Chapter 105: The Death Of Danzo
— — — — —
"Wind Style: Vacuum Great Sphere!"
In an instant, a massive high-pressure wind sphere shot toward the barrier.
"Zzzzz!"
However, when the Vacuum Great Sphere struck the barrier, it didn't even cause a ripple. The attack was quickly neutralized and faded away.
Danzo's face darkened as he growled, his expression twisted with rage. "Damn Uzumaki clan! You're something else! To think you'd set up such a powerful barrier in advance. Are you planning to betray Konoha?"
"I should've known. This mission went far too smoothly, didn't it? You knew I was plotting against you all along and played along on purpose!"
"But if that's the case, you're trapped here with us. In the end, won't this just benefit Hanzo and his Rain ninja?"
Danzo couldn't make sense of it.
A moment later, his expression hardened. "There's no way you could've stored enough chakra to maintain such a large barrier for long.
"Attack! Everyone attack the barrier with me! If we don't break through, we'll all die!"
Danzo turned and shouted orders to the ninja forces of the four clans and his Root operatives behind him.
"Yes, Lord Danzo!"
The ninjas stiffened at his urgency, realizing the gravity of the situation. They immediately began launching attacks on the barrier.
— — —
Kaito, observing this through his sensory abilities, smirked disdainfully at Danzo's words. "If you'd come and asked to temporarily join forces to kill Hanzo for Konoha, I might've had some respect for you.
"But thinking you can break this barrier? Keep dreaming!"
Kaito had spent the past half-month meticulously preparing the barrier. He had even created a specialized array device capable of setting it up anywhere.
This array device wasn't just for deployment—it also stored massive amounts of chakra.
Over the last two weeks, Kaito had all three clans' ninjas at the frontline inject a portion of their chakra into the device daily.
He even took it back to Konoha, where elite ninjas from the three clans, including those from the pirate world, also contributed chakra.
As a result, the barrier array buried beneath the valley now contained an astonishing amount of chakra.
Even if Danzo and Hanzo's forces kept attacking relentlessly, it would take at least two hours to deplete the chakra reserves.
In that time, Kaito could wipe them out several times over.
If needed, he could assign ninjas to maintain the barrier and continue injecting chakra into it, extending its duration even further.
But there was no need.
Now that the three clans' ninjas had taken the antidote, Kaito wasted no time. He took out a vial of poison and hurled it into the air.
"Bang!"
The ceramic vial shattered, releasing a cloud of special, colorless, and odorless poison that merged with Hanzo's toxic mist.
The new poison spread rapidly, quickly integrating into all the existing toxic mist.
Even if Hanzo's salamander released more poison, the new toxin would continue to proliferate, ensuring every bit of mist carried this deadly enhancement.
This new poison wasn't just more lethal—it was a top-tier toxin with a unique property.
It could only survive by merging with other toxins.
If the toxic mist dissipated, the poison would lose its medium and vanish along with it, leaving no trace.
Because of this limitation, Kaito dared to use it. Otherwise, this toxin could've blanketed the entire shinobi world within days due to its terrifying rate of reproduction.
— — —
"What's that? What did that brat just do?"
Hanzo, observing from above, noticed the scene and frowned deeply.
Although he couldn't pinpoint what had happened, he had an ominous feeling.
Soon, his toxic mist completely enveloped the valley, covering the three clans' ninja alliance (Kaito's forces).
"Phew… is it over?"
Hanzo exhaled slightly, thinking the battle was won.
But when he extended his sensory abilities, he was shocked to find that none of the ninjas covered by the mist had been affected.
"What?! That's impossible!"
Hanzo's expression twisted in disbelief. "Have they completely neutralized my salamander's poison?
"Even I can't do that!"
He couldn't fathom how the three clans' ninjas had achieved this.
"It seems I'll have to resort to brute force," Hanzo muttered. "Good thing I agreed to Danzo's request and gave him a batch of my antidotes."
"As long as we eliminate them within an hour, it shouldn't be a problem."
"With the combined strength of my forces and Danzo's, we outnumber the Uchiha, Senju, and Uzumaki forces several times over. There's no reason we should lose!"
Hanzo tried to reassure himself.
It was true—he had sold Danzo a batch of antidotes for his poison, just enough to supply Sarutobi's forces, the other four clans, and the Root operatives with one vial each for one fight.
But each antidote only lasted an hour before becoming ineffective.
Was Hanzo worried that Danzo might use the antidotes to reverse-engineer a countermeasure against his poisons?
Not at all. Hanzo didn't fear that possibility in the slightest.
The antidote was ridiculously expensive to produce, and one of the ingredients was exclusive to the Hidden Rain Village.
