Chapter 160: The Strength of Qilin Group_2
Two police officers immediately ran over and flanked Situ Yu, one on each side. Although Situ Yu didn't know what was going on, she could see that Director Zhou was serious. She stamped her foot in frustration but could only follow the officers.
Meanwhile:
As Xiao Buli followed Dugu Han into the room, he felt quite nervous. He tried to appear calm and took a quick glance around once inside. The room turned out to be a comfortably furnished independent computer room, with about ten computers that obviously had better configurations than the ones outside. There were five people operating the computers, four men and one woman, not wearing a uniform. However, Xiao Buli had already guessed their identity—the Qilin Group.
("Five people, just as I expected," Xiao Buli thought to himself.)
"Boss, is there a problem?" a gloomy-looking young man stood up and asked Dugu Han.
Dugu Han nodded, "There's a very important matter, and now I'll have to rely on you all."
"Just give us your orders."
Dugu Han nodded with some emotion, "Good, very good. I didn't cultivate you all for nothing. Let me introduce you. This is Xiao Buli from the Green Dragon Group; he's the one who came up with the plan for this operation. This is Yan Zhong, the leader of the Qilin Group."
Yan Zhong gave Xiao Buli a look and nodded slightly at him, but his eyes seemed somewhat disdainful.
Xiao Buli just smiled and didn't say anything.
Dugu Han briefly explained the situation and Xiao Buli's plan to everyone.
"The only problem now is, do you have the strength to clear out the Demon Clan from Thousand Pines Town, so that the Pioneer Corps players can log back in?" Dugu Han finally asked.
Yan Zhong nodded, "There shouldn't be a problem. I have dealt with the Demon Clan before. It might be difficult for average players, but for us, it's really not a big deal."
After saying this, he turned back to the others and nodded, "Guys, let's get to work."
After that, he sat back down at the computer and logged into the game. Xiao Buli caught a glimpse, the man was wearing a robe and holding a magic wand, apparently one of the Mage Professions.
When Xiao Buli wanted to look at the other screens, Dugu Han tapped his shoulder and pointed towards the bar at the other end of the room, "You wait over there for now. I'll call you if there's anything."
Xiao Buli couldn't help feeling a bit disappointed but didn't show it, nodding and walking over to pour himself a coffee with two sugar cubes, slowly sipping it.
The few people were all wearing headphones, so he couldn't hear the sounds of the game, let alone know what they were doing at the moment. He could only guess from the occasional commands issued by the gloomy-faced young man that they seemed to be on their way to Thousand Pines Town.
"Biao, go pull the mobs, try to delay a bit, Lei Zi get ready for mob clearing."
"Alright! I'm starting to cast now," a bespectacled young man replied, his thin fingers moving rapidly on the keyboard—a clear indication of a high APM player.
The mob clearing seemed to be going smoothly. Dugu Han stood behind their screens, nodding continuously, "Nice work, well done. Someone, get the Pioneer Corps to log in."
As Dugu Han spoke, he waved at Xiao Buli, who quickly walked over and was surprised at a glance. Scorched bodies were everywhere, easily over a hundred. Clearly, the Demon Clan left to defend Thousand Pines Town weren't many, but it would have been enough to give Xiao Buli and his team a hard time. But this operation had been cleared by the Qilin Group in just a few minutes, which was way too fast!
He couldn't help but look at them in astonishment. Seemingly sensing his gaze, Yan Zhong snorted coldly at him with pride.
Xiao Buli couldn't help but laugh, "Do you think having great power means you have nothing to fear? Such naive fellows."
As white lights flashed, the Pioneer Corps players logged in at Thousand Pines Town, and seeing the corpses on the ground, they couldn't help but express their admiration in surprise.
Dugu Han casually picked up the microphone. "Alright, enough talk, this operation is truly a matter of life and death, and no one better screw up. Is the leader of the Pioneer Corps here?"
No one answered, and Dugu Han couldn't help feeling a bit irritated. "What about the deputy leader of the Pioneer Corps?"
Xiao Buli casually mentioned from behind, "That Li Jian was the deputy leader, the one I took out."
Yan Zhong seemed taken aback and looked at Xiao Buli with some surprise.
"Damn, that's some bad luck. Well then, one of you will have to step up and act as the leader for now."
Wu Tao said, "I'll do it, I was class monitor in primary school, and I've been a deputy team leader when playing games. I'm the best at commanding on the fly."
However, Dugu Han could tell this guy was the one who had been disagreeing with him earlier and was immediately put off. "Not him, the one in the Taoist robe, Hua Yueying, it's up to you."
"Fine, I'll reluctantly take the job," Hua Yueying said, unwillingly.
"Everyone follow that warrior called Zhang Biao," Dugu Han instructed.
Xiao Buli glanced at the screen. That Zhang Biao should be the Biao previously mentioned by Yan Zhong, a warrior wielding a Two-Handed Sword. Strangely, he was surrounded by a golden glow, obviously the effect of Divine Arts, and it appeared he had some training in other professions.
The group followed Zhang Biao and charged out of the town, and as soon as they left, they saw a large number of the Demon Clan rushing over, probably drawn by the earlier battle.
"Lei Zi, we're counting on you!"
The bespectacled man stepped forward, pointing his Magic Wand towards the sky, instantly causing dark clouds to churn and thunder to roar.
(Is it the Summoning of the Thundercloud Storm? It seems a bit different.) Xiao Buli thought to himself, noting that the expanse of thunderclouds was clearly much larger than what the Thunder Summoner of the Iron Blood Brotherhood had previously conjured, and the flashes of lightning were more frequent. Zhang Biao held off the frontline for a moment until Wang Lei suddenly yelled, "Here it comes!"
Brilliant golden light flashed on Zhang Biao's body, enveloping him like a giant Buddha.
"Look, that's the Vajra Avatar of the Martial Monk! What the hell is his real profession? He knows this move too," Wu Tao exclaimed in shock from the crowd.
In the next moment, countless bolts of lightning rained down like a downpour from within the thunderclouds, charring many of the Demon Clan that were swarming around Zhang Biao into cinders, yet Zhang Biao at the core of the Thundercloud Storm remained unscathed.
Xiao Buli watched, astonished, thinking that this was ridiculously overpowering!
The thunderclouds finally dispersed, and most of the demons in front of them were dead or injured.
"I'm out of mana, you guys take care of the rest," Wang Lei said as he ran to the back to replenish his mana. Zhang Biao also retreated, while the few from Qilin Group stayed back to conserve their strength.
Dugu Han shouted at the Pioneer Corps members who were still in shock, "What are you waiting for? Get moving!"
The group finally snapped out of it and surged forward, launching a fierce attack on the remaining Demon Clan, quickly taking out the rest of the enemies.
"That's the way, keep up the pace!" Dugu Han seemed to see the hope for victory and shouted excitedly.
After replenishing their mana, Qilin Group and the Pioneer Corps regrouped and made another push towards the Teleportation Portal. Dugu Han's phone, however, started ringing incessantly, and he answered it with impatience. After a moment, his expression soured.
"Liu, you're like a brother to me, please try to buy me some more time. What? They're about to burst in? No, no, listen, Liu, the Teleportation Portal is located somewhere downstairs, I can cut it off from this side any minute now, and then we'll have a fully intact Teleportation Portal." He blurted out his plea in a fluster, but Liu Zijian on the other end seemed to understand.
Seeming to have received a favorable response, Dugu Han visibly relaxed.
After ending the call, his face showed a trace of resolve. He grabbed the microphone and commanded fiercely, "Everyone, work harder, we aim to destroy the Teleportation Portal within half an hour."
