Chapter 2: [2 - Trauma and White-Haired Kind Girl]
If you like the fan-fic please leave some reviews :) They help me a lot actually.
How many girls from the World would be suitable for a harem? I currently have... 5 People in mind. and that's already a lot... there are still hi3,hsr, gi ,zzz(maybe??), and lastly fate(I don't plan to add someone from this world maybe only alter Artoria and Tiamat (I love dragons okay?). besides that no one else)
Of course, those relationships will take lots of time to develop. Don't expect a fast relationship from me. I have no girlfriend lol and I want to make it smooth as much as possible. But yeah, It depends on how Renli wants his harem, not me.
Anyway, I yap a lot. Please enjoy :) I think I did a good job in this chapter, leave your thoughts in the comments. (It became YouTube)

Renli did not know how long he had been sleeping, but he eventually woke up and was greeted by a ceiling that looked like it was barely holding itself together.
The wood was clearly breaking, with a few tiny pieces falling to the sides of the house.
While he needed to be suspicious, even vigilant, in this type of situation, Renli did not do either. His gaze was blank, the light in his eyes nowhere to be seen.
Normally, he had light in his eyes despite staying five entire days in the slums after his parents abandoned him, holding onto the last bit of hope, thinking this was their way of showing love.
But after the bloodshed he caused, whether by accident or not, he was smacked with the harsh truth. Or perhaps he had known it since the time he opened his eyes in the slums but didn't want to believe such a thing.
After all, his parents had always given him the best of things he wanted—food, clothes, or toys. But most importantly, they had always given him such loving looks, full of love and care.
But now, he knew. He embraced the harsh truth. They abandoned him—his own parents. The same people who gave birth to him and raised him with such love.
Because of a power he didn't even want.
It was harsh and painful, but full of truth-filled words.
"Ren~! Good job~! Come to Mama~"
"What?! No, Ren! Come to Papa~!"
He couldn't help but start sobbing again, remembering those painful memories as he covered his eyes with his right hand. But while he sobbed, no tears came—or rather, they couldn't.
He had cried for hours in that dark alley, his body left without any water for an entire five days. That much crying had drained him of any form of water, and the only reason he was still alive was because of his Tacet Mark's adaptation, which he somehow instinctively knew.
He hated it, yet was grateful for this power—just like how he hated his parents, yet still had love for them in his heart.
The soft cracking sound of the wooden door made Renli break out of his train of thought as he flinched for a brief moment, forgetting where he was because of the overwhelming flood of his own emotions.
Removing his right hand from his eyes, he got up from the bed—if it could even be called that, as it was just a bunch of hay stacked together. Regardless, it was quite comfy, making Renli think that the girl had put quite a bit of effort and time into making it.
"Ah...! You're awake! Thank Sentinel Jue!" The girl exclaimed with a small hint of surprise and relief in her tone. Her voice was surprisingly pleasing to Renli's ears.
"..."
Renli, of course, did not say anything as he looked blankly towards the girl and the soup in her hand.
The soup looked more like water than an actual soup, but since the girl seemed to have no problem with it, Renli also didn't mind.
"You must be hungry, right? Your lips were so dry, and I heard your stomach grumbling while you were asleep," the girl said with a soft giggle as if she found the situation funny. She placed the soup on a wooden table a few steps away from the hay bed Renli was sitting on.
At her remark, a faint blush formed on Renli's face as he lowered his head to cover it, but he was too late—the girl saw it and giggled even more.
"What's your name? Mine is Jinshi." The girl, now named Jinshi, spoke with expectation-filled eyes as she extended her tender hand. Some places on her hand were covered with bandages, but she looked perfectly fine, showing no signs of pain.
"..."
Looking at Jinshi's expectant eyes and extended hand, Renli found himself unable to refuse her. Something about her drew him in. Perhaps it was the act of kindness he received from her—after all, except for his parents, no one here had shown him kindness like Jinshi. All of them had somewhat dangerous motives.
"You can call me Renli, or Ren for short if you want." Renli finally said, holding the girl's extended hand with his left hand.
