Chapter 27 - The Tournament
The last week of July… This is the schedule for a small-scale tournament called “Blame Others Battle” hosted by SupportBlame.
When viewers asked why it’s called “Blame Others Battle”, he just said that’s how it is.
I guess with his nickname and all… he seems to be someone instinctively equipped with blaming others.
Anyway, that was the tournament schedule, and currently it’s the second Wednesday of July.
In terms of time, there’s about 15 days left.
So our “Lark” team decided to gather for the first time to greet each other.
Of course, on Discord.
Lark, the team leader, turned on his broadcast as a representative and everyone connected to Discord.
“Unni, hi hi! Have you been well?”
“Yeah. Mia seems to have been doing well too. Achieving Gold tier, you’ve worked hard.”
“Unni!”
My relationship with Mia has developed to the point where we’re comfortable with each other now.
She’s so cute and approaches me diligently showing affection first, it would be silly to push her away… Anyway, limited to Mia, even hearing “unni” has become natural.
“Alright, let’s put aside private conversations for now and first greet the viewers. Hello, everyone. I’m Lark, in charge of ADC and team leader in the Lark team.”
“Hello! I’m Mia, in charge of support and cuteness!”
“Ahem-!”
“…Sh-should I say something like that too?”
The voices of other team members who were flustered and the chaotic viewer chat window are amusing.
Continuing that good atmosphere, the next in order was top.
“Hello. I’m Wagyu, in charge of top and carry in the team.”
-Wow! A Gold top declaring carry… this is precious.
-No no, Wagyu has good mechanics even though he’s hardheaded. He even beat a Diamond in a 1:1 duel last time.
-Yeah, but he’s still just a Goldie. Mindlessly pushes lane, always gets ganked, and only makes useless teleports.
-Just type ㄹㅇ.
The Gold’s carry declaration might have been a bit of an overreach.
Anyway, I’m next in order.
“Hello. I’m Hani, who can be in charge of jungle and mid carry… but yielded to a teammate. Please take care of me.”
-Hani is indeed mid carry.
-Huh? Is Hani a jungler? Wasn’t she mid? Everyone was saying mid carry, mid carry so I thought Hani was mid.
-ㅋ Is the person above from the Stone Age? If you just search Hani, mid carry highlight scenes pop up all over, don’t you even know that?
-Not having seen Hani’s mid carry, you’ve lost half your life.
The chat window exploded at my statement that was a bit more provocative than usual.
Actually, such statements are a bit embarrassing, but this tournament was an even bigger stage than the Miracle joint broadcast.
I came with the determination to appeal to viewers even a little and achieve great results.
“Last one. I’m Waka, in charge of mid and center in the team. And mid is mine.”
-Shocking statement! Waka declares Hani’s mid is his.
-ㅓㅜㅑ!
-That belongs to all of us. Where are you trying to privatize public goods!
Malicious viewers cling to Waka’s statement and start exaggerating.
Currently at the same Diamond tier as me, but the following number was different.
I’m Diamond 4 tier, also called Yeti, and Waka is Diamond 1 tier… and that’s after being demoted, originally he was playing in Master tier.
Last season and the season before that too… Anyway, he was quite a skilled mid laner, so from a jungler’s perspective, he was a reliable teammate.
“Alright, too mischievous chats will be muted. The chat managers are watching with sharp eyes, so be careful on your own.”
-Wah, I’m a good baby viewer.
-Ugh! Shouldn’t the above chat be forcibly removed right away? It’s a bit gross.
-ㅋ I’ve predicted, but if it’s according to the tournament name, since Mia is included, they’ll at least reach the finals. Mia is about Master tier in blaming others and politics without difficulty.
“Today we’re not going to play games right away, but we’ll try to match call signs or main picks and analyze opponent teams… We’ll have that kind of time, is that okay, Waka hyung?”
“Yeah yeah, don’t mind me and proceed as you like.”
Come to think of it, our team has quite a low average age.
Mia is the youngest at 22, Wagyu is 23, Lark and I are 24, and lastly, the eldest Waka is 26.
-As expected, military-finished Waka. Totally gives off senior soldier vibes.
-Then is Lark a corporal? ㅋ A legendary unfulfilled corporal.
-Wow! Come to think of it, isn’t Hani the king senior? 4th year reservist. Waka is only 2nd year.
-Wagyu, Lark, just go to the military quickly. How long are you going to postpone it.
Mischievous Mia wouldn’t miss such chats.
She quickly catches on and teases Lark and Wagyu to just go to the military already.
The two suddenly become gloomy.
In a situation where we can’t proceed any further, I stop Mia and throw a joke to cheer them up.
“If you carry even one game in this tournament, I’ll visit you in the military.”
“Is that for real!”
“I was recording this whole conversation. No taking it back!”
