Chapter 192: You Go First, I'll Cover the Rear
If they couldn't go up, then there was no need to waste time here.
Delay could bring trouble.
This place was chosen by Chen Xiaoyong.
Now that they were inside, there were only a few people present.
Possible?
It was clear there was a problem.
If it wasn't for the sake of the third brother, Peng Yue would have been ready to leave the moment he entered.
But just as he was about to signal to his convoy to retreat from the entrance, there suddenly came a loud clanging noise from behind.
Right after that, several screams could be heard from outside, along with the distinct sound of metal clashing. It was obvious something had gone wrong.
"It's not good, Brother Yue!"
"The main door we came in through has been locked from the outside!"
A person immediately came running from behind the crowd, shouting in panic.
Upon hearing this news, everyone else was instantly both shocked and furious. If the door was locked, didn't that mean they were all trapped now?
And Chen Xiaoyong, who had remained silent and allowed everyone to hurl insults, finally revealed a smile that was unspeakably smug.
"You've all arrived, so why the rush to leave?"
"There's still a gift I haven't had the chance to give out."
As he spoke, he gestured to one of his subordinates, who immediately ran over and pressed a switch.
The lights on the ceiling instantly illuminated every corner of the warehouse.
This startled Zhang Ye and his three comrades, who were secretly gathering troops in the dark.
Dammit.
What's the point of turning on the lights all of a sudden?
Zhang Ye's current position was right next to a huge object covered with a black tarp, and the moment the light hit, it exposed his location.
But when Chen Xiaoyong saw the silhouettes that appeared next to the containers, he merely smiled and showed no alarm.
Instead, his expression became more scornful.
So what if you see it?
Too late.
Amidst the grating sound, the hoist slowly lifted.
As the long black tarp gradually receded, a huge iron cage starkly appeared before everyone's eyes!
"Mu, mutants!?"
Someone quickly recognized the creature in the cage, and their face twisted with terror.
These mutants were incredibly strong, capable of overturning trucks.
In this city devoid of any heavy firearms and equipment, it was invincible.
Anyone meeting it would certainly suffer heavy casualties.
The convoy was no exception.
Seeing this, Zhang Ye also hastily pretended to back away in utmost fear, when suddenly a few loud laughs came from above.
"How about it?"
"Peng Yue, do you like the gift I sent you?"
Before Peng Yue could respond, more hoists were lifting tarps, revealing the hellish scene beneath.
Layers of zombies were crammed together like chunks of meat pressed into each other.
Countless arms and legs struggled and twisted like water plants stretching out.
Low, moaning sounds had, for some reason, already filled everyone's eardrums.
Strangely, these zombies' behaviors were somewhat abnormal.
They seemed to be still alive but showed none of the usual restlessness; instead, they appeared somewhat well-behaved and even "quiet."
Even so, this still scared Peng Yue and his men quite a bit.
They had calculated everything except that Chen Xiaoyong never intended to fight them head-on but had instead trapped a horde of zombies in the warehouse.
In such narrow conditions, once the horde of zombies broke out—
The consequences were unimaginable.
Peng Yue finally began to feel afraid and quickly looked to Zhang Ye.
He wanted the people outside to come in directly without waiting.
Otherwise, it wouldn't be about dealing with Chen Xiaoyong soon, but rather how those inside were going to make it out alive.
But Zhang Ye just gave him a reassuring look.
Don't panic.
He was still there.
Chen Xiaoyong saw that the effect he wanted had been achieved; terror was evident on every face below, clearly indicating that panic had set in.
Especially the Peng family brothers—they were like ants on a hot pot, frantically scurrying about, wishing they had wings to fly up there.
Panic, panic!
The Peng family brothers were in a panic!
They definitely hadn't anticipated that they wouldn't actually have to fight!
With that thought, Chen Xiaoyong felt even more smug in his heart.
He looked at the people below with eyes full of disdain.
A family of uncouth brutes, dare to compete with him?
While enjoying his sense of superiority, he did not forget to continue provoking the enemies below:
"You're looking for Peng San, aren't you?"
"There, that's him, the one wearing the checkered short-sleeve shirt."
After Peng Si mustered the courage to go and check, only to return cursing when he found it wasn't him, Chen Xiaoyong pretended to be startled and said:
"Ah, my mistake!"
"What I meant was, it's those several zombies that have eaten your brother."
"Aren't there a few bones left on the ground?"
"Don't you want to take a look?"
Peng Yue struggled to suppress the rage and terror in his heart, his eyes constantly scanning the surroundings, trying to find an exit from this place.
Right in front of them was the warehouse rear door.
It was just that the light had been too dim before, so it wasn't discovered until now.
It seemed there was still a sliver of light coming through.
They might be able to escape!
Peng Yue no longer cared what Chen Xiaoyong was rambling about; he immediately ordered:
"That way, go!"
"Quick!"
But before his subordinates could respond, the iron cages around them began to stir, and a zombie that looked like a mummy stumbled out of a container.
"It's not good, Brother Yue!"
"Those boxes seem to be unsealed!"
As if to prove the truth of this person's words,
within merely a couple of seconds, several more zombies clumsily climbed out of their cages, some of which were right on the path to the exit ahead.
Peng Yue's heart sunk instantly, and he quickly alerted everyone to be wary of their surroundings while rushing towards the exit.
In the chaos, he seemed to see Chen Xiaoyong above them wearing a gloating smile with the walkie-talkie just dropping from his mouth.
The power was already turned off.
Because of the high-voltage electricity, the paralyzed horde of zombies would naturally wake up.
The few zombies that first crawled out of the cages happened to be the "unemployed vagrants" Zhang Ye hadn't gotten around to adding to the employee list.
"Bang!"
A head burst open in an instant.
The zombie's body flew backward the moment its head was struck by a bullet.
"Don't panic!"
"Just keep running forward!"
Zhang Ye saw the flicker of panic in Peng Yue's eyes and immediately gave him a shot of reassurance:
"Leave this to me!"
"Go!"
As he spoke, from a container less than five meters away, a series of low growls could be heard, and suddenly five or six zombies dropped out.
Peng Yue nodded and without a word ran towards the exit.
It wasn't that he trusted Zhang Ye.
Rather, he was very aware that even if he stayed, it would be of no use.
The most pressing matter now was to leave this hellish place as quickly as possible!
While there weren't many zombies emerging yet, it would be too late to leave if they waited any longer!
Zhang Ye, seeing his resolute departure, was somewhat lost for words.
You could at least show some concern, right?
What if I died?
But on second thought, if he really did die, it would truly be a double celebration for Peng Yue.
Liu Qingqing and Ai Bing had already come over to him, and about a dozen blood-covered zombies were surrounding them.