Warm and smooth... Renli couldn't help but think as he felt the girl's hand. He still couldn't trust her—it was impossible, and Jinshi probably knew this—but neither of them minded or brought it up.
The warmth he felt from Jinshi's hand reminded him of home and those good times, but he quickly wiped away those thoughts. He felt like the more he thought about it, the more he would suffer.
After some time, both of them retracted their hands, and an awkward silence followed.
"..."
"..."
Neither spoke for a few moments, the only sounds being an owl hooting and the wind of the freezing night.
Then, with an awkward cough, Jinshi broke the silence.
"H-Hey. The soup will get cold if you don't eat it now. How about you eat while I bring some water for you to clean up? Your clothes have blood and dirt on them." Jinshi said as she pointed toward the soup before quickly dashing toward the exit. She felt that if this continued, another awkward silence would follow.
Seeing the girl dash away while speaking so fast made Renli feel warm inside. No matter how much he was in turmoil, in the end, he was still a kid, and his thinking reflected that.
Someone his age doing these kinds of things to help him made him trust Jinshi—perhaps not fully, but at least a little.
He got up from the haystack and walked a few steps before sitting down on a wooden chair next to the wooden table.
The soup was inside a wooden bowl and looked like water. But Renli did not mind—it was the slums, after all. Finding food here was like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
He also didn't think anything was wrong with the soup. If Jinshi had any ulterior motives toward him, she could have acted when he was asleep and vulnerable.
So, he picked up the spoon and took a sip of the soup.
It burned his tongue a little, as it was still hot, but aside from that, the soup was surprisingly good.
When he took a second sip, he froze.
He didn't know why, but the taste of the soup made him remember the scene before he fell unconscious.
His breath quickened as he put down the spoon, closing his eyes in an attempt to forget.
His perfect memory, which he once thought was a blessing, had become a curse.
He remembered everything. Every detail. Every expression on those exiles' faces before they were crushed into pulp by his Tacet Mark's powers.
That scene made him fear blood and killing.
Renli hated such feelings—feeling powerless and pathetic. Yet, somehow, he calmed himself down.
He didn't want to worry Jinshi.
Without realizing it, Jinshi was slowly becoming an anchor for him.
...
..
.
After Renli finished the soup in a few minutes, he let out a satisfied sigh while rubbing his stomach. He had not eaten a single bite of food nor drunk water for five whole days. Eating the soup felt so refreshing for him.
But while rubbing his stomach, he saw the Tacet Mark on the back of his hand. He had complicated feelings about it. After all, this same Tacet Mark was the reason his parents abandoned him, but at the same time, it was also the reason he was still alive.
He had known about his powers instinctively from the time he was born. It was as if the knowledge of his abilities had been engraved deep into his mind. No matter what he did, he would never forget what his powers were or how they worked.
He closed his eyes and tried to focus on his Tacet Mark, attempting to uncover more about his abilities.
After ten minutes of concentration, some words started to appear in his mind. They were:
[Voidstorm Dominion] [Adaptation]
'Are those... my powers? Adaptation... That's probably the reason why I'm still alive despite not eating or drinking anything for five whole days,' Renli mused inwardly as he opened his crimson eyes, letting out another sigh.
He had two powers yet still had not unlocked his Forte. From the books he read, [Forte] was something akin to a hidden growth potential, deeply tied to who they were—something Renli currently lacked.
So for now, he wanted to figure out how to use his powers. He knew he hated blood, at least for now, but that was something that wouldn't last long. He was still only five years old, but he had grown a lot compared to others his age, a result of the past five days.
Afterward, his mind wandered toward Jinshi.
Something about her made him... comfortable? He didn't know how to describe it or put it into words. It was a similar feeling to when his parents pampered him with love, yet at the same time, it was a completely different sensation.
Perhaps it was... kinship?
Perhaps Renli saw himself when he looked at Jinshi and her situation. It was the first time he had killed someone, but he also remembered the gazes of those same exiles he killed.