Researching this further? Konoha would be better off sticking to Uchiha Clan's antidotes.
They were not only more effective but also much cheaper.
For just this batch of a thousand antidote vials, Hanzo had charged Danzo a staggering one billion ryo.
And Danzo agreed. Clearly, Danzo was desperate to save his own force.
Now Hanzo wasn't in a rush to charge into battle. Instead, he waited for the toxic mist to fully spread across the barrier space.
He was also waiting for Danzo's forces to take the antidote and attack the Uchiha and allied ninjas with him.
Rushing in alone would cause unnecessary losses—not worth it.
So, Hanzo continued releasing poison, patiently biding his time.
The toxic mist rapidly expanded, creeping closer to Danzo's forces and squeezing their already limited space.
"What's going on? I'm waiting for Danzo to make a move, but what are the Uchiha and their allies waiting for?"
Hanzo frowned as he observed the quiet Uchiha alliance below, murmuring to himself in confusion.
He couldn't figure it out.
"Could they have another hidden ace up their sleeve?"
— — —
Meanwhile, on Danzo's side, the toxic mist was closing in fast, leaving them no room to retreat.
Danzo's face was ashen with anger. "Damn it! Why hasn't this barrier been broken yet?"
"Owl! What's the status of the Uchiha forces? How many of them are still alive? Who's maintaining the barrier?"
Danzo turned to Owl, a ninja with remarkable sensory abilities.
Owl replied grimly, "Lord Danzo, from what I can sense, none of them are poisoned, let alone dead. It seems the toxic mist isn't affecting them at all.
"Also, neither they nor Hanzo's forces are making any moves.
"I suspect they're waiting for us to act first."
Danzo's expression darkened further as he turned to his ninjas. "We have no choice. Take the antidotes and join forces with Hanzo to attack them!"
The ninjas from the four clans and Root nodded reluctantly.
"Take the antidotes. There's no other way!"
"Once you've taken them, charge at the Uchiha forces immediately. Attack with Hanzo and eliminate them as quickly as possible!"
"After that, we can either fight Hanzo or retreat!"
Danzo issued the orders, seeing no other option.
He uncorked a vial of Hanzo's prized antidote and drank it.
Seeing this, the rest of the ninjas followed suit, each consuming their own antidote.
"Charge!!"
Danzo waved his hand, leading his forces into the toxic mist.
But before they'd even run ten meters, Danzo and his men began to feel their breaths grow labored. Their bodies grew heavy, and their minds foggy.
"Something's wrong! I'm poisoned! How is this possible?"
"Why isn't Hanzo's antidote working?"
"It doesn't make sense! I checked these antidotes—they're genuine! Why are we still poisoned?"
Danzo's limbs went numb, his breath came in shallow gasps, and despair filled his eyes. "I… don't understand…"
"L-Lord Danzo! It's the poison! Something's not right with this poison!"
Owl, struggling to stay conscious, croaked, "This isn't Hanzo's normal toxin… it's too strong and fast-acting.
"We've been tricked!"
Danzo's eyes widened in horror as realization dawned. The symptoms they were experiencing weren't the same as those from Hanzo's poison. This was something far more lethal.
If Hanzo's poison had been this potent all along, they would've been wiped out ages ago.
"What… where did this come from? I… I'm not ready to die!"
Danzo's vision blurred, his body grew colder, and with a deep sense of regret, he fell lifeless to the ground, his consciousness slipping into eternal darkness.
If only he had seen Kaito tossing that vial into the toxic mist earlier.
Perhaps then, he might have realized this was all Kaito's doing.
But Danzo and his forces had been too focused on breaking the barrier, unaware of what had truly transpired.
"L-Lord Danzo!!!"
Owl reached out to grab Danzo's fallen body, but he too succumbed to the poison moments later.
"Thud! Thud!"
One by one, the ninjas of the four clans and Root fell to the ground, lifeless.
— — —
"Finally! Danzo and his men are all dead!"
Kaito, sensing their demise, clapped his hands to grab everyone's attention.
"Now it's time to settle the score with Hanzo and the Rain ninja. Let's end this war!"
He turned to Tsunade and the others. "I'll take care of Hanzo. You handle the rest of the Rain ninjas."
"No."
Tsunade shook her head and said firmly, "Let me take on Hanzo first. I'll hold him off while you deal with the small fry.
"With your lightning abilities, you're perfect for clearing out weaker enemies.
"Once you're done, come back and help me with Hanzo.
"Besides, I've got a score to settle with him myself!"
Before Kaito could protest, Tsunade stomped the ground with a loud "Bang!" and launched herself toward Hanzo on the high ground, ready for battle.
