasing disgust.

They said she was jealous, fake, and ruthless in pursuing her goals. At the time, she only thought she hadn’t done enough.

She never once questioned whether these people were even worth loving.

Now, she wouldn’t be like that ever again.

Just as Su Yu turned to leave after speaking, Bai Ying’s cold voice rang out:
“I do not forgive him. Punish him as he deserves. No favoritism is needed.”

The moment her words left her mouth, everyone froze. Even Su Yu’s footsteps halted.

Everyone stared at her in disbelief.

Qin Zijin shouted, “Bai Ying, are you crazy?! Do you know where they’ll take me? To the Cliff of Reflection!”

The Cliff of Reflection was a place of howling wind and biting snow, lifeless and barren. The wind cut like knives. No one could endure such a place.

Panicking, Qin Zijin grabbed Bai Ying’s wrist, hoping to make her change her mind.

He pleaded, “Senior Sister, kind Senior Sister, I really didn’t mean to! Please, forgive me! You know I’m terrified of places like that!”

In the past, whenever Qin Zijin made mistakes, he always begged like this.

As long as he pleaded, no matter what he did wrong, Bai Ying would forgive him.

But now, Bai Ying wasn’t moved at all.

Her heart was filled with nothing but cold mockery.

Afraid?

Did he forget that she had once gone to the Cliff of Reflection for him?

When he was younger, he made a grave mistake. Terrified of the punishment, he cried to Bai Ying for help.

Back then, she had no idea how to help him.

So Qin Zijin came up with a terrible idea—he begged her to take the blame and be punished in his place.

That bastard never once considered that she was also young, just a girl, yet he asked her to go to that bitterly cold, deadly place.

Wasn’t she afraid?

And yet, she had still agreed.

She couldn’t bear to see her junior brother cry.

She only wanted him to always be happy.

Bai Ying endured three months of suffering alone on the Cliff of Reflection, weakening her body permanently.

She had truly given Qin Zijin her heart and soul.

But after Ruan Xinyou arrived, he was the first to turn against her and stand by Ruan’s side.

This time, she would not forgive him again.

Bai Ying fiercely shook off Qin Zijin’s hand and said firmly to the Law Enforcement Hall, “Take him away. I will never forgive him!”

Qin Zijin stared at her, wide-eyed, unable to believe it.

His face twisted between shock and anger—but what showed most was pain.

Bai Ying… how could she treat him like this?

He shouted, flustered, “Didn’t I already apologize? What more do you want?!”

“Senior Sister,” Ruan Xinyou quickly stepped in, her tone gentle. “Senior Sister, why be so petty? Sixth Junior Brother was wrong to hurt you, but we all saw what happened—it was you who attacked first. If you hadn’t tried to hurt Senior Brother Xiao, Sixth Junior Brother wouldn’t have stabbed you.”

In just a few words, Ruan Xinyou shifted all the blame to Bai Ying.

As if Bai Ying was the one who started everything.

Bai Ying looked at her as if hearing the funniest joke in the world. “Then let him stab you with a sword. Oh—make sure it’s just an inch away from your heart. Then you can tell me again how you’re so willing to forgive him.”

Her words made the whole place fall silent.

Even those who had wanted to scold Bai Ying earlier shut their mouths.

Su Yu, too, suddenly seemed to realize the severity of the matter.

That’s right…

That sword had nearly killed Bai Ying!

Just one inch more and Fifth Junior Sister Junior Sister would be dead.

Even if she was at fault, it wasn’t worth her life.

Why hadn’t he realized that before?

Now Su Yu began to feel real fear. His expression darkened as he turned a stern gaze toward Qin Zijin.

“Fifth Junior Sister really was badly hurt. Sixth Junior Brother, you’d better remember this. Even if you wanted to protect Xiao Yu, you shouldn’t have struck so hard.”

Then he turned to Ruan Xinyou.

“Junior Sister, I know you care about Sixth Junior Brother, but he truly crossed the line this time. Don’t defend him anymore.”

But then Su Yu changed his tone.

“Fifth Junior Sister, even though Sixth Junior Brother made a mistake—weren’t you also in the wrong? Don’t forget, all of this started because you were jealous of our affection for Junior Sister. You disrupted her birthday banquet and even tried to drug Xiao Yu with that pill. If we’re talking about who made the bigger mistake, it’s you. Sixth Junior Brother will be punished, and so will you…”

Su Yu only wanted both sides to admit fault so they could all avoid the Cliff of Reflection.

But before he could finish, Bai Ying raised her head. Her eyes were cold and sharp.

“If all of you believe I’m wrong…  If you think I was jealous of Junior Sister, that I was delusional about Xiao Yu… Then I’ll disperse all my cultivation, sever all emotions, and practice the Emotionless Path. That way, you’ll all feel safe again. I will no longer love Xiao Yu. Nor will I fight for the affection you give to Junior Sister.”

Before anyone could respond, Bai Ying began dispersing her cultivation on the spot.

She remembered her past life—how she tried so hard to defend herself, to prove she was innocent.

But no one ever believed her.

Now, she no longer wished to explain herself to people who would never trust her.

At that moment, everyone was stunned.

Especially Su Yu—who had just tried to smooth things over—he felt like he had been struck by lightning.

He never imagined she would actually destroy her cultivation and start over.

The Emotionless Path wasn’t some powerful technique.

Anyone who cultivated it would sever their emotional ties, becoming cold-hearted, devoid of love.

Because they had no emotions, they wouldn’t be distracted by the mortal world and could focus purely on cultivation—progressing faster than most.

But that was all—it was only slightly faster.

So even though the sect had this technique, no one ever chose to cultivate it.

Su Yu’s whole body was trembling as he rushed forward to stop her—but was instantly blocked by a powerful force.
