[TS] Starting the Broadcast

Chapter 26 - Concerns and Choices

It’s noisy.
My head is ringing.
A slightly dizzy and nauseous feeling.
I blink my eyes a few times.
As I slightly frown at the dazzling ceiling light, I hear a voice from the side.
“Are you coming to? Why have you become so weak to alcohol? You’re tipsy after just one bottle of beer. Try drinking this.”

“Huh? Oh…”

After blinking a few times, my focus sharpens and my vision becomes clear.
What’s in front of me is a famous hangover cure drink and Yunjin holding it out.
But why are you looking down at me? Don’t tell me!?
Did you really become a golden sun!?

Jolt-!

“Haha, so you know. That member said they’d come back next week…”

It wasn’t that at all.
The place is still the meat restaurant.
It seems I had fallen asleep for a moment due to the alcohol.
I snatched the hangover drink from Yunjin’s hand, who was looking at me with a bewildered expression, and downed it in one go.

Damn, I’m not drinking alcohol anymore.

[You shouldn’t say things you can’t keep.]

‘Shut up!’

After drinking the hangover cure, my condition improves quickly.
The effect is direct, and it seems my constitution has changed quite a bit as my body was reconstructed as a woman, both with alcohol and other things.

“You were always a lightweight, but today is especially bad. Don’t force yourself and just eat some meat.”

“…Okay.”

I apologize for mistaking you for a golden sun.
As expected, you’re my friend… I was about to say that, but what’s with that hand sneakily wrapping around my waist?

“Don’t you know your hand will fly off if you play around?”

“Ahaha! I thought you might be cold.”

“It’s summer, you know? You’re dead.”

The manipulated memories are becoming clearer and clearer.
Right, this was the kind of relationship I had with Yunjin.
It was a relationship that best fit the description of a male friend and a female friend.

“By the way, Hani, are you still resting?”

“Huh? Oh… yeah, that’s right.”

“I asked you back then if you could work, remember? At our gym.”

“Oh, did you?”

As the conversation progressed, the manipulated memory quickly filled in the blank space.
I remembered vaguely mentioning something like that about two months ago.

“As it happens, a position opened up. Father gave the okay too. It’s not difficult. You’ll mainly be at the counter and help out a bit once a day when restocking towels and other items.”

“Ah… well.”

For a moment, I was at a loss for words.
What should I do?
I’m currently doing broadcasts, so it was impossible to work at Myeonghun’s gym.
Of course, I could allocate some time, but from the position of having to focus on points right now, doing work outside of broadcasting was too big a penalty.

‘Then should I honestly decline… no, wait.’

I was about to say it would be difficult because I’m doing broadcasts, but the look in the eyes of the two friends focusing on our conversation bothers me.
No, to be honest, Byeonghan isn’t a problem, but if Yunjin catches on wrongly, this will be a subject of teasing for at least a year.
Especially if he sees the half-cam video I did, I’d have to be prepared to suffer from him for at least a week.

There’s no choice. I have to make up an excuse for now…

“Ah, sorry. Thanks for looking into it, but I just started working at a cafe near my house recently.”

“Oh really? Then it can’t be helped. It would be inconsiderate to that cafe too if you quit right after starting work.”

Myeonghun nodded as if understanding that a self-employed person understands the heart of another self-employed person best.
This guy, who decided his career path early by helping his father who runs a gym since childhood, graduated only high school, went to the military right away, and started working in earnest after that.

Byeonghan was the same, graduating high school, going to the military, and passing the police officer exam the very next year.
They’re really hard-working guys.

“……”

“…What? Why are you looking at me like that?”

On the contrary, this guy is really questionable.
He went to the military in his first year of junior college, graduated, and then got hired by a famous game company right away… In fact, he could be said to be the most successful among us.
I wonder when he developed such programming skills.

‘I thought he was always just chasing after girls.’

“No, I was being quiet. Why are you so scary?”

I must have been staring too intently.
I silently turned my head and focused on the meat.
The conversation continues calmly.
Conscious of my condition, the atmosphere was no longer one of urging more drinks.

“Hani seems to be in poor condition today, so let’s end here and do the second round next time.”

“Okey okey. Here again next time?”

“We’ll think about that when the time comes. Then I’m going first.”

Yunjin, who lives the farthest, moves away while pretending to throw a palm heart at me.
I naturally answered by raising my middle finger.
After that, I moved to the bus stop with the remaining two.
Myeonghun takes the same bus and Byeonghan takes the subway, but he says he’ll wait until we go.
He’s truly an angel without wings.

“I’ll go first.”

“Oh, okay. Get home safely.”

Myeonghun and I got on the bus together.
The road that has darkened without me realizing and the streetlights illuminating it.
One stop before I get off, Myeonghun presses the bell and stands up from his seat.

“It was good to see you after a while. Let’s see each other next time.”

“Yeah. Help your father well.”

We share a light high-five before he gets off.
Always a cheerful guy full of fighting spirit.
I slightly waved my hand towards him as he moved away from the window.
Soon the bus departs.
The street engulfed in darkness.
Now I’m alone again.

