Chapter 68: Warhammer: Lord of the Endless Monster Horde [68]
At this point, Rhodes still had over 500,000 system coins remaining. The Ace Robot and the cosmic robot Iron had already been upgraded to their ultimate forms during the battles against the Tyranids. As for Bemstar, its tasks on the surface involved devouring Tyranids without much intense combat, so it had only been enhanced twice.
As for the ancient monster Gomora, which was obtained earlier, it had been lying idle in the system space and hadn't been deployed yet. Rhodes wasn't in a rush to enhance these two monsters. Instead, he planned to try out the gacha function in the intermediate-level shop to see what could be drawn from the intermediate-tier prize pool.
Having spent over a million system coins, Rhodes thought: If you don't give me a strong monster, that'd be unreasonable. In the intermediate-level pull, Rhodes could also make a targeted draw. The targeted draw had several new options, one of which was the [Cosmic Being] category. This was something Rhodes had been eyeing for a long time. In the Ultraman universe, cosmic beings could either be incredibly powerful or extremely weak.
The stronger ones could dominate the universe, while the weaker ones might not even be as strong as Earthlings and would require their protection. However, weak cosmic beings with combat power inferior to ordinary monsters, such as those the size of normal humans or even smaller ones, were not included in Rhodes' intermediate-tier prize pool. These beings, lacking any unique racial abilities, didn't qualify for inclusion in the intermediate-level draws.
As for the other monster categories, they included Super Beasts, Disk Creatures, Ancient Monsters, and upgraded versions of Mechanical Monsters.
The Super Beast option seemed quite promising and worth trying in the future. Super Beasts didn't have weak combat powers, and with Rhodes possessing the Yapool research notes, he could potentially create Super Beasts himself in the future. He could even showcase them to the Empire since Super Beasts were essentially biological weapons rather than Xenos species.
Disk Creatures, despite their hype, had rather mediocre combat capabilities overall. They were essentially monster weapons created by cosmic beings, not very different from Super Beasts in essence, but far weaker in combat strength. Their performance in the Ultraman Leo series was abysmal and lacked significant value.
As for Ancient Monsters, Rhodes' beginner prize pool already included three options: Golza, the ancient dragon Melba, and the dark vanguard monster Zogu. Among Ancient Monsters, there were some with formidable strength, such as the Gijera Flower or the Ancient Dark Monster Golba. It was unclear whether the Ancient Dark Giants or the Dark Deity Gatanozoa from the Ultraman Tiga universe would count as Ancient Monsters.
If the Ancient Dark Giants or Gatanozoa were included in the prize pool, it would be worth it. However, final bosses from movie versions would likely require upgrading to the advanced shop to access.
Currently, strengthening mechanical monsters seems to be the most cost-effective option. The Heisei series featured many mechanical monsters with exaggerated attributes and combat power. For example:
Imperial Iron God Empiraiza: It had the power to suppress Taro and Mebius, along with a self-repairing mechanical metal body. Even after taking a direct hit from Taro's Ultra Bomb and being blown to pieces, it could repair itself. It took Mebius' new form and a Mebius Bomb to finally defeat it.
Imperial Soldier Reginald and Imperial Trooper Darklops: These were creations of the Belial Galactic Empire. Though they were mass-produced units, their combat strength was impressive. Reginald was like an enhanced version of King Joe, while the Darklops prototype could even hold its own in battles against Ultraman Zero.
Gloker Bishop, Gloker Rook, and Gloker Knight: These could combine and upgrade into Gigant Endola, a mechanical body created by Delacion capable of resetting planets.
One wonders if a planet that had been consumed by Tyranid could be reset and restored into a habitable planet using Gigant Endola. Regardless, any of these would be a worthwhile draw. The combat power of these mechanical monsters was more than sufficient to deal with the Tyranid, space undead, or even Chaos Demons and Orks.
Moreover, mechanical monsters were easier to explain in terms of origin. Rhodes could simply claim they were blessings from the Omnissiah or creations of humanity during the Golden Age.
Overall, Rhodes was quite satisfied with the additional monster subcategories available after the upgrade. Whether it was Super Beasts, upgraded mechanical monsters, or Ancient Monsters, all were excellent options.