The gaze of a killer.
No matter how well they hid it, that type of gaze was something that couldn't be washed away. Renli knew it—even after killing only once, even if it had been unintentional.
He saw that same gaze hidden in Jinshi's gentle and 'innocent' eyes. Hers was far greater than the one Renli currently possessed. But he also knew that gaze was not directed at him. Instead, she was looking at him with pity.
Another emotion he had seen from his parents and the strangers in the slums.
'For now, let's observe... No matter what she thinks, I'm grateful to her for saving me from that... situation,' Renli mused inwardly, letting out another sigh. He felt like he had been sighing a lot these past five days, but who could blame him?
Everything was happening so fast, and even Renli couldn't keep up with it despite his above-average five-year-old mind.
After sorting out his thoughts, he felt too tired. The exhaustion from the past five days hit him like a truck. Despite sleeping for more than half a day, it still wasn't enough to wash away the fatigue of five entire days. (A/N: I know I used this phrase a lot.)
So he decided to nap for a bit and went back to the hay sack. Despite its rough appearance, it was comfortable, once again reminding Renli how much effort Jinshi had put into making it.
...
..
.
Knock Knock
"Renli...? Are you there? I'm coming in..." Jinshi said after knocking a few times but not hearing a response. Her tone was soft yet carried a hint of concern that even surprised herself.
Was she actually concerned for the boy she had taken in out of pity?
'Certainly not... Right?' Jinshi questioned herself as her left hand hovered in the air, caught in hesitation.
Like Renli, Jinshi had also been abandoned by her parents. The only difference was that she had never known them. She had opened her eyes in the slums, meaning she had been here for her entire fifteen years. She had seen many things—most of them questionable.
Thinking about such things made Jinshi realize why she was standing in front of her own bedroom door. She opened it, the old wooden frame creaking as it moved.
"Oh."
Jinshi couldn't help but exclaim when she saw Renli sleeping peacefully on the hay sack bed she had spent two weeks making.
His sleeping face was actually...
'Cute.'
Jinshi couldn't help but think as she looked at him. His cheeks looked so puffy that she wanted to stretch them with both hands.
Despite Renli being here for five days, he had come from a good family that had fed him well. As a result, he may have gained a little weight in certain areas, like his cheeks and hands.
Realizing her own thoughts, Jinshi quickly shook her head, a small embarrassed blush spreading from her cheeks to her ears.
She was here to give him some clothes she had stolen two days ago from a random thug in the slums, but it seemed that would have to wait.
She didn't want to wake him up. His face looked so peaceful and cute to her. Not that she would ever admit it aloud.
But besides that, she also knew that the moment she found him had probably been the first time he had killed someone.
She had seen the punk on the floor while Renli had been crying, even in his unconscious state.
She knew those types of things.
She had experienced them herself.
The slums were not a place for the weak, and if she wanted to survive, she had to adapt.
'Perhaps... it was worth being cruel.' Jinshi thought inwardly as she sat down on the wooden chair next to the hay sack bed and started to watch Renli—unaware of the warmth swelling inside her own heart.

What do you guys think? I think I did a good job honestly. Their relationship is slowly advancing but not too much to trust blindly to each other. Trust doesn't appear out of nowhere. It needs time to grow and bloom like a flower. If you don't treat it well it would wither.
There will be a little time skip in the next chapter.
[1]: So I did some research, and couldn't find a proper thing to Forte abilities. So I got my best buddy aka ChatGPT and found out something like this after searching some more time. In this fan-fic Forte is akin to hidden potential. When someone opens their Forte they become one with their soul(frequencies) and make their body stronger(stronger bones, stronger muscles, stronger mind, etc... lastly, It boosts the ability of the user and the chance of getting overclocked gets lower. This is of course changes based on who awakens and how much potential they have.)
[2]: This is one of the abilities of MC. I can't say it's an ability confidently but you got the point. His eyes were quite keen because of his tacet mark awakening at birth. Which changes his body slowly to suit his full power of Tacet Mark and Forte awakening later on.
