Chapter 161 End of the Road, Dagger Emerges
```
As the Pioneer Corps and the Qilin Group headed toward the Teleportation Portal, Xiao Buli was also surveying the situation in the room, assessing the likelihood of success if he took action there.
There were a total of four security guards in the room, all of whom appeared to be formidable figures. Positioned at the four corners of the room, their calm gazes locked onto all the blind spots. Their weapons were handguns, which, up to this point, still posed a significant threat to players like him.
The five members of the Qilin Group were undoubtedly very powerful in combat. However, since they were focused on the game, there might be a few seconds of delay in their reaction time if he struck, but that was it.
Once they reacted, their combined firepower was likely to be terrifyingly strong, too much for anyone to withstand their joint attack, unless they were only formidable within the game and didn't possess their in-game abilities in reality, which was almost impossible.
Among these five, besides Zhang Biao and Wang Lei, who had already demonstrated their strength, and Yan Zhong, whose capabilities were indiscernible as he had not made a move, the other two were a female assassin wielding a one-handed sword and a dagger, who seemed to have a part-time job in the magic system professions, and was even capable of Earth Escape.
This female assassin was named Dian Lan, who would occasionally lick her lips while playing the game, giving off a somewhat neurotic vibe.
The other one was a peculiar individual dressed in beast skins and wearing a wolf-head armor, using gauntlets as weapons, but with a blue mana bar beneath his health bar. He seemed to be a Mage Profession as well, leading Xiao Buli to surmise that he might be a Shaman-type profession. This person was called Lin Beifeng, who always hid at the back of the team.
Last was Dugu Han. Xiao Buli had always felt that this guy must be one of the tough ones, akin to a Breeder from "Infinite Horror," especially since he had the economic and equipment support of an entire company backing him, which likely made him much more powerful than an average player.
But now, he seemed somewhat like a paper tiger, not displaying any of the strength he should have, which was quite puzzling.
No matter how he looked at it, the people in the room were beyond his ability to deal with, but Xiao Buli had his own plan that didn't require a head-on confrontation. Thus, he wasn't nervous at all, simply calculating the time in his mind while slowly moving his feet to find the right position, quietly waiting for the right moment to act.
With Zhang Biao and Wang Lei—holding the Divine Artifacts—the team continued to advance smoothly, not knowing how many of the Demon Clan they had killed on their way to the Teleportation Portal. Just when they were about to reach it, a disturbance suddenly erupted from outside.
Dugu Han immediately tensed up, picked up the microphone of the communicator, and asked, "Hey, how's it going outside? Can you hold them back?"
A panicked voice from the security guard came through the communicator along with the sound of gunfire. "Boss, it's no good, there are so many creatures, we can't hold them off—ah!" A scream cut off the brief exchange.
Damn it, what a bunch of useless fools! Dugu Han cursed inwardly but couldn't ignore the situation. If the outside was breached, they wouldn't be able to hold out here either. He pushed the door open into an inner compartment, seeming to open some sort of safe, and actually pulled out a couple of sawed-off shotguns.
He tossed one to each of the two security guards at the entrance.
"Daniu, Erhu, you two go out and help. You must block them!"
```
"Understood, boss. The two bodyguards agreed and went out to open the door,"
As the automatic door hissed shut, sealing everyone back inside once more,
Daniu and Erhu did not really go by those names. They had their own names, but like many in their profession, they needed a certain level of secrecy. To make it easier for their employers to distinguish them, they had adopted these simple and somewhat foolish sounding names.
The two were no novices to the bodyguard business. Having worked in this field for seven or eight years, they had faced all sorts of dangers, but this was the first time they encountered something as strange as this. Despite their extensive experience, they were still nervous about whether they would make it through this time,
Fortunately, they both remembered the bodyguard's code: do not inquire about the employer's private affairs, just focus on the task at hand.
Armed with shotguns, they entered the lobby only to be stunned by the sight in front of them. Swarms of Demon Clan members were pouring in, and the remaining security guards were desperately firing from behind makeshift barricades made of office desks and writing tables. The ground was littered with corpses; monsters, security guards, and players alike.
Due to most of the Pioneer Corps members being inside playing the game, there were not many formidable figures left outside. While they did possess some superpowers, they were no match for the high-ranking experts of the Pioneer Corps.
Seeing people being cut down one after another, the two hurriedly joined the battle. Daniu took the lead, raising his shotgun and pulled the trigger without hesitation at a Demon Clan member rushing towards him, claws bared, seeking to engage in close combat.