“……”
For a moment, the phrase ‘completely fooled’ comes to mind.
Indeed, professional BJs of 3+ years led by Mia.
The viewers were just happy saying they obtained good content material.
No, do they know when these friends will actually go to the military and are happy about that?
“Um… I’m enlisting in the last week of August. I’m participating in this tournament because Lark hyung said to burn it up one last time before going.”
“Ah! That… Well. Have a safe service.”
“I haven’t gone yet!”
From what I heard, Wagyu has already applied for August and Lark for November.
While it’s understandable for Wagyu, Lark is one of the few precious acquaintances, so it feels a bit regrettable.
“Anyway, so you must come visit! It’s a promise.”
“No, it’s not unconditional, you have to carry in the game…”
“I’ll carry. If I carry two games, will you come twice?”
“Uh……”
Not just Wagyu, but Lark’s voice was also full of morale now.
Well, we need to discuss various things and make strategies from now on, so it was much better than them being depressed.
Anyway, just as I was thinking that and about to proceed, a surprise attack came.
“Then if I carry, can we maybe do a real-life joint broadcast once? …Not a military visit since I’ve already been discharged.”
“……”
Brutus… No, even you, Waka.
They were men more interested in the food than the memorial service.
“Unni, you have to be careful. Men are completely wolves. I thought Waka-nim wouldn’t be like that, but did you see him dropping that line?”
“Yeah yeah. Right, I was a bit surprised too.”
“Sigh! Unni, you’re too naive, that’s the problem. Anyway, I’ll protect you well, so don’t worry too much.”
“Okay, I got it.”
I wonder who this little kid is saying she’ll protect.
Anyway, her enthusiastic movements were cute and admirable, so I went along with her appropriately.
‘The opposing teams’ strength is stronger than I thought.’
After ending the conversation with Mia, I lay on the bed and recalled the information shared with team members today.
This tournament where a total of 4 teams clash.
Already 3 teams’ members have been confirmed, and thanks to well-connected Lark’s hard work, we were able to obtain information early.
First, the host SupportBlame’s team.
Challenger-Master-Platinum-Gold-Gold.
There was one female BJ included, but as if they didn’t care about the Tier+1 benefit at all, they picked all males for the remaining four.
Of course, that’s enough… no, rather strong.
Our team’s tiers were Grandmaster-Diamond-Diamond-Gold-Gold.
Although one of the Diamonds was actually a disguised tier not much different from Master, even considering that, it’s true that just looking at tiers, we don’t match up to SupportBlame’s team.
And the next team.
It was a team with BJ IkuEku, who could be called SupportBlame’s best friend, as the leader.
The tiers were Challenger-Master-Platinum-Platinum-Gold, with IkuEku himself, who is Challenger, at the top.
They built a strong force by including female BJs in Platinum and Gold each, receiving a Platinum team member instead of Gold with the +1 tier benefit.
In terms of tiers, currently the strongest team among the teams that have come out!
Of course, since both of those female BJs’ original positions are support, their actual skills might be lower than their tiers, but anyway, just looking at tiers, that’s how it was.
‘The last team hasn’t finished forming yet… Anyway, just looking at tiers, we’re at the biggest disadvantage.’
Especially, what I’m most worried about is top.
Mia might fall behind, but since she’s done duo with Lark a lot, she probably won’t completely collapse.
But SupportBlame team’s top is Platinum, and IkuEku team’s top is Master.
Can Wagyu, who’s just a Goldie, hold on?
[It’s not appropriate to disparage Gold. Isn’t there a saying, the difference in jungle determines top’s win or loss?]
“Yeah, no. I’m not going top. I extremely hate when they get a solo kill and start talking.”
For a moment, I got upset without realizing.
Thinking of top laners who get solo kills and start talking makes me angry without realizing.
The violent politics of laners directed at poor junglers.
When faced with that shamelessness, I unconsciously lose my mind and go to that lane to drop smite on the cannon minion’s head.
[Do you know the saying ‘the pot calling the kettle black’?]
“Shut up!”
Anyway, putting aside tiers, our team seemed to have a good atmosphere and unite well.
Lark and Mia, and Mia and I are already close, and Lark, being the social butterfly himself, leads everyone from the center.
Wagyu also follows Lark well, and although Waka is the oldest, he blends well with everyone without being authoritative or stubborn.
“Maybe this will be an even better opportunity than I thought…”
At first, I only thought about the ‘promotional’ effect, but there’s still a 2-week period left.
If during that time, we practice hard with well-matching teammates and gather points to slightly adjust game-related abilities?
We might be able to achieve results beyond what we expected.
[Effort to develop further is what the Goddess likes most. It’s a rare opportunity. Prepare hard.]

“Jackpot!”
It was the first time in nearly a month that the helper looked pretty to me.
