Chapter 193: Tomb
"Ye Zi, you really guessed it right!"
Liu Qingqing's face showed no fear, instead, she seemed quite excited, and this excitement was also apparent in Ai Bing and Luo Xin, the two other women.
Zhang Ye looked up again, Chen Xiaoyong had disappeared, probably having run away through the outside safety passage.
In his field of vision, more and more zombies began to crawl out of the boxes.
"Is the power cut off already?"
He turned his head and asked.
Luo Xin immediately uttered a sound of agreement.
She had stealthily searched for the power valve for a long time, only to find that the wires connecting the various cages and containers eventually all led outside.
Clearly, the generator and transformer were outside.
The three of them had been busy for half a day and had only managed to add less than a third of the zombies to the employee roster, while those unaccounted-for roaming undead were the ones waking up in the boxes.
Right now, only about a dozen had run outside to chase after Peng Yue and the others.
The rest were still trapped in the boxes.
What did this mean?
The corners of Zhang Ye's mouth lifted slightly, and with a thought, the zombies gathered around the three of them split off and blocked those that were about to run out.
Then Liu Qingqing immediately dashed over to add those zombies, still not free and in a captured state, to the employee roster.
Ai Bing and Luo Xin weren't idle either, leading a few zombies to start "recruiting" for the company.
The four of them moved very fast.
Almost before the zombies could climb out of the cages, their names were already on the company's employee list, and they were then uniformly assigned to the security department.
And those zombies that had gained freedom and were searching for prey hadn't even had the chance to react before they were overwhelmed by the "traitors" and pushed to the ground, followed by a man who came over with a smile and patted their dog-like heads.
"Not bad."
"You look fairly strong."
"Then you'll definitely be useful screwing bolts in the factory."
Peng Yue's people had already reached the exit.
Indeed, there was a gap in the door, but it was padlocked, looking as though it had just been recently put on.
No need to think too hard, it was definitely Chen Xiaoyong's doing!
About a dozen zombies had already surrounded them from all sides, and once they gathered into a horde, their seemingly foolish behavior suddenly became cunning.
Watching their companions' heads get smashed into pulp, the remaining zombies immediately scattered in all directions.
They then took advantage of their physical superiority to weave through the nearby cluttered rooms.
Like a pack of wolves, they looked for the prey's weak point.
The narrow space and distance allowed these survivors, who were accustomed to fighting zombies on a regular basis, to feel panic that they hadn't experienced for a long time, even though they were armed with guns.
Seven or eight people fired haphazardly at the shadows darting between the shelves and containers for quite some time.
In the end, they only killed three zombies that tried to seize the opportunity to pounce.
Then the gunfire suddenly stopped.
It was time to reload.
Peng Liu hadn't had the chance to curse at his men for not following orders before he saw several shadows pounce from between the shelves in an instant.
He quickly twisted his body to dodge, while the two people beside him were pressed down to the ground.
In an instant, their chests were torn open, and flesh and blood blurred together.
The screams, like an abruptly sounded alarm, plunged the people blocked at the door into instant panic, with many of their hands holding guns beginning to shake.
Peng Yue walked up with a dark expression and fired two shots at the ground.
The bullets instantly pierced the zombie's head.
In the moment the body stopped moving, another roar came from the front of the crowd, "Move aside! Why don't I just blow it up with one shot?"
The crowd hastily took a few steps back to see Peng Si already holding his shotgun to the padlock.
Bang—
A loud explosion.
Immediately after, something clattered to the ground.
"The lock is open! The lock is open!"
"Everybody, move quickly!"
Soon, there were cheers, and the people nearest to the door hurriedly pulled it open, while those behind scrambled together in a mess to rush outside.
Peng Yue was left at the very back, and only after everyone else had gone out did he turn his head to look behind him.
This casual glance tightened his scalp in fright.
He saw Zhang Ye running toward him with three women who, in his eyes, were nothing but burdens. Behind them, a dense crowd of corpses surged forward like a tide.
Peng Yue instinctively glanced around at the shelves and boxes.
Indeed, they were all empty.
The horde of corpses had come out.
Strangely, the four people did not seem to have much fear or panic on their faces.
If one looked closely, they would realize that they were not running away but leisurely jogging toward them.
"Director Zhang!"
"Get over here quickly!"
"Let's close this door together!"
Peng Yue, anxious, hurriedly called out to urge them.
When the four finally arrived, he immediately tried to close the warehouse back door but was stopped by Zhang Ye who grabbed him.
"What does this mean?"
Peng Yue's face suddenly darkened.
He turned his head to look at Zhang Ye, only to see a meaningful smile in the other's eyes.
"Listen to me."
"We don't need to close this door."
Not close the door?
Wouldn't that let the zombies out?
Peng Yue was stunned on the spot, instinctively feeling that the other man had gone mad, but Zhang Ye's expression did not seem like that of a crazed lunatic.
But before he could ask for clarification, a dark shadow had already lunged at the two of them!
"Fuck!"
He instinctively wanted to dodge.
But it seemed to be too late.
At this moment, countless curses flashed through Peng Yue's mind; could he really be dying like this?
But the next second, the shadow had already brushed past him.
More zombies followed, rushing out.
All of them ignored the two men.
Overtaken by shock, Peng Yue leaned against the wall with a smack, relying on this support to prevent his legs from collapsing beneath him.
He watched dumbfounded as one zombie after another ran out of the warehouse.
None of them showing any intention to attack the four.
What was going on?
Just as Peng Yue's head was swelling with the need to ask Zhang Ye, he suddenly heard intense gunshots near him!
They were coming from the front of the crowd!
Chen Xiaoyong?
Peng Yue's mind suddenly understood.
He didn't have time to consider the situation at hand and hurried toward the direction of the sounds. There, he saw more than a dozen cars parked behind a circle of wire fence, with several guns protruding from the vehicles, aimed at the people trying to break out.
The members of the car convoy, who thought they had escaped to safety, were suddenly thrown into chaos.
Caught completely off guard, four or five were shot dead by the random gunfire.
The rest hurriedly took cover wherever they could.
But when they looked back, the horde of corpses that should have been trapped in the warehouse had somehow caught up to them, with the leading zombie less than ten meters from the crowd.
Chen had never planned to trap them in the warehouse from the beginning!
This was where their graves would be.