Despite already having taken two bullets, the creature hadn't fallen, but this time a direct spray knocked it to the ground, its black carapace shattered, instantly dead.
A shotgun is no pea shooter. The two took down several Demon Clan members in quick succession, but the situation was spiraling out of control. Daniu quickly turned on the communicator.
"It's no use, boss, we're too few to hold them off!"
"Hold on a bit longer, it'll be fine soon. I'm sending a few members from the Pioneer Corps to help you!"
Suddenly, the door of the adjacent computer room burst open, and several members of the Pioneer Corps charged out. Their addition to the battlefield instantly turned the tide.
They were all adept at using superpowers, with some launching fireballs that left the Demon Clan scalded and seared, others swinging fire axes and cleaving through the Demon Clan's defenses, and still others chanting spells over the corpses on the ground, which then rose up and attacked the surrounding Demon Clan members.
Though the reanimated corpses weren't strong—easily dispatched with a single blow—they provided a delay, helping to turn the tide.
In mere moments, they scored a resounding victory, and as the remnants of the Demon Clan started to flee, a few more people attacked from behind, with one brandishing the Three-foot Green Blade, slashing sword qi fiercely, cutting through the Demon Clan as easily as chopping vegetables.
Behind him followed two bald strongmen in army coats, expressionless yet displaying terrifying strength as they effortlessly dispatched any Demon Clan member they encountered.
Daniu and Erhu watched, eyes wide and mouths agape, thinking to themselves, "Good lord, are these even human?"

However, one person had yet to lift a finger, walking calmly through the throng and past the scattered corpses into the lobby. He looked around excitedly, and upon seeing him, the members of the Pioneer Corps quickly gathered around. "Boss, you're finally here. Did everything go smoothly?" Wu Tao asked first.
Zhang Yaoyang nodded, "It went very smoothly, now everything is ready except for the East Wind."
As he spoke, his gaze fell upon the security guards around him.
"Thank heavens, we finally won." A guard sighed with relief and opened his communicator, "Boss, it's temporarily safe outside."
After speaking, the guard glanced at the superpower users, still feeling terrified, and said to his companion, "We really owe these guys big time for this one."
"Indeed, if it weren't for these guys helping us, we would've been goners this time."
The two looked around only to discover that most of the security guards had died in the chaotic battle that just happened, leaving less than ten of them.
At that moment, a superpower user approached them; the guard recognized this was the guy who liked to shout "Adugen" when throwing a punch,
"Thank you so much." He expressed his sincere gratitude.
"What are you thanking for, we're all in this together, aren't we? There's no need to thank." The man said with a grin, patting his shoulder, when suddenly he felt numbness coursing through his body, and he could no longer move...
By the time Wu Tao sealed the acupoints of the third guard, someone finally realized something was wrong.
The third guard abruptly dodged back the moment he was about to pat his shoulder, watching him warily, "What are you doing?"
Wu Tao thought, it seems like it's time for a hard fight.
"What are you waiting for, attack now!" he shouted, and Daniu and Erhu were shocked to find, almost simultaneously, the superpower users began to attack them.
At the same time:
"Alright, it's temporarily safeguarded outside; how about you guys, have you found the Teleportation Portal?"
Dugu Han asked, while walking behind the screens of several people.
"We found it, boss, take a look over here, this should be the Teleportation Portal,"
Yan Zhong pointed at an entrance on the screen that was emanating a blue glow, swirling like a vortex.
There were dozens of Demon Clan members guarding the Teleportation Portal, but defeat seemed inevitable, especially since they were up against the Qilin Group.
"Haha, that's great, destroy it quickly, and then we've won."
Xiao Buli also had been monitoring their screens attentively, and as he looked at the Teleportation Portal, a thought suddenly came to him, what would happen if a character from the game world crossed through the Teleportation Portal?
This thought was so tangled that it lingered persistently for a while, and he quickly envisioned a few possibilities—The first was that there would be another person identical to him in this world, and that he could control this person's actions like a robot, but he soon dismissed this possibility.
The second possibility was that he himself would gain all the abilities, memories, and equipment from the game—though he guessed that he probably wouldn't be able to enter the game again afterward.
Of course, there were other possibilities, such as the character gaining self-control upon arrival and becoming an independent entity, or possibly, he would die straight away...
In any case, without experimentation, it was impossible to confirm.
It was a pity that his character was not nearby, otherwise, he could have let Maoqiu give it a try. He said to himself with a sigh.
