Chapter 342 Team Building
Angie looked down at her left foot clad in the protective boot and tried to stand up from the sofa, taking a couple of steps.
To her surprise, she didn't feel any discomfort. Angie then boldly took off the protective boot, stood barefoot on the floor, and gradually applied pressure without feeling any pain.
Her courage grew, and eventually, she even lifted her right foot up, putting all her weight on her left leg and hopped a couple of times, landing steadily each time.
She had actually healed completely.
The girl was utterly stunned by this scene that defied medical knowledge, and two words flashed through her mind—Demon Art!
Besides Demon Art, there seemed to be no other explanation.
Fortunately, Angie had already experienced something similar once, so she accepted it much quicker the second time.
"You, you-you, you really are a Radish Spirit, aren't you?"
Angie blurted out, but then she immediately covered her mouth, remembering something.
"No, don't worry, the Monster Suppression Division hasn't teamed up with the mobile carriers; they can't eavesdrop on our conversation through the phones," Ma Lu said.
"That's just too amazing!!!"
Indeed, after her conversation with Ma Lu last night, Angie had doubted whether she was being fooled by someone, especially after receiving that long message from Ma Lu. She vaguely felt she might have read something similar before.
But then she thought about the horsemanship skills she suddenly acquired after eating the salty pork with eggplant, and she wasn't so sure anymore. After eating the Bavaroise pumpkin dish, her remaining doubts completely vanished.
Even if someone placed the original book in front of Angie now, she would probably first suspect that they copied it from Ma Lu.
What had happened to her clearly transcended the scope of science.
Angie walked around the living room excitedly for a while, then threw the protective boot into the trash can.
"I can finally get rid of this damn thing! You helped me out so much, tell me, what do you want as a reward?"
Angie stood still again, her gaze burning brightly as she looked at Ma Lu.
Xiaoxia and Christina didn't understand why she was interested in just an ordinary restaurant owner. Only she knew that the man before her was anything but ordinary. From their first encounter, Ma Lu was shrouded in mystery.
As a member of the hottest idol group in the country, Angie was never short of suitors, whether they be colleagues from the entertainment industry, the children of the rich or government officials, among whom were certainly many outstanding individuals.
But having seen so many, Angie had become somewhat numb. Moreover, unlike Xiaoxia and other group members, she started out as a child star with good family conditions. Through her parents' efforts and her own hard work, she had gradually become a top idol, famous in half of the sky.
This success, however, didn't come without a price. Angie's childhood was more tedious than her peers. She spent most of her time practicing the piano and dancing, keeping up with her schoolwork while attending commercial events.
After becoming famous, her daily schedule was jam-packed with various appearances. Although love&five's image for her was that of a sweet and obedient girl, Angie was actually full of a longing for adventure deep in her bones.
Ma Lu's appearance had given her an exhilarating new experience, which was why Angie wanted to be friends with him.
As for whether to take it further, she hadn't considered it yet. At the moment, she just sensed that Ma Lu was interesting and that staying by his side might lead to some fun adventures.
Ma Lu shook his head, "No need, when you think about it, I injured my leg because of you, so consider this as... after-sales service. Besides, you've already given me concert tickets."
"I checked online yesterday, one ticket costs 2000, so four would be 8000, and it seems like scalpers have inflated the single-ticket price to over ten thousand."

"That's nothing, if you have other friends who want to come to the concert, just let me know, I can still find you more tickets," Angie said, "And I'll also pay you for the snowy mountain pumpkin bavaroise, don't be shy, you deserve it."
Before she finished speaking, she had already transferred another twenty thousand over.
However, before Ma Lu could even feel happy, he heard Angie continuing, "Tell me more about your childhood, how exactly did I save you?"
"Ah..."
Ma Lu was a bit flabbergasted; he'd just made something up last night, and since he wasn't a real Radish Spirit, how could he know how Angie saved him? He could only vaguely reply, "That... is a heavenly secret that must not be disclosed."
Angie wanted to ask more, but at that moment, her assistant was already sending messages urging her.
Angie helplessly asked her assistant to fetch a new pair of shoes from the car and bring them up, while she used the remaining time to eat two more of Old Wang's buttered mini bread rolls to fill up her belly.
"I need to go now, I have an advertisement to shoot soon, the director and makeup artist are already here. I'll come find you after I'm done with this busy period. Oh, and don't forget about the concert," the girl paused, then added, "Be careful around the people from the Monster Suppression Division."
"Yes, I will."
Ma Lu now regretted that his bluffs had been so over the top; he had concocted a whole world view, and just to shut Angie up and keep her busy last night, Ma Lu even picked out the most complicated setup online.
Now he had to learn the details by heart, lest he get caught in his lies later on.
Lies were like that; once you tell one, you have to tell countless others to cover it up.
Speaking of which, what was the archenemy of the Monster Suppression Division called again, Hundred Demons Sect...or Ten Thousand Demons Palace? The palace leader seemed to be someone called Murong Siteng, damn, why are there always so many compound surnames in wuxia novels...
Complaints aside, Ma Lu had to admit Angie was quite generous.
A snowy mountain pumpkin bavaroise and two buttered mini bread rolls landed him another twenty thousand RMB. If every customer were this generous, Ma Lu felt he wouldn't be far from taking over Musk's spot as the world's richest man.
However, at the moment, more important than RMB was earning 6000 Star Currency in the next five days.
That way, Ma Lu could gather the final payment before the smuggling ship arrived and successfully get the equipment he had pre-ordered.
Luckily, he had a streak of good luck last week, taking on four special orders at once, one of which was worth 7000 Star Currency, scheduled for tonight.
The customer's requirements weren't complicated. They just needed one 6-star ingredient, and the rest could be arranged as desired. Just make up twelve dishes in total, and there had to be enough beer.
To prevent a repeat of the incident where a bunch of big-eating cartoon mice came for the buffet, Ma Lu specifically asked Jigina to inquire about the beer consumption limit.
The client replied that 40 bottles would suffice and mentioned it was just a department gathering with a total of 14 people.
Thinking about it, Ma Lu felt their department's funds were probably not too abundant.
Twelve dishes for 14 people, less than one dish per person. But they did order a 6-star ingredient for the main dish, so face-wise, it wasn't too shabby; it really did have the feel of a small company going out for team-building and dining together.
