The Werewolf King's Bride

Chapter 541: People Cannot Change Overnight

(From Blue's Perspective)

The news about my pregnancy was a huge surprise to Dem and me. It was not planned at all. I even took my pills all the time.

That day, after checking Dem, he kind of forced me to also get checked. I felt no symptoms. Just nothing at all. But then, Doctor Dimitri told us I was pregnant.

"Babe, you took the pills, didn't you?" Dem had asked.

"I did. I took all of them. Even today…," I had said.

"It is not like you will never get pregnant even if you take the pills. It can happen, although the chance is really low," Doctor Dimitri had explained.

It was not about what kind of parents we would be anymore. It was about how the hell were we going to take care of another child when our firstborn was so little.

Since we would have to hold a banquet for Dion anyway, we decided to tell everyone about my pregnancy at that time. Until the banquet, only the two of us knew about it. We did not want to have another child this soon, but since I got pregnant anyway, I wished it would be a girl. We had a boy, so a girl would fulfill our family.

After the banquet, we decided to have a couple of drinks with our friends. I could not drink, of course.

"Gosh, what a surprise it is, Blue!" Iris exclaimed. "I could not congratulate you properly in the banquet. People just keep coming to talk to you… Anyway, congratulation! When have you found out?"

"A few days ago," I said. Dion had fallen asleep in my arms. He maybe was exhausted seeing all those people at the banquet. I wrapped him in his small blanket as the air felt a little chilly, despite the active fireplace.

"It is so quick. Did the doctor say it's safe?" Luc asked.

"My body heals quicker than before. A lot quicker I must say," I said. "Anyway, enough about me. Evan, you are getting married. Oh my, I thought you were going to get old without getting married."

"It is a surprise, indeed," Dem added.

Evan chuckled. He had been quiet for a long time. He had held Dion for a long time and only after Dion got hungry that he gave him back to me.

"I need to, one time or another. It is better to do it now than when I would not be able to move my hips much," Evan said.

"So, your fiancée's name is Liliana. It's cute. And congratulations on your engagement," I said with a smile. "Have you guys dated?"

"Dating is not really normal in political marriages," Evan said. "We do not date."

I looked at Dem who gave a nod supporting Evan's statement.

"I also heard you are not going to have any concubines," I said.

"I wonder how you heard that," Evan said, cocking his head to one side.

"I wonder how you did not hear about my pregnancy," I smirked.

"Your bedroom is spyproof," he said.

"Apparently, not all places in your palace are like that," I said. "Thus, I got the news."

I placed my head on Dem's shoulder. I was fatigued, thanks to all the people that came to the banquet. A lot of people just wanted to talk to me, thanks to my power. A kid even asked me today if I could turn into a dragon. When I said it was just a creature and not something I could turn into, the kid asked if I could call it here.

If I called Vigor in a place like this, he would end up burning everything. It was not possible to control a dragon. Vigor was more like a child to me and it viewed me as its mother, not its master. It would not go against its mother for sure and it would not hurt me. However, I could not guarantee if it would not attack others at all.

Thankfully, the kid's mother took her away before I had to think of an answer.

"Maybe you should return and sleep now, Blue. You look tired," Iris said.

It was weird talking to Iris. I did not meet up with her after that, making up various excuses. I truly could not view her like I did. Maybe I was being weird. However, I could not help it.

"I am tired," I said. "It was exhausting. Even Dion is tired. You are right. I should go to bed soon. I also wanted to spend time with you all.

We do not get together often."

"You can do that later, honey. Your rest is more important," Dem said.

Unlike me, Dem did not like spending time with anyone. He just hated the idea. So, he was really eager to just return to our bedroom.

"Yes, go and rest. Might as well stay away from this bastard," Luc said, eyeing Dem. Mom and Dad could not stay today for a long time as Dad had a bad headache.

Luc did not like the fact that I had gotten pregnant so quickly again. He was worried about my health and blamed Dem, even though he knew Dem alone could not get me pregnant if I was not part of the act as well.

Evan wanted to talk to me about something private, so I told him to stay a day. He did not want to stay and said he would just need one minute. But I was not buying it. He had come here after quite a long time. How could I just let him leave so quickly?

"The woman he is marrying is the duke's daughter. It means the throne of Trouvaille will be secure too," Dem said.

"You are talking like you wanted to invade his kingdom," I said, taking the hairpins off my bun. The tight bun gave me a headache. But no other hairstyles were going well with the dress I had worn.

"Not invade. I was just saying," he said.

"Really?" I raised my eyebrow at him in the mirror. "You love power."

"I loved power," he said, "because there was nothing greater than that."

"People cannot change overnight."

'You did,' a voice inside me said.

'No, I became what I was meant to be,' another voice clarified. 'I did not change. I just found out who I am.'