[How was your outing today?]

“Well, it wasn’t bad.”

It would be a lie to say I wasn’t worried about meeting old friends in a woman’s body.
But indeed, the Goddess’s power was amazing, and thanks to the memory manipulation, I was able to mingle with my friends naturally to a surprising degree.

[This is the power of the great Goddess. You don’t need to worry about other human relationships either.]

“No, that’s for later…”

Although I mingled without trouble, I was tense more than once or twice as the manipulated memories came to life.
Due to the fatigue from that, I felt like lying down in bed right away.
In this state, I didn’t want to worry about my parents as well.

‘Should I say it’s fortunate that I’m an only child.’

Anyway, future issues are problems that the ‘me’ of that day will have to deal with.
I washed up briefly and sat in front of the computer, running Notepad.
At the very top was written the number of points I had frugally saved up: 1375.
Below that, a line was drawn and soon divided into two branches.
The left option was ‘Appearance’.
The right option was ‘Voice’.

It was simple.
It’s about time to invest points, and I was considering which direction to go under two plans.

The first, appearance, was simple.
I progress from half-cam to mask cam broadcast.
I wear a slightly larger size mask to completely cover the lower half of my face.
And I all-in 1300 points focusing on the eyes.
If I do that, I’ll have a very unbalanced appearance with only pretty eyes and ordinary nose, lips, etc… completely lacking harmony, but it doesn’t matter since I don’t have plans to go out for a while anyway.
No, even if I do go out, I’ll never take off the mask.
Then, limited to using a mask, I can make my official cam broadcast debut with an appearance close to that of a celebrity.

‘It’s a desperate measure due to lack of points, but it’s rather good. By advancing step by step like this, I can draw attention more frequently and for longer, and people’s expectations will explode.’

When they see the mask cam broadcast, they’ll be thirsting for a complete cam broadcast without even that afterwards.

‘The second is voice… This might be thinking bigger in the long term. It has a definite synergy effect with existing abilities.’

If appearance shows strength in water balloon supply, voice will contribute to the number of viewers.
It also goes well with previously learned abilities like voice impersonation or vocal color diversification.
Not only that, but it also had expandability towards ‘singing’ related abilities.

In fact, it was just a matter of order, as both were abilities that needed to be acquired and directions to go.
I was just gauging which tech tree would lead to faster overall broadcast development when taken.

‘But just then, this proposal came.’

It wasn’t an official competition conducted at the platform level.
But the level of interest was high.
One of the top three big companies in the ‘League of Legends’ section on New Continent TV, ‘LineVoltageSupportBlame’, shortened to SupportBlame.
A Challenger tier ADC broadcaster with an average of 5000-6000 viewers and thick connections with other BJs.

Anyway, this SupportBlame took the lead in holding a small competition with four teams competing, and one of the four team leaders was BJ Lark.
BJ Lark, with whom I had developed a slight acquaintance due to the incident with Mia.
He asked if I was interested in joining the team.

Currently at Diamond 4 tier, one might think ‘Why such a proposal for such an infinitely low tier?’ compared to Challenger SupportBlame and Grandmaster Lark, but basically, competitions held on the platform were like that.
When forming each team, they put tier restrictions to allow as many diverse BJs as possible to participate.
For example, 1 from Challenger-Grandmaster range, 1 from Master-Diamond, 1 from Platinum, 2 from Gold-Silver, and so on.
Since viewer numbers tend to be determined by ‘fandom’ as well as skill, it could be said to be a tier restriction to include popular BJs with low tiers.

‘As expected of Lark-nim, his cunning is the best.’

This competition had several rules, one of which was that including two female BJs in the team would provide a +1 tier in the tier restriction.
From what I heard, they had already included Mia, a Gold support (recently demoted), so if I joined, they would receive the +1 tier benefit and be able to include one more Diamond tier BJ instead of Platinum.

‘Lark-nim is Grandmaster, me and another Diamond… and two Golds, the team level wouldn’t be bad.’

Compared to SupportBlame’s team which had already been arranged as Challenger-Master-Platinum-Gold-Gold, our Grandmaster-Diamond-Diamond-Gold-Gold was slightly behind but not to an extent where we couldn’t compete.

‘Of course I have to participate… absolutely. This competition has more ripple effect than the Miracle joint broadcast. However, if the situation becomes like this…’

Originally, I was going to choose the voice side.
I thought it would show a bigger effect in securing viewers, with synergy effects with already possessed abilities.
But if I can join content that secures such a large number of viewers, it’s a different story.
Viewers were already secured.
Then, depending on how ‘strong’ I show myself to be, the size of the fruit falling to each participant will differ.

“Let’s go for appearance!”

[True beauty lies not in the exterior but in the interior. According to the Goddess’s teachings…]

“Yeah, no. Just open the ability list quickly.”

Suddenly, I recall the memory of the first day I became a woman.
Leaving aside becoming a woman, how much did I feel regret that my appearance remained the same.
I wanted to coast through life with an appearance buff.

“Dreams… come true!”

Ambition was burning.
